This once industrial shipbuilding area of Glasgow both north and south of the Clyde was bustling throughout the early 20th century, it slowly turned derelict and dilapidated towards the 80s and 90s however regeneration was just around the corner. This area is now home to the Riverside Museum of Transport and Glasgow Life + The Tall Ship (which is not in shot) the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (S.E.C.C) which is now the Scottish Event Campus. Channel 4 property show Location Location Location has amassed nearly 400 episodes over 40 series since launching way back in 2000, and as one of the UK's premier cities and a property hotspot, Glasgow has featured in a number of these. First week as a BBC Apprentice. My brain is yet to fully process the reality I've faced in the last few days - it's not a joke, it's not a dream, I'm actually part of the BBC now. We spent the first few days in @bbcscotland HQ in Glasgow's Pacific Quay, where I met my fellow apprentices Ollie, Jamie and Zainab (they don't seem like it, but we DID have fun on the train to London), along with some of the warmest, eager-to-help colleagues ❤️ We moved to London towards the end of the week and I still cannot believe that this small-village girl with a funny accent made it all the way to the Broadcasting House 🥹 I've met so many inspirational apprentices who have already achieved great things and sky is the limit for them. I took the last pic while working from Glasgow and you can see Priemer Inn located right next to the BBC building on it. When I moved to Scotland seven years ago, for two years I worked in that hotel. Every day on my way to work and when I was cleaning the rooms, I dreamed that one day I would work in the building next door. Every day, I walked home discouraged, thinking I was being too naive. Glasgow Science Centre, 50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow, G51 1EA This great place is situated on the waterfront of the River Clyde. There are three floors of interactive exhibits, a planetarium, the Glasgow tower, an IMAX cinema and a science show theatre. We paid an extra £3.50 each for a fantastic show at the planetarium. On the first floor are all kinds of interactive exhibits for people of all ages, an illusional exhibition and a brilliant exhibition about space and planets. On this floor there is also an under 7s play area with water play and a separate baby area. The second floor offers exhibitions about how science can influence and power the future, with exhibitions about sustainable energy and medical advances. On the top floor is the Bodywork’s exhibition with eight exhibitions about the science of our bodies including fighting diseases, our heartbeat and our DNA. On the ground floor there is a cafe serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and light meals and also a large picnic area. There is also a gift shop and other exhibits outside. Admission costs £14 for adults and £11 for children, children under 3 are FREE. Wednesday will mark 35 years to the day that one of the most important events began in the city. April 26th 1988 was the first time the gates of the Glasgow garden festival were open to the public with the official royal opening taking place on the 29th. I was 11 years old and I remember it being a long hot summer and visiting the festival almost every week.
