My heart is so full! 🛩️ Jettin Across WYO 🛩️ could not have turned out more perfect. Delta delivered this beautiful bay roan filly yesterday at 351 days for a May Day baby around 4 a.m. She is a natural momma and has done wonderful every step of the way! This filly is a great “first” into the breeding program I am working to build, and most of all she is so beyond meaningful. She’s not just out of my heart horse, she’s the byproduct of sharing my story. She’s my first foal from my first true barrel horse, and as you all know my journey hasn’t been for the faint of heart. I’m so grateful the foal I’ve prayed so heavily for is here and healthy. Receiving this breeding was the biggest blessing, giving me the confidence and opportunity to breed my most special girl. Words will never be enough to express my gratitude. Both my babies were not in the “ideal” position for birthing. Keilani was too far forward, leaning with her head on my pubic bone and therefore unable to descend (supposedly). Raiden was in posterior position, back-to-back, which (supposedly) is known to cause a longer, more painful labour. The difference between these two births is that with Keilani it became the thing to focus on since my midwife thought that was necessary. As for Raiden, there was nobody telling me anything. And I had the full trust he would find his way out. Keilani’s birth was 40 hours. Raiden’s birth only 2,5 hours. Raiden was born sideways by the way. 😆 As in: facing my left inner thigh. I had felt him wanting to turn during the contractions, but I guess in the end it didn’t really matter which direction he was facing. The only thing that mattered was my ability to trust in my body and relax in the process. In Keilani’s birth the fear of others about her position lead to me being guided into doing certain movements to help the baby shift. Those movements (although they worked) didn’t come from my inner being. It was so extremely strenuous and demanding; I was bruised for weeks after that journey. Whereas with Raiden, I had let go of my fear of his position about a week before birth (because yeah it did f*ck with my mind for a while). That journey and the positioning and movements I chose were fully guided by my body’s intuition and Raiden himself.
