This comedy series follows two vice principals who both want the head job. When Belinda Brown is hired instead, they put their own rivalry aside to form an alliance to get rid of her by any means necessary. Reviewing- Vice Principals (2 Seasons) I had a lot of fun watching this as I found it funny for the most part. The first few episodes in particular are great and the series as a whole is very entertaining. Danny McBride and Walton Goggins make a great comedy duo and both characters bring so much to the show. Oh man. @titansofcult really has a killer with this one (I know, lame word joke 😅) . In the early phases of preproduction, the film was said to be not a "remake" nor a "reboot" but a "recalibration" of the character #MichaelMyers However, after co-Writer and Director #DavidGordonGreen and co-Writer #DannyMcBride took over the project, these two stated that it would be none of the aforementioned, and that the film was going to be a direct continuation of #Halloween from 1978. Producer #JasonBlum from @blumhouse claims to have never worked on a project as anticipated as this film. This movie became the highest grossing "Halloween" film in the franchise in its opening weekend #JamieLeeCurtis had immediately hit it off with co-writer and director David Gordon Green, crediting him as reminding her of original 1978 Halloween director and suspense master #JohnCarpenter While Carpenter intended for this film, with his involvement, to be the last definitive Halloween specifically featuring antagonist Michael Myers, co-writer McBride and Green quickly indicated that possible sequels were not out of the question, with the concept of creating a rounded trilogy. Carpenter later said that he was open to suggestions as long as he is being paid. McBride and Green got their wish, with #HalloweenKills and #HalloweenEnds completing their trilogy, with Carpenter's involvement. While the film ignores all previous sequels and reboots, it pays homage to all Halloween films, as had been intended by McBride. As with the original Halloween, Michael Myers is listed in the credits not as "Michael Myers", but "The Shape". Pineapple Express is a film from 2008 written by Seth Rogen & his writing partner Evan Goldberg and directed by David Gordon Green. It stars Seth Rogen & James Franco as a stoner and marjiuana dealer which one of them witness a murder but get in trouble as one of them drop a rare strain of marijuana called Pineapple Express which the two are now being hunted by a drug lord and a female cop. I don’t smoke or nothing like that but I had to watch this for 4/20 and this film still holds up. As a funny and overall badass film. I enjoyed rewatching Pineapple Express. The humor always got to me and still holds up. Seth Rogen and James Franco always makes things way more funnier and the two makes Dale and Saul super stupid and funny. The writing here from Goldberg and Rogen is great and they make the film funny with the story and the jokes they add on. I love the direction here also from David Gordon Green and is my favorite film of his. The negatives here is Amber Heard definitely and just the decisions on the characters here. But just revisiting this film makes me feel better. Another recent Blu-ray pickup: HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN KILLS double pack. It’s shocking that I still don’t own John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN on physical media but I’m happy to finally now have some Michael Myers in my collection. Note that I bought the double pack and not the David Gordon Green trilogy boxset—that was very much intentional. 2018’s HALLOWEEN elicited a fairly lukewarm response from me when I first saw it but it’s definitely grown on me over time. HALLOWEEN KILLS on the other hand was a big hit for me immediately after it came out. Next up is the #2011 sequel, Kung Fu Panda 2, which is also on #Peacock. Ironically, the villain of this film is a peacock, and is voiced by #GaryOldman. His name is Shen and he uses his family’s knowledge of fireworks to create devastating projectile cannons. A prophecy stated that he would be beaten by a panda, so he worked to eliminate them. I was very surprised at just how heavy that topic was, but the end credits shows that things aren’t quite so bleak. Shen has been spending years gathering metal and claiming that his newest weapon will make Kung fu obsolete. Meanwhile, Po and the Furious Five train together and are good friends. They defend the valley from villainous attacks and Shifu spends his time trying to achieve inner peace through meditation and introspection. Po realizes he was adopted, and I loved the scene where he confides in Tigress. He tells her that Ping is not his father, and she says, “The goose? That must’ve come as quite a shock.” Once again, the humor is really good, and there are some great cameos. One by #MichelleYeoh as a soothsayer and #JeanClaudeVanDamme as an alligator martial arts master. It was just as fun as the original. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Mentally drained today but I’ve posted on every day of the year so far and I can’t stop now. Rewatched THIS IS THE END last night, and while I don’t really consider it a crucial comfort film it is one that always makes me laugh and smile. So much of the comedy is beyond ridiculous but it really appeals to me. It’s such an amazing concept too, with the entire cast playing exaggerated and egocentric versions of themselves. It’s a concept I’d love to see explored in more movie projects, especially because it lends itself to so many creative and fun meta-commentary moments. It’s a shame that we never got to see the sequel that Evan Goldberg briefly teased over a decade ago. “Kung Fu Panda 2” (2011) is an animated martial arts comedy directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson starring Jack Black, Gary Oldman, Angelina Jolie & Dustin Hoffman. The year was 2011, it was my 14th birthday - my options were to watch Transformers: Dark of the Moon or this, i chose this - i made the right choice. This was an absolute solid follow up to the first film and after rewatching it, i enjoyed it even more this time around than when i was 14! The stellar voice cast returns for some more excellent voice performances with some new additions too. Dreamworks are so good at writing villains and have some of the best animated film villains of all time in my opinion, Lord Shen is a great example of that - brilliantly voiced by the amazing Gary Oldman. I just remember watching this and absolutely hating Shen for massacring Poe’s poor family and Oldman really gave such a menacing voice performance for the antagonistic peacock. The animation style and fight scenes were once again great to watch too and the film flowed very well, moving at a strong pace and not really slowing down at any occasion, at least for me. The music once again was excellent too with the return of the wonderful score, one of the more underappreciated animated film scores too in my opinion. Overall, i felt this was on par with the original film - i do think the first film was a tiny bit better but not by much. Una nueva incursión en la faceta de director del comediante Ben Stiller tras Zoolander o Un loco a domicilio. Pero su guión no solo se ríe del género bélico y concretamente de las pelis sobre la guerra de Vietnam, con grandes guiños a Apocalipsis Now o Acorralado parte II, entre otras, sino también y mucho sobre la profesión que le da de comer, la actuación. Se ríe del típico cantante que se mete a actor solo para promocionar sus productos. Del actor cómico de humor básico e irreverente. Y, como no, del actor del método, ese que se mete tanto en la preparación de su papel que hasta es capaz de operarse la tez de piel para interpretar al sargento negro mandón. Narrativamente es muy ligera gracias a que entra rápidamente en materia pero sobre todo por la cantidad de buenas coñas y complicidad de su elenco. Un elenco compuesto por el propio Ben Stiller (Los padres de ella), Jack Black (Nacho libre), Robert Downey Jr (Salidos de cuenta), Jay Baruchel (Aprendiz de brujo), Steve Coogan (The Lost King), Nick Nolte (Zooloco), Brandon T Jackson (Ali), Matthew McConaughey (Como perder a tu chico en 10 días), Danny McBride (Juerga hasta el fin), Bill Hader (Noelle), Brandon Soo Hoo (El juego de Ender) y un magnífico gordo, calvo y grosero de pelo en pecho Tom Cruise (Risky business).
