Located in Saxapahaw, this program includes riverside hikes, nature crafts, hands-on heart-based environmental education, and – of course – paddling! We use both traditional instruction and on-water games to teach campers to paddle kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddle boards. While they're playing, your kids will be learning boat rescue and river safety, plant identification, river monitoring techniques, teamwork skills, and more! Well, turns out it is possible to paddleboard & camp in the Abel Tasman National Park 😍 pretty stoked with how it went, considering the weather was looking iffy right until the last minute. We boated from Marahau to Bark Bay, then paddled to Mosquito Bay (boat access only campsite) then got up super early and paddled from Mosquito Bay back to Marahau, with the highlight being the sunrise 🤩 We made such good time that we ended up deviating over to Adele Island & having breakfast before we headed back 🤣 I probably need to learn to pack even lighter, but managed to split items between the two boards & fit everything into one big dry bag & essentials in the small dry bag. Next challenge? Paddle the whole Abel Tasman 😳 think this might need to happen in the next couple of months.. *gulp*

Paddle camping in all the colors 💙🧡💚💛 I first came to this park three years ago and looked out in awe at the sparkling blue Diablo Lake from above. Later that day in the backcountry permit office, I found out there were campsites out on the little islands that could only be accessed by water. I knew right then that was how I wanted to experience this beautiful body of water next time. Fast forward to this week when @jacobramsden and I started heading down the North Cascades Highway ready to spend the night somewhere in the wilderness and I remembered those hidden gem campsites. We were able to snag a permit for the night, so we packed up our gear in dry bags and loaded up our paddle boards. SUP Training *CAMPS* are designed primarily around stand up paddling (SUP) and paddle surfing with lifestyle and wellness pieces worked in; and you may choose to enjoy some local activities. If you really want to take your skills to the next level these are what you want to join us for. Due to how much paddling attendees will be doing we recommend at least some paddling experience; intermediate to elite paddlers, whether or not your race, will enjoy these.
