Tainan, Taiwan 2024 🇹🇼🥢🐉🍜🌆 Tainan, the old capital of Taiwan, was an interesting city with lots of temples, narrow alleys, great shopping and delicious food ☺️ As for big cities in Taiwan we enjoyed Taipei more, but Tainan also has its charm and was easy to navigate. There several interesting activities around Tainan, however we were not in the mood for transport and therefore enjoyed walking around the city center watching temples, trying food and a little bit of shopping too 😊 We went to the cinema and saw Dune 2, it was a good experience even though the volume was very high 😅👵👴 If you have plenty of time in Taiwan, Tainan is worth the stop, if you on the other side are in a rush - skip Tainan and spend some some extra days in Taipei. Kernave) to pierwsza stolica i centrum religijne pogańskiej Litwy. 👉 Nas zachwyciło jej położenie! W dolinie rzeki Wilii (lit. Neris). 👉 Przed nami zielone wzniesienia, z których każde pełniło inną funkcję: 📍 Góra Zamkowa - siedziba książęca, 📍 Tron Mendoga - obronne podegrodzie, 📍 Góra Ofiarna - miejsce kultu, 📍 Góra Lizdejki - po drugiej stronie rzeki, 📍 Grodzisko Krywejkiszki o funkcji strażnicy. 👉 Do tego odtworzono też wioskę z drewnianą zabudową prezentującą dawne rzemiosło. 👉 Na wzgórza prowadzą ścieżki i drewniane schody. (Part 2/3) Next part of our Bonn trip was the tour #wegederdemokratie in #bonn, painting the way of the former institutions when the city was the capital. Picture 1 & 2 , 4-6 , 7-9 show parliamentary buildings, of the #bundestag & #bundesrat, the two parliamentary chambers, that changed over time due to repair work…number 3 is now part of the UN, including the tower called #langereugen. Number 10 is the #bundesbüdchen which is a little shop not far from those institutions and was famous for being the meeting point of politicians of different parties getting together. Admittedly, you must be a nerd but it’s interesting to see important places of the past even though all you can see is the building from the outside as they’re open for the public but used by the UN as well as the #worldcongresscenterbonn It is noticeable that these building were the center of democracy yet are anything but fancy. There is no comparison to today’s fancy buildings in Berlin. What is the history of Thailand? Well, I'm missing some pieces, but roughly like this. Bangkok became the capital of Thailand in 1782 when General Chakri overthrew the then-ruler, General-liberator Taksin, who had previously freed the country from Burmese occupation. The country, known as the Kingdom of Ayutthaya (Siam) until the occupation, was the longest-lasting kingdom the Thai people had (1351-1767). Judging by the borders of that kingdom, I would say that it largely laid the foundations for the borders of present-day Thailand, engaging in significant battles with the powers of that time, the Khmers (the current people of Cambodia), and especially the Burmese (the current people of Myanmar). While they emerged as victors in the war against the Khmers (destroying their capital, Angkor), the war with the Burmese ultimately resulted in the destruction of the kingdom and its capital. These are the remains of Ayutthaya, once the capital of the eponymous kingdom and the second Thai kingdom in succession. P.S.
