#RockOfCashelHistory #IrishHeritage #MedievalIreland #IconicLandmarks #IrishLegends #HistoricSites #IrishArchitecture #CelticHistory #AncientIreland #ExploreIreland

Beltany stone circle is a megalithic monument that may date from the later Bronze Age, about 1400 to 800 BC The name Beltany is derived from the spring festival of Beltane which is associated with the lighting of hilltop fires in a rekindling of the sun. A carved stone head found at this site probably dates from the pre-Christian Iron Age which may indicate that this site was in use for many centuries after it was built. It has been said that lining up the outlier with the triangular cupmarked stone may have a solar alignment on a distant hill. #donegal #paganism #thedruidspath #gaelicireland #ancientireland #ancientlegends #beltanystonecircle #beltane

**Only 1 week to go!!** I'm delighted to welcome you to a 3 hour online experience 'Awakening Bealtaine - Embracing our Authentic Power - A Celebration of Gráinne Mhaol (or Grace O’Malley)- "Pirate Queen" of the Irish Seas'. It takes place LIVE May 5th 2024 (9am PST, 5pm Irish Time).* Recording, Workbook &CPD Cert available if you can't attend on the day*. In ancient times, Bealtaine celebrated the end of the dark half of the year and the coming of the light half. The name derives from the old Irish phrase “Bel Taine” meaning “bright fire”. In May, we will be crossing the threshold of equinox and solstice, moving into the sun's power. Fire at Bealtaine represented the ritual of sacrifice and renewal. In this workshop, we will look at the Self Abandonment wound. This is an adaptive coping strategy developed and honed since childhood, where pleasing and meeting others' needs was prioritized before our own. We explore how to embrace our inner power, separate ground, our wisdom, and intuition. We will explore how we can build a healthy relationship with anger and begin to assert healthy boundaries in our lives so as to come into our own empowered presence and authentic essence. This workshop is a celebration of Gráinne Mhaol. She is one of Ireland’s foremost heroines of the 16th century. She was a renowned seafarer and pirate who took to the high seas at age 11, a woman living an unconventional life, authentic to herself. There will be a presentation that draws on understanding from depth psychology, Psychotherapy, philosophy, literature, and poetry using images and music that evoke and stir the senses and imagination. This workshop will share with you the wisdom of irish mythology, Gráinne's story, symbolism and folklore, and the ancient landscape of Ireland, which aims to engage your heart, mind, body and spirit. Large Solid Bronze Ballyspellan Brooch Replica of the 9th century Ballyspellan Silver Bossed Penannular Brooch, found in Kilkenny, Ireland. Decorated in a mixture of Irish and Viking Age art styles, the original Ballyspellan brooch is one of the finest examples of a late penannular style. The type, characterised by the bosses, was current in various versions in Ireland in the late 9th century A.D. In Ireland they seem to represent the final stage of the manufacture of elaborately decorated penannular brooches. The lavish use of silver in their production is due to the relative abundance of that metal as a result of Viking commerce and fragments of these brooches have been found in early 10th century silver hoards. The Ballyspellan is on display in the Treasury room of the National Museum of Archaeology in Dublin. Its panels contain a tight composition of animal motifs which flourished in the Viking Age. On the back of the brooch appears four Irish names written in Ogham writing, and it has been suggested that they were the names of former owners of the brooch. Diameter: 80mm x 85mm. Pin length: 176mm Handmade in our @celtic.isles.silver forge located in Meath, Ireland 𖦹 Available on our Etsy shop. This brooch will be up for prize for one of the warrior fights at the @boynevalleyvikingexperience this year at Slane castle on the 18th & 19th of May where we will also have a stall with our jewellery range, hope to see you there! ⚔️

UPDATE: I still have another section of the tour that I completely forgot about. You will see all about it soon! My Brian Boru tour ended today in the absolutely beautiful City and County of Armagh at Navan Fort and Centre and St. Patrick's Cathedral, Church of Ireland. Boru campaigned as High King of Ireland to Emain Macha (Navan Fort) as a political statement in 1005 AD (likely close to that year) and encamped in the area. Soon after, where the Cathedral in the city stands today, he was proclaimed Emperor of the Gaels. This was recorded in the Annals of Ireland. When King Brian was slain after his victory at Clontarf 1010 years ago this month, he was brought to Armagh to be buried. Swipe to the end to see the plaque. Armagh was and still is the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, and it was an honor to visit such important sites of our history, mythology, and folklore. I was treated incredibly well by the staff and guides, especially Connell, who is an absolute gentleman. Shout out to Rosaleen, too, who hails from Kerry. Thank you for making my visit special. . . . #irishhistory #brianboru #ancientireland #navanfort #armagh #northernireland #irishtravel

Celtic Wheel Prints by @bmgartbox ✨ The celtic wheel is a solar calendar that marks the time and the seasons, an ancient wheel of connection to each phase of nature as the seeds sprouted, plants budded and bloomed, fruited, turned to seed then went to ground; these cycles repeating in an endless turning of the wheel of our lives. Our ancestors would have paid great attention to this cycle in order to survive, provide sustenance for themselves and their families and also to connect to the seasons within. Winter (Samhain) was a time of rest, retreat and being still, Spring (Imbolc) a time to slowly reignite the fire within, Summer (Beltaine) was a time of doing, action and the fastest paced time of year while Autumn (Lughnasadh) marked the start of the retreat for another cycle… Open till 7pm today 🐉 #celticwheeloftheyear #ancientireland #hibernia #éire #scotia

Nature is healing for me. Re-connecting with the elements, mother earth and the cosmos. Being outdoors, listening to the calming sound of water, wind and the beautiful songs of the birds. Feeling the sun on my face and the soft breeze touching my skin. All of this makes me feel at peace. It brings back the joy in my heart and the lust for life. Healing starts with re-connecting with your own inner nature. Your true self. The way you were meant to be - before life and education kicked in and interfered with this essence. Before all the hurt and the pain you had to go through in your life. Are you ready to re-connect with your true essence and start your healing process? Because that's what I'm passionate about: guiding women like you back into their true essence and power. Healing their mother wound and let them find peace and joy within themselves - and in nature. 😉 If you feel the call from within, send me a DM and we get you started on your journey. All over Ireland there are hundreds of sacred places, such as ancient stonecircle. Especially in the South West, where I live. Some of them hidden and in private properties. Others better known and open to the public. Those stone circles call me. They have an attraction I cannot explain. It's the beautiful landscape in which some of them are hidden. The feeling of mysticism of past cultures and times. And the feeling of having seen and experienced all of this before. In some of these places, the veil of oblivion becomes thinner. And images of past times re-emerge. Can you hear the stones call you? Would you like to let your healing journey start here with me? There are still places available for my 1:1 mentoring. 📱For more information DM. Located in the heart or The Burren, County Clare, the Aillwee Caves is a 1km long cave system thought to be 1 million years old! It was discovered in 1940 by a farmer who followed his dog inside, yet he told absolutely no one about what he had found for 30 years! Only then did it begin its transformation into a tourist hotspot. Guided tours of the cave system last approximately 30 minutes, and you can see and learn about stalactites, stalagmites, an underground waterfall, and even the bones of the long extinct Irish brown bear. There is also a dairy that sells delicious cheeses and fudge and a birds of prey centre with flying displays featuring eagles, falcons, hawks, and owls. @aillwee_burren @aillwee_farmshop #letstravelireland #letstravelclare #claretourism #theburren #ancientireland #geologyofireland #explore #discover #stalactites #stalagmites #loveireland #tourireland #Ireland

One of the things I love about Ireland is the mystical side to it. All the stories about fairies, leprechauns (they're the funny little guys with a big green hat, green old fashioned clothes and a pot for the gold 😉) and "The little people", as they're called. They are woven into the Irish culture and the children grow up with them. That's also why there is an increasing number of fairy forests, with cute little houses for the fairies. 😍 Do you believe in fairies? 🧚 I definitely do. 🥰 That's why I welcome them in my garden with little garden gnomes and other figurines. #fairy #leprechaun #gardengnome #mentoring #motherdaughter #healing #healthyboundaries #selflove #spiritualawakening #mindbodysoul #mindfulness #awareness #peaceofmind #naturelovers #ancientireland #celticmythology #hikeireland #discoverireland #travelireland #wildatlanticway

The mystical must-see that is Gougane Barra. One of the most serene and most photographed landscapes in the whole of Ireland, Gougane Barra is an ancient monastic site in West Cork. The picturesque setting really has to be seen to be believed. The monastery itself sits on a gorgeous little green island in the middle of a lake at the bottom of a mountainous valley, and dates back to the 6th century. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking, and it is the ideal spot in West Cork for cycling and walking with many walking and nature trails in Gougane Barra Forest Park. Hoping for clear skies for the Rolling Sun at the Boheh Stone this evening! The Boheh Stone is a large boulder outcrop in the environs of Clew Bay in County Mayo. The stone bears some of the most remarkable prehistoric rock art known in Ireland. With more than 250 motifs evident, it is one of the most highly decorated stones that features this style of art to be found anywhere in Ireland or Britain. In the early 1990s, Gerry Bracken, a local historian, discovered that on April 18th and August 24th a remarkable sight known as the ‘Rolling Sun’ can be witnessed from the stone. When viewed from the Boheh Stone, the sun appears to ‘roll’ down the northern shoulder of Croagh Patrick, instead of disappearing behind the mountain. The intense decoration at the spot where this phenomenon can be witnessed, is testament that it certainly meant *something* to our prehistoric ancestors. It is so fascinating to wonder at how they interpreted it, and what meaning it may have had. . . . #bohehstone #rollingsun #croaghpatrick #mayo #irisharchaeology #archaeology #rockart #petroglyphs #irishhistoryandheritage #prehistory #prehistoricireland #ancientireland
