The album features never-before-released performances by Cole’s Trio at the „Blue Note Chicago” club, which were recorded during the Trio’s residency in 1953. The show was recorded for the club’s archives, and the material was never intended for release. It has been perfectly restored to create this new 2LP set. Nat King Cole was at his peak, and this recording captured him at a pivotal point in his career as he transitioned from a jazz powerhouse to a pop idol. He performed in Chicago with John Collins on guitar, Charlie Harris on bass, and Lee Young on drums. The album was cut from more than 10 hours of relatively slow-moving 7½ips tapes recorded with two microphones hung over the stage (dual mono) by Blue Note owner Frank Holzfeind on a then still relatively new technology, a reel-to-reel tape recorder that was discreetly located in his back office. The recording required extensive cleaning, but the final effect is very good, although some sound deficiencies and distortions are present. The album was cut by Kevin Grey. So, do not expect an audiophile ecstasy here, but rather a historical and very solid sound. Also important is the package: the glossy, top-notch quality Stoughton gatefold jacket with a beautiful insert and a reprint of an original club program. Mott the Hoople ‘All the Young Dudes 1972 on Columbia Records. One of the hallmark albums of the British glam rock movement. The title track is an enduring anthem of the genre which was written by David Bowie who gave them the song and produced the album for Ian Hunter and the boys. Probably their most successful work including ‘Dudes which charted in U.K and U.S.A. Another notable track is “Ready for Love/After Lights” which was written by Mick Ralphs who would rework the song for his post Mott band Bad Company. ‘Dudes is such a terrific example of early 70’s rock n roll. Influenced a lot of future bands. Never gets old. This album needs no introduction... But, here I go. On August 3,1987 Def Leppard releases their long awaited fourth studio album "Hysteria". It turns out to be the bands best selling album, selling over 20 million copies worldwide & having seven hit singles. The name of the album was drummer Rick Allen's idea, after his car accident, and everything that the band had to endure, he thought that it fit perfectly. Unfortunately this also is the last album that guitarist Steve Clark appears on, before his death in 1991. I'm missing the vinyl record, almost have my trifecta completed. I remember buying this record back in '87 (man, I miss the late 80s & early 90s), and the impact of it was felt far and wide. It was everywhere and it seemed like all of the songs were hits. In' 88 was when Gn'R "Appetite" was exploding, and "Hysteria" was also riding high. I was listening non stop to those 2 records, I wore them out. I grew up in the same neighborhood as BIG. @lilkimthequeenbee lived in the apartment under me in 309. I never got to personally meet BIG though I would see him around often. I really miss that dude. I miss what we never got from him. Truly hurts my heart when I think about his life was taken, his gift snatched from us, over a lie a former friend told.
