🧡 Grateful 🧡 The first month I started typing poetry (2018), I met Tanya and her kids on the Walnut St. Bridge. It was my birthday, and my biggest wish was to go out and write. I was still so new at it; I’d only written a dozen or so on-the-spot poems at this point. Tanya shared that she’d just gone through a tough divorce, and this was my first attempt at writing on such a hard topic. We’ve loosely kept in touch via social media over the past 5+ years. I’ve watched her kids grow, and I’ve gotten to witness her healing. How cyclical that I got to write a poem to commemorate this new love. • She sent me this video on Thanksgiving day, and it added to the list of things I’m so grateful for. As if the video didn’t get me in my feelings enough, she sent me a photo of the day I typed for her. Around five years ago, I (and the city of Chattanooga, really) lost a dear friend. @bobbystone was one of the first bonds I formed when I moved here. I was starting my life over, timidly building a new community, when Bobby burst into my life with the vigor & creativity only he could.
