@littleatlinlodge was a lovely place to stay and Shannon (le owner) was an absolute pleasure chatting with. We were recommended to try a kicksled on the frozen lake and we sure as heck made the most of it! Aaahhhhh WEEEEEE!!! 🛷 I think we spent about 2-4 hours per day just sliding around dragging the dogs around in their own sled. We managed to cross the entire lake and technically reached the other shore (tempeh reached it by not falling through the snow like the rest of us so it counts). Our one day of exploration was a "quick" trip to the town with the claimed title of smallest desert in the world. There wasn't much of a desert to see as most of it was covered in snow and ice. Please enjoy this patch of sandy mud with Aya's paw print in it. The remainder of the day was spent performing the exhausting/accomplishing menial tasks around the cabin. Splitting firewood is oddly satisfying. Learning and practicing how to start fires brings nostalgia in both my brother and my mind... As well as some intrusive thoughts of arson because fire is pretty. I really love the Spruce cabin. It was the one I stayed in when @emilyampersand and I went to the Lodge before I owned it to add some chinking to the logs. Since then, I’ve added a queen bed replacing two singles, and some cool LED reading lights. New bedding and of course the robes. I have many more ideas to keep improving my guests stay here. I want to officially introduce Hayley as part of our the Little Atlin Lodge team! It’s late because she is so elusive with photos :) Hayley is a professional Sommelier with a degree in wine science and Forestry, has loads of hospitality experience and many other skills. Hayley is in charge of the guest experience, cabins, wine/whiskey/beer tastings and even sometimes plowing the roads. When I was stressing about how to run the place by myself, the former owners gave me her number as she had been interested in the property the year before. I called this stranger up out of the blue and invited her to come and live in the little Willow cabin on the property and take care of the cabins back in July. In October she quit her job and moved up from Edmonton to start at LAL. And what an amazing and essential addition to the operation she is.
