Rotation #6: Peds 👶 May or may not be a little biased but getting to rotate at the #1 Children’s hospital when you’re interested in peds just hit a little different 🫢 One of my favorite things about this rotation was the ✨variety✨ ✽ Two weeks of hospital medicine ✽ Two weeks of inpatient endocrine/nephrology ✽ Two weeks of primary care (+ a few mornings in the Children’s ED) ✽ One week of outpatient nephrology ✽ One week of newborn nursery Lots of RSV and asthma (amongst other things of course lol) on hospital medicine, DKA, some primary polydipsia and lots of kiddos w/ kidney transplants on endo/nephro, too many well child visits to count (which I personally didn’t mind lol I love just chit chatting with kids and their families 😂), mainly infectious type stuff in the ED, saw some of my same patients for their post-discharge visits on outpatient nephro which was cool, and got to practice newborn exams on cute little babies (one had a broken clavicle!!) Still don’t have developmental milestones or the vaccine schedule down, but we’ll get there 😂 All in all lots of learning, growth, and most importantly ✨confirmation✨ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #premed #premedstudent #medstudent #medschool #studentdoctor #prehealth #mph #publichealth #futuremd #futuredoc #futuredoctor #mdtobe #medicine #pediatrician #minoritiesinmedicine #womeninmedicine #nontraditionalstudent #applyingtomedschool #accepted #journeytomedicine #classof2025 #mdclassof2025 #mdloading #study #studywithme #studygram #pediatrics

The key to getting through residency with a healthy and happy mind has been PEOPLE and the OUTDOORS. 🔶 1: Since becoming chief in March my days have been a lot busier. Despite that I am having so much fun with my two co-chiefs. The support, problem solving and daily ranting we do together is re-invigorating lol 2: Going to different parks and enjoying the sun, turtles, fish, birds and sounds of nature always slows my breathing and heart rate down to a point of relaxation. I love to sit and do daily gratitude on a bench overlooking the water. Remind myself what a blessing my life and career are despite its challenges. 3: Going out as a class is so much fun! Make sure you try to go to as many events as possible, you only get to be around all these amazing people for a limited amt of time. Learn from them! I love sitting in the lounge discussing cases with my co-res. 4,5: My favorite park on a bench with one of my besties who also enjoys the outdoors. Hang out with people who uplift you and bring positive energy! We also both enjoy feeling the water on our feet and trying to skip rocks after having a picnic lol I love my friends 💕 6,7: Growing tomatoes thanks to one of my resident besties and co chief who re-inspired my love for plants. Watering them every morning and feeling the sun or sitting on my porch and legit staring at it makes me so happy! Seeing the beauty of bamboo at the park is so stunning! 8: Going on dates and having a supportive, loving husband is definitely top tier. I feel so lucky! 9: Playing with pizza dough after eating 10 home made pizzas with my co-residents at another social event. Go out y’all! Here I went after my shift with my messed up hair and super tired but I loved it! #latinasinmedicine #minoritiesinmedicine #latinosinmedicine

LONG POST‼️ If you asked 4-year- old Bre what she wanted to be when she grew up, the response would be a “singing/dancing doctor.” I’m not sure about the singing and dancing part, but here we are 22 years later. To walk in my purpose was a calling I took seriously. It isn’t always easy but it’s worth the sacrifice. Reaching this goal is a testament to the faithful, loving, and strong support system I have. Every mentor, friend, cousin, colleague, and more helped me blossom into the woman I am today. I am eternally grateful for my village. 6 more days!! #blackdoctor #blackphysician #blackgirlsgraduate #medstudent #medicine #medicalschool #medschoolgraduation #minoritiesinmedicine #blackgraduate #womeninstem

Applying to PA school is expensive, so finding ways to reduce costs is a must! I’m a strong believer that reducing barriers to pursuing higher education is so important. This program was especially helpful for me and I wanted to share it with you all! The main thing with this waiver is you want to be ready to submit, since you only have 14 days after approval to use it. Make sure your LORs are in, transcripts are correct and processed, and all narratives are free of typos/presentable since you will be going through verification that only happens after initial submission! (Meaning what you have in your application so far is locked for the cycle) Let me know if you have any questions and good luck!🥳 #prepa #prepajourney #paschool #physicianassistant #pastudent #prephysicianassistantstudent #prepastudent #pastudentproblems #physicianassistantschool #physicianassistantlife #medicine #physicianassociate #physicianassistantstudent #pa #palife #womeninmedicine #minoritiesinmedicine #prepaclub #premed #prehealthstudent #medicine #pathtopa #futurepa #caspa

Getting accepted to PA school with a low GPA is possible! There are many other ways to make yourself stand out and provide reassurance that you will make a great PA student and PA. When applying to programs check that you meet their minimum GPA requirements. I highly suggest retaking prerequisite courses because these are VERY important to make your case. In supplemental essays, clearly explain the context of what may have caused academic deficiencies in the past and demonstrate how you have grown from this. To all my low-GPA prospective applicants, don’t doubt yourself and use this time to convey how you will make a great PA✨ #prepa #prepajourney #paschool #physicianassistant #pastudent #prephysicianassistantstudent #prepastudent #pastudentproblems #physicianassistantschool #physicianassistantlife #medicine #physicianassociate #physicianassistantstudent #pa #palife #womeninmedicine #minoritiesinmedicine #prepaclub #premed #prehealthstudent #medicine #pathtopa #futurepa #caspa
