No one prepares you for when your last kid is graduating high school and about to fly the nest… This mama isn’t ready but she’s moving forward with the actions as they come. Today we had our youngest sons senior piano recital and followed it up with an early graduation party. It was a beautiful day with friends and family. AND I think moms should be allowed to express that it’s hard without catching grief that you’re not focusing enough on how you raise them to go out in their own. Just let the mama be in her feels. She will get through it and she doesn’t need the guilt from others. 🥰

Well now we see where my love of turtlenecks comes from ❤️. My mom reminded me today about my first Mother’s Day…a traumatic memory I had buried and which I still don’t remember well. The boys were in the NICU after being delivered 10 weeks early and I was still mourning the “normal and healthy” pregnancy and babies I had hoped and prayed for, while celebrating the fact that they would be coming home with me one day. And so began the hardest job of my life. Through every single up and down in my life, every celebration and every perceived tragedy, my mom has been a constant force of love, encouragement and support. This is an irreplaceable and unbreakable bond which I will never be able to fully pay back to her and for which I am forever grateful. It is because of my mom and village of other women who I am blessed to be surrounded by (including my amazing personal assistant and the entire superstar team at my office), that I was able to open my own practice during the craziness of this past year, and have some semblance of work-life balance, although we all know that balance never really exists and that there is constant guilt that I’m never around enough for my kids. And OMG, the mom guilt is so real. Today and every day, I want to celebrate all of us moms, who are absolute heroes, being everything to everyone, and navigating through the daily messiness, craziness and unpredictability of raising children. It’s not neat, it’s not pretty and it definitely isn’t perfect. Well now we see where my love of turtlenecks comes from ❤️. My mom reminded me today about my first Mother’s Day…a traumatic memory I had buried and which I still don’t remember well. The boys were in the NICU after being delivered 10 weeks early and I was still mourning the “normal and healthy” pregnancy and babies I had hoped and prayed for, while celebrating the fact that they would be coming home with me one day. And so began the hardest job of my life. Through every single up and down in my life, every celebration and every perceived tragedy, my mom has been a constant force of love, encouragement and support. This is an irreplaceable and unbreakable bond which I will never be able to fully pay back to her and for which I am forever grateful. It is because of my mom and village of other women who I am blessed to be surrounded by (including my amazing personal assistant and the entire superstar team at my office), that I was able to open my own practice during the craziness of this past year, and have some semblance of work-life balance, although we all know that balance never really exists and that there is constant guilt that I’m never around enough for my kids. And OMG, the mom guilt is so real. Today and every day, I want to celebrate all of us moms, who are absolute heroes, being everything to everyone, and navigating through the daily messiness, craziness and unpredictability of raising children. It’s not neat, it’s not pretty and it definitely isn’t perfect. Time is the ultimate luxury. As I approach the nine-year mark since starting Digital 24, I've been thinking about what benefit does business ownership bring. My mum was only 64, had MS, and was in a wheelchair when I started Digital 24 back in May 2015. As a self-employed person, it gave me the flexibility to be with her —whether at home or when she was in hospital. Those initial months were a testament to the value of time; time that business ownership afforded me to spend with the most cherished person in my life. Only six months after starting Digital 24 she sadly passed away. It's a sorrow that lingers more than I ever talk about. I would love nothing more than for her to see me now. Everything I do has been fueled by a desire to make her proud, and I often find myself thinking about what she would think. Her life, one of privilege in the sense she didn't have to work when she married my dad, meant that she devoted herself entirely to our upbringing. We were blessed with a childhood rich in love and care. Nine years on, as I look back - it's these reflections that resonate the most—acknowledging that beyond the digital strategies and campaigns, it's the human connections and the time well-spent with those we love that define true success. Time really is the ultimate luxury - use it wisely.
