We've been a few places and seen a few things... This was an incredible part of my journey last year where I got to show my mom a part of my crazy lifestyle and share some of my favorite spots I discovered on my journey. We spent a little over a week in 3 different locations and she got a T@b to camp alongside me. We had an epic last night laying on our backs on the picnic table bench staring at stars and being serenaded by the coyotes chatting about our life and dreams. These moments are the stuff that dreams are made of. My heart still skips a beat when I look back. It was worth spending every bit of my hard earned savings for just this moment in time. I feel like the richest woman in the world. I'm back at work and feeling a little road sick since I've been home, but so grateful for every bit of this journey from start to finish. I would do it all again the exact same way. Still dreaming about these moments. They were pure magic.✨

|Six Month| This past Saturday marked the six-month milestone of my recovery, and I’m happy to say that things are sailing along smoothly. For the past couple of months, I’ve been fortunate enough to get out on skis and ropes multiple times. It felt wonderful to be immersed once again in the communities I care about so deeply. . Today marks the day I’m officially cleared to resume highlining, flying, and all my regular scheduled activities. Let me tell you, it’s quite the sensation. t w o y e a r s c a n c e r f r e e april 19, 2022 changed my life forever. the death of the part of my body that was trying to unalive me + the beginning of what my life would forever be as a breast cancer survivor. losing part of my body that I absolutely loved while also knowing that I had to lose them in order to protect my life is such an interesting feeling to process even two years later. I still mourn the person I was prior to this day— however, the woman who woke up from surgery on 4.19 knew she had just conquered one of the most difficult days of her life + everything moving forward wouldn’t even compare. those who haven’t been affected by cancer see beating cancer as an end, while those of us who have dealt with this incredibly heartbreaking disease know that beating cancer is truly the beginning. survivorship is hard af 🫠 appearing healthy, yet always a slight fear that the cancer could come back or having to fight for follow up appointments bc your cancer center says “you don’t have cancer you don’t need to see an oncologist.” or always worrying if your foobs look “normal,” feeling the need to get checked anytime you notice any inconsistencies in your body bc “it’s probably nothing” can be highly triggering, or trying to decipher when to tell a potential partner about your diagnosis. simple things such as giving out your number instead of your ig bc you want people to know you for you + not “victoria the breast cancer survivor.” none of this is in any way shame related, I’m so proud to say I’m a breast cancer survivor + that I am thriving two years later. it’s just always been my mission post diagnosis to let people in on the realities of being diagnosed with breast cancer, especially as a young woman, especially as a young Black woman. while the past two years have been extremely ghetto, + yeah I would have rather not gotten cancer, I am so so proud of the roses that have grown from the thorn of cancer in my body. I’ve met some of thee most beautiful humans, I’ve learned truly how strong I am, found new meaning in leaning on God + I’ve taken more ownership over my life + what I want that to look like more than ever before. two years down💪🏾

✈️ As I write this, I’m on a plane, circling Chicago O’Hare airport, caught in a holding pattern due to an emergency on the ground. Like many of my fellow passengers with connections, I’m doing mental math calculating how this delay will affect my connecting flight. So far, I’m okay. Whether you call it breathing room, a buffer, or building in space for slack in the system, I book flights with more extended layovers - two hours is my bare minimum. What I’ve learned by flying over 100,000 miles annually is the stress of racing through airports, the anxiety of potentially missed flights, the time needed to rebook flights, the mental exhaustion of constant worry, and the ripple effect of all of this on my team, conference organizers, my family, not to mention the passion for my work, isn’t worth it. It’s not only about avoiding missed connections—it’s about protecting my energy in the moment and investing in the sustainability of my vitality over the long run. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate that we don’t always have control over our time. Sometimes, life throws so much at us that staying afloat feels like a monumental achievement. However, I’ve come to realize, both from my own experience and observing those around me, that WE often make commitments, accept meetings, or approach situations that leave little to no wiggle room. We then beat ourselves up, burn ourselves out, and blame others when things fail. Ask yourself: Where can you add some breathing room in your life to allow you to bring your best, most vital self to the people, projects, and pursuits that matter most to you? Oh, and in case you were wondering—I did make my connection.
