As a fan of the Sonic universe in general since I was a kid, I was pleasantly surprised to see how the Sonic movies turned out. They thankfully didn’t make the human characters too overly annoying and kept much of the focus on the series main characters. That is, until this show from @paramountplus . It started off promising. But then lost itself. Knuckles is basically a side character on his own show. In fact there are episodes where he’s basically absent for the most part and the focus is on his man baby sidekick who grew to be grating over time. The pacing of the humor was nonexistent as the whole show was hokey dumb joke after dumb joke with a focus on the human character and his family. Not only that but the main villain in the trailer was hardly in the show! In fact he just turned up for an under 5 minute final battle with not much backstory!! You can’t make this stuff up. @idriselba was the highlight of this show as a stoic Knuckles but the fact that he was wasted as a side character on his own show is blasphemous. It was also great to hear @mrchristopherlloyd as another side character, but was also hardly in the show. I honestly don’t know the point of this show. Where the movies established their characters, setting and lore with good pacing, this did little to nothing to expand on that. For a 6 episode miniseries, I expected a lot more from this show, and unfortunately what we got was a character who I didn’t care about trying to train to win a bowling tournament with Knuckles largely absent for much of it. What I can say is that if you want actually good Knuckles stories, read his 90s comics from Archie. Have you watched this show? COMENTARIOS SERIES - SIN SPOILERS - No. 048 Con 6 episodios de 30 minutos, #ParamountPlus nos trajo, #Knuckles, una aventura adicional del Sonicverso, con #IdrisElba y #AdamPally, y algunos cameos de la saga. Para no hacerlo complicado, la serie es ágil y divertida, se esmeraron en mantener una buena calidad de CGI en los personajes y en las acción, pese a ser una producción para TV, eso es destacable. La historia se parte en dos, sin ningún lío, por un lado esta el equidna rojo que tiene problemas para adaptarse a la tierra y para encontrar un motivo luego de que su misión de proteger la esmeralda finalizó, así que repasamos su origen en su camino para encontrarse, y por otro lado está Wade, el asistente de alguacil, con pinta de perdedor, que también tiene que descubrir su fuerza interior y luchar contra eventos de su niñez que lo dejaron marcado. Con más acción que drama vemos este camino de los dos amigos y sus lucha contra sus "enemigos". Es lo que es, te pasas un buen rato, sin guiones rebuscados. Knuckles é tão divertido quanto os filmes do Sonic, mas não tinha necessidade de ser uma série, um filme grande resolveria, mas ainda assim, ficou muito boa. A série se passa entre os eventos de Sonic 2 (2022) e Sonic 3 (2024), futuro filme da franquia. Enquanto luta para se ajustar à vida na Terra, Knuckles the Echidna assume um "aprendiz", o vice-xerife Wade Whipple, treinando-o nos costumes do guerreiro Echidna para ajudá-lo a se preparar para um torneio de boliche em Reno, Nevada, onde seu pai distante estará competindo. Durante sua jornada, Wade se reencontra com sua mãe e irmã, enquanto Knuckles é perseguido por um ex-agente do Dr. Robotnik, que agora busca tomar o poder do equidna para si. Com uma trilha sonora incrível, efeitos tão legais quanto os dos filmes, uma ótima fotografia, humor na medida certa, um roteiro de respeito, cenas de ação fantásticas, a série te prende e você esquece de tudo com ela. Part of me is still surprised how damn good the Sonic movies have been recently and the franchise within a franchise they’re building up. So I should definitely count my blessings that 𝐊𝐧𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐬, the short series about the echidna who does not know da wae yet, does the BARE MINIMUM to carry that momentum until the end of the year. It’s cute fluff but it doesn’t last for long. I can say production design is used both sparingly and accordingly once again without overstaying their welcome but in comparison to the previous Sonic movies, the backdrop for this adventure isn’t as exciting; the flatness of the surrounding environment is apparent and worldbuilding doesn’t feel all expanded or branched out compared to the last time we’ve seen these characters. Camerawork here is pretty basic outside of a couple of specific sequences but it’s still shot relatively well with competent editing to boot; only a few separate sequences I can name where the cinematography sparkles a bit. The action sequences start off fine enough for a TV-PG mini series but remain uninspired and the cacophony of CGI that bleeds out from the first episode onward matches that of the movies. Now if only they pulled a Detective Pikachu and opted for exaggerated lighting to better mesh with that heightened sense of reality because we don’t get a whole lot of that. Its foray of protagonists can be pretty zany at times but there’s an obvious Robotnik-shaped hole in the villain department that Rory McCann, Kid Cudi and Ellie Taylor can’t hope to follow; the ramble comedy on both sides though doesn’t make the dialogue all that gripping. You know exactly what you’re getting with a set-up that begins and ends with buddy cop shenanigans and they harbor mixed results every time depending on the what and how these types of events play out. “Knuckles” harbors no illusions as to what it’s trying to do but the way it goes about achieving those feats are somehow even more surface-level than the movies despite very few brief glimpses of intrigue that make the ride more passable. Dove il rapporto tra sanità/insanità mentale si estenda notevolmente fino a raggiungere un punto di non ritorno. La tirannia spietata mascherata da buone intenzioni, in cui il vero male viene dalla forma inflessibile e implacabile di una figura autoritaria suprema. Un microcosmo che riproduce fedelmente le dinamiche che contraddistinguono sempre gli esseri umani quando sono parte di un gruppo: il sospetto, la sopraffazione, l'abuso di potere e poi l'alleanza, la fiducia, l'empatia. Knuckles is disappointing. When this was announced I was interested to see what would they explore with Knuckles. There’s plenty of potential stories they can do with him. Unfortunately this series was a let down. I’ll just cut to the chase Knuckles isn’t the main character of the series. Wade from the previous Sonic movies is the main focus and this is what disappoints me. Knuckles is present but he’s primarily reduced to a sidekick when the series is named after him. This turned out to be overall filler because there’s no teases to Sonic 3 and the events of the series will probably not be mentioned.
