This is 🐶WINSTON💜 and he’s only got until WEDNESDAY, MAY 1st, to make it out of the shelter to enjoy his GOLDEN YEARS the way every good dog deserves! ⭐️ 14,200 views on IG, and still not safe!⭐️ 🚨URGENT RESCUE OR ADOPTION🚨 Who knows how long this old fella was on his own before coming into the shelter’s care. When Winston first arrived at the shelter in February as a stray, he was physically emaciated, and he was stuck in a hallway crate for over a month, with little real enrichment. Poor guy was very stiff, too. But with extra feedings, a kennel upgrade, and more opportunities to get out and move around, this guy has improved both physically and with lifted spirits! It would be really unfair and quite frankly very sad for his life to end now. We made him better— now we need someone else out there to carry the torch for his happily ever after. Winston is waiting! He’s got a mixed bag of playgroup notes, and maybe just uncomfortable and overwhelmed with a crowd of dogs. He can over correct if another male dog comes on too strong, and had one incident where another dog latched onto him, and was set on defending himself after staff got the other dog off him. Winston redirected onto the break stick that was used. But he’s shown us that he’s got no problem comingling one on one with bigs and smalls, and has had no issues with other large females. So if you’re worried about integrating with other dogs in the home, he can do it, if YOU DO IT RIGHT (slow and proper). A man was found de*d in a South Los Angeles home on Sunday after firefighters extinguished a blaze on the property. The Los Angeles Fire Department said crews were made aware of a house fire at 140 E. 71st St. around 7:30 p.m. Forty firefighters were able to knock down the fire in less than 15 minutes and found a 52-year-old man dead in the home after the blaze. LAFD did not release the name of the deceased. His identity and cause of death will be determined by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner. Authorities said one woman was displaced by the fire. MY FIRST HOME "Mi nombre es Augusto. I am from Guatemala and my bloodlines come from the Xinca people. Our native language is called Chiquimulilla, but it's a language that has drastically declined and is almost gone. I'm not sure if today it is still spoken back in Guatemala. In 1990, I moved here to Los Angeles looking for work and I found it. I worked in the sewing industry for over thirty years. It fed me and clothed me and I guess in many ways, that's all I ever needed. I love Los Angeles because I felt at home meeting other Guatemalans and Latinos. Here, I felt at home with the benefit of some luxuries. I've been back a few times. I bought this suit and traditional Guatemalan hat over there about six years ago. It makes me think of my second home. Los Angeles is now my first home. I would talk to you some more but I have service in five minutes. God bless you." Augusto told me, he sometimes thinks about all the clothing he ever sewed and about how many people will never know he touched the garment before it ever touched someone else's skin. Jonathan joined the Department in 2006 as a Custody Assistant and a year later he graduated from academy class #364, honorably serving the residents of Los Angeles County. During his tenure he was assigned to the Inmate Reception Center before transferring to South Los Angeles Station in 2014. In 2020, he was promoted to Field Training Officer, a position he held until his passing. Jonathan dedicated a decade serving the South Los Angeles community, he was respected and highly regarded by his peers and supervisors for his unwavering commitment. Jonathan is survived by his wife and three children.
