Amouage - Lyric So we continue my random Sunday posts that sometimes involve many of the Amouages I've still not done a post about. So here's Lyric, before this recent buying of samples the "Man" version was the only one I'd tried so was excited to try this version. So what was it like. It opens with a very jammy red rose and geranium with a pleasant cinnamon. The cardamon and angelica add a nice green feel in there too with a nice vegetal touch. The redder florals shine through the most with a slight weird waxy texture and yellow of the ylang-ylang. There is so much going on with it, and to me it leans nicely vintage with the modern sweetness. As it goes past the hour the sweet rich redder flowers blend with the ylang-ylang with a tiny lovely indolic touch. I'd even say at this stage there's a nice boozy hint on me. After a few hours, maybe fro. The sandalwood I get a slight hint of coconut with some vanilla and a fruity floral feel, it's a gorgeous dry down. This is another of them not very spoken about ones. Maybe another hidden masterpiece from them. It's not anything wild or crazy out there but it's just so complex and so beautiful. It is unique in that Amouage way. I do love this one. Amouage Roses. To my nose, the easiest to wear is Imitation Man, even with its strange vinyl scent. The smoothest, most elegant one is Lyric Woman. Even though I've only worn it once so far, it's made a wonderful impression. The most challenging? Most people would probably say Opus X, but the more I wear it, the more comforting I find it. To me, Lyric Man is the most difficult to wear. The rose here will always remind me of Grandma's bathroom. A lot of men seem to love it, though. The rose in Opus XII - Rose Incense reminds me of that in Lyric Man somewhat, except it gets jammier and is not as soapy. Do you enjoy Amouage rose fragrances? SOTD: Lyric Woman from Amouage. This is an Amouage that I've wanted to try/own for years, and finally, I do. It's not as spicy or incensy as I expected, but it is beautiful. ON A BED OF ROSES Lyric Woman @amouageofficial was a blind buy…..always dangerous but luckily it turned out wellI! It was not a love a first sniff, and especially the opening was a bit difficult for me in the beginning, but as often the case with Amouage, the fragrance is growing on me. The opening is fresh and spicy with ginger, cardamom and bergamot, leaning a bit masculine to my nose, with an almost fougère vibe. The heart gets right into my taste, with a vintage style soapy and powdery rose, warm and spicy with cinnamon staying in the background. The dry down is the best part of this fragrance, balsamic, warm and mysterious. And I say mysterious, because it’s so well blended that it’s hard for me to dissect in separate notes. So all in all, another beautiful addition to my growing Amouage collection, and the ideal choice on this cold and grey day. Wishing everybody a beautiful Wednesday! What a day! Work drama and school drama combined 😱. Day 3 of #chyprechallenge by @amina.dicko is Amouage Lyric Woman, a modern Spicy Floral Chypre. This one, I must admit, hasn't gotten the love it deserves from me. All of that came to light today as I dwelled on the coziness of it. I really enjoy that the rose isn't too prominent, rather, it goes along with the other florals here, while remaining present. Cardamon and ginger adds a nice contrast to this play of florals and adds some depth that came around at the end of the day today. The Scent of a Rose #4 In this serie I want to show case my favorite rose fragrances. Rose was far from a note I used to enjoy, the thing was, it all depends on the way its presented, lately I discover that I indeed love the scent of a rose but involved in mystery, darkness and spices. @amouageofficial Lyric it's like a velvet dark petal, a soft powdery rose sorrounded by balsamics notes and soft incense, it's light but with an almost abstract deepness in notes, the blend it's perfectly balance making it not heavy yet you can feel all its complexity in a soft and light way. Probably one of the most romantic scents in my collection. With this one I finish my Scent of a Rose, for now at least. Sotd is Lyric Woman 🖤🥀 I don't like rose in perfumery, but Lyric is unlike the smell of the real flower or any other rose dominant scent out there (for reference, Epic Woman, while still complex, is much more of a rose perfume to me than this). The echo of rose in Lyric feels destructed and then reconstructed to better match the image of dark, dusty, velvety red petals from one's imagination. Lyric is complex and out of the ordinary, it is a lot of things and then none of them at all. Heavily embalmed in fatty, waxy ylang, incense smoke, sandalwood and spice. Rose feels more like a connecting element rather than the main focus. And the placement of sandalwood here is delightful to me, again an imaginary reconstruction that translates into a thick layer of abstract white wood.
