As its national record day, Soho is always worth mentioning. Of all the record shops we a lucky to have it is also worth noting the ones that are no longer there (so many) but have some interesting history. Musicland used to sit on the corner of Berwick and Noel street in the heart of Soho. As well as being the go to record shop during the amazing 1960’s and 70’s for Zeppelin, Bowie and Bolan it had a very famous ex-employee. A certain Elton ‘Hercules’ John 👓 used to serve and work in the store. He worked on a Saturday with friends when he was already successful in the early 1970’s (the shop closed in 1975). Elton has a strong bond with Soho where he recorded three albums in Trident Recording Studios, worked for Mills Music on Denmark Street then round the corner signed for Dick James Music on New Oxford Street.
