With some paintings it´s just difficult. You start and at some point you can´t continue. This one was on the easel since january - and I had no idea how to complete it. Brigid looked at me with her big blue eyes and seemed to ask: "When do you light my fire?" Brigid is associated with wisdom, poetry, healing, protection and smithing. She is pure light and energy. We had a lovely weekend visiting a range of the Celtic Goddess Brigid's art work. This outstanding piece of artwork is located on Bridge Street "Brigid of Faughart" Artist name @thisisfriz incredible art honouring Goddess Brigid. So much amazing things haven't been forgotten about in this image from St Brigid's cross to her amazing red hair, and also the fire be hide as we all know that's one of Brigid's traits. My favourite extra is the fact dandelions are included as this is so important in witchcraft. Dandelion offers us a profound spiritual journey. Through its impermanence, resilience, and adaptability, it reminds us of the inherent strength within us. We are so in love with this incredible painting by Michelle's aunt @jowatsonartist . This was actually a demonstration piece for one of Jo's portrait workshops and Michelle fell in love with it because it looked just like Brigid. She now sits pride of place at the front of the temple and watches over Brigid's flame. We are proud custodians of Brigid's flame from Kildare. This was gifted to Michelle by her Moon Mother teacher from Ireland. Living in an apartment with no outdoor space and having very little access to nature outside of parks, where they frown heavily on picking flowers, I don’t have a lot of opportunity to gather wildflowers. But I found this lovely little stem of yellow rocket growing by a tree at the edge of our complex. I picked it as an offering to the Goddess Brigid for my ritual later. Back from a lovely week away camping under the Mendip Hills in Somerset. The first time I've visited since the early 90's when going to the festival. Not knowing the area we went with an open mind, and were not disappointed. I was struck by the landscape, and can see why it draws so many people back. The watery landscape, it was very wet! , and huge vista of land to the Irish Sea. I can imagine how it must have looked many years ago, and why it is a special place. We visited Wells, Glastonbury, walked up the Cheddar Gorge and spent some time on the Avalon marshes. I found the sacred waters and wells so interesting. The waters at Wells walled off by a huge, ostentatious Bishops palace. Access by a hefty charge, and no access to the water (although Merlin did have a little paddle😉). The Chalice well or red spring in Glastonbury, set in a beautiful, peaceful garden with medicinal plants. A small fee for access, and shop as you leave. A tap outside for water when the garden is closed. A beautiful peaceful setting, a sanctuary of calm energy. The white spring, housed in a communal bath house. Run by volunteers and free to access. The water free to access even when the bath house is closed. What struck me was the normality of the people collecting the water at the white spring, and attending the shrines inside. People driving up and filling their water bottles as we would have done thousands of years ago. The democratic feeling of how special water is and having this access. The sound of the water, and energy in the room is really powerful. My daughter and I spent some time taking it all in, and stood in the pool. Leaving an offering of quartz that we gathered in Scotland earlier in the year for the Brigid shrine. There were lots of women spending time, taking pause. You are also free to enter the pool in the middle, and we did get a bit of a shock when a chap stripped off right next to my daughter and got in! I've brought some water home with me and will be using it in my painting practise. We will definitely be returning to Somerset, as the countryside and small villages were beautiful. Social media gives a person serious altar or spell set up envy. But something the simple,but meaningful spell set up works best. I wanted to do a meditation to spend some time with Goddess Brigid. I set up a simple candle, her goddess statue, a bell, and an offering of cream and honey. I felt a little apprehensive during the meditation, but I did also feel her presence. I think we need a few more sessions for me to feel more comfortable. E ainda temos tanta luta pela frente! Feminismo não é sobre competir com os homens. Não é sobre ser mandona, agressiva, "independente" ou sobre odiar quem quer que seja. É sobre IGUALDADE. Sobre direitos iguais, oportunidades iguais, responsabilidades iguais. Feminismo também é sobre as liberdades de escolher o que vestir, o que estudar, com o quê trabalhar, com quem se relacionar. Existem vários Feminismos, e isso é ótimo. O mundo precisa de mais tolerância, mais amor e empatia. E para isso é necessário conviver com a diversidade: de alimentos, de espécies, de preferências, de ideias, de valores e crenças.
