Race car 🏎️ . . Sometimes shit happens. At this last autocross event I blew a power steering line, but was able to bypass the power steering, and continue racing the next day. It was kind of a pain to drive without power steering but at the same time the steering is much more responsive. Daily driving and auto crossing this car the taught me a lot. Especially cause when something breaks I have to be able to drive the car the next day. After a cutback week last week, I’m back to a 30 mile week for the week, but it was a challenge to get here. Tuesday-got a call at 2.5 miles into 5 miles that my daughter had someone in her class stick something in her hair and I needed to come get her. Ran 2.5 miles back to my house as quick as I could. Wednesday- lifted HEAVY leg day and my legs felt like lead for my 5 mile run—got it done but it wasn’t pretty. Thursday- my daughter told me before I dropped her off that her tummy was upset, it’s a fairly normal occurrence for her so I didn’t think too much of it. Got .5 miles into my run and got a call that she threw up at school. Ran home again to drive to get her. Got her situated in bed and went out to try to accomplish my 8 miles—she text me that she threw up again at 5 miles. I ran home and called it a day at 6.5 miles total. Today—tacked that extra mileage from Thursday that I missed on to today for 2 reasons, it would get my up to the longest distance I’ll run before my half in 4 weeks, secondly that means I can start tapering and I could use a nice long taper. Most of the miles today were harder (faster/higher hr) than I normally would on a long run especially after this week of harder miles but sometimes you just have to run by true feel and not numbers. I actually ended up running my last 3.5 miles faster than most of the other 10 miles. Proving that sometimes you just have to tell your legs and brain to shut up, and push past the discomfort and explore the “pain cave” a little bit. PS this run was NOT a half PR. I only started using Strava last year.
