Rivers and boats are the elements of Glasgow. It was prosperous in history thanks to the construction of its docks with the assistance of the Morrison family centuries ago. Nowadays, the Morrison family built the distillery in Glasgow. The logo was inspired by the local warehouse roof shape. The label also uses a junction of red and white bricks to represent the waterline on the surface of the hull. It echoes the local lifestyle that the people there have been living for hundreds of years. By witnessing vessels docking and departing. Whereas, Clydeside is just ready for its great tour. A long overdue post from my visit to Clydeside Distillery last month! This one was a couple of firsts for me, first time at the distillery and first time I've tried Clydeside whisky. Arriving on a beautiful sunny Spring day with the Clyde glistening in the sunlight really showed off the historic building, an old pumphouse, perfectly. The first couple of areas of the tour had a different feel to any other distillery that I have been to - more of an exhibition feel to it with the layout and presentation, just a little more time to take it all in would have been ideal. Moving on through, the production area leads into the stillhouse with a pair of stills overlooking the Clyde. From there the tour moves past an impressive collection of rare vintage whiskies before ending up in the tasting room. This particular tour got to sample Clydeside new make spirit, the Sherry cask and Bourbon casked whisky before a dram of Stobcross, which is made up of the previous two. GBSCOT50 W7 D6 - 16mi PPARC Titan Crane I had just 6 miles left to meet my weekly plan. Despite my commitment to sticking to my mileage, I couldn't resist the allure of the @press_play_and_run_podcast Long Sunday run, which was headed to the Titan Crane at Clydebank on an out n' back route. I had missed out on joining them a few weeks ago, so I jumped at the chance this time around. For many in the group, this would be their final long run before the upcoming Manchester or London marathons. The atmosphere at these runs is always lively, but today there was an extra buzz as everyone honed in on their goals. I tagged along with @happy_running_sober for the first 5 miles; he's gearing up for the Manchester marathon next weekend, and wisely turned back at that point, leaving me to continue on solo. Once I reached the crane and turned around, there was a noticeable change in pace. It wasn't my legs driving it, but rather the strong winds from Storm Kathleen, now pushing me forward instead of holding me back. The journey back felt effortless, maintaining a steady pace of around low 8-minute miles. Before I knew it, I had unintentionally achieved a negative split session. I noticed the Glasgow Tower has reopened to the public this month for the summer season. Here are a few images from around 2001 when the project was coming to completion. The Tower was originally designed by Richard Horden and was included in the Science Centre development by Building Design Partnership. Image 3 was taken from the Bell Tower of the Gilbert Scott Building at the University of Glasgow. Netflix' new science fiction series 3 Body Problem swaps Glasgow's role as a shipbuilding hub for that of naval base in a brief scene. The fifth episode opens with Thomas Wade (Liam Cunningham) approaching Royal Navy officer Raj Varma (Saamer Usmani) on a nondescript concrete pier where grey ships are moored against a grey sky. The setting is revealed when Wade says "Ask yourself why I'd come all the way to f**king Govan to find you." How wonderful to meet Madeline along the waterfront as I cycled home 🚴♀️x On her gap year from Uni she has chosen to help support the connecting and resorting of cycle networks to keep people safer cycling, along with linking major routes together🏴x She noticed a huge difference in the conditions of Glasgows roads compared to her home town in Cardiff and is out doing something about it 🙌🏼x I have seen the roads decline over many years in the city and this effects my confidence, triathlon training and enjoyment of my bike 😵💫x Living with the results of a road traffic accident is life changing, irreversible and can be avoided if paths and routes were bike/city 🚗 friendly. Yesterday started off great 😊 dropped Arya off to get her bath 🐶 🧼 went in to town and got some bits and bobs, returned home and walked in to WW3. Now, it’s all quiet on the western front.
