Today marks the 4th year anniversary of #TruePlantLove! This is a special project I began in March 2020 to show love to fellow #plantlovers in the online #plantcommunity and to encourage everyone to join me in spreading joy and practicing acts of kindness to each other and to the greater community. I created two hashtags as part of #TPLProject - #TruePlantLove and #tpl_community. I announced the project on 3/2/2020 and offered by first TPL giveaway box the following day on 3/3/2020. Since then, our True Plant Love community has celebrated 3 box giveaways, five IGTV live community events, three charity auctions and a growing number of community collaborations. Those tagged are just a few collaborators that have embraced the spirit of True Plant Love. I chose to start this project four years ago to do my part in bringing our plant community closer. I am not only a #houseplantcollector, I am a maker. And I thought it would be fun to share my joy for plants and crafting with my #plantlove online family! Flashback Friday featuring my Philodendron pink princess 💕👸 Right now, this plant is SO tall that it’s really hard to take a nice photo of it. I will make a reel eventually 😅 ✨Plant tips: Humidity- PPP’s LOVE humidity, preferably above 50%. She likes to stay moist and only slightly dry out in between watering. She likes bright indirect light but no direct sunlight or else the pink color may bleach into a whiter color. I personally use grow lights to give her even, consistent light. There’s been some death but for the most part it seems to be adjusting well and putting out new growths!🪴 I hope in the future I can have this plant hanging, with hearts trailing down. Hi plant friends🌿 today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite pendant anthuriums, anthurium pendens. This plant is endemic to the costal/ hill areas of Panama and Columbia. Something really fun about this plant is the apex (or tip) of the leaf will always grown down towards the ground, even if it’s planted upright. I absolutely love the strappy leaves of this plant! They need a repot soon 🪴

These leaves are a mix of everything that I love in philodendrons! Unfortunately this beautiful species has been added to the endangered list as it will likely lose its habitat in the native jungle. 🍃This plant is a Euphorbia milii, or known better as their common name ‘crown of thorns’ 👑Once established and well cared for, this plant will put out continuous blooms. I especially appreciate that during the winter months.🤍This plant is native to Madagascar and there are now a variety of hybrids created for a range of flower colors. The original flower color was red, and now there are orange, pink, purple, yellow, white, and bi-color✨One thing that is unique to Euphorbias is that their inflorences are cyathia, which consists of a cup shaped grouping of fused bracts that enclose reduced male flowers and a single female flower🌿Would it be useful if I created a diagram and more thorough post about euphorbia inflorescences? This plant was gifted to @acoupleof_fish when he visited the remote Alaska village of Kwethluk, so that is their nickname here🥰

This plant is anthurium arisaemoides, a recent addition to our collection🌿The leaves are trisect( divided into three parts ) and bullate ( blistered or puckered ), making it unique in the anthurium genus✨The holotype( physical example of an organism, used when the species was formally described ) was collected in 1976, and the species was first published and accepted in 1978🏔At the type locality of the Cutucu mountains in Ecuador, it grows terrestrially in the dense forest understory, often growing in soil in small groups or at the base of trees🌳It does not grow at particularly high elevations. Once established, this plant will slowly ramble, meaning it is not a self header. The native range is Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru🌎I am excited to grow this plant in my greenhouse tent, I hope they like it there! Stay tuned for growth updates🥰🤍

Crispy leaves, aka Calatheas gonna calathea… The lancifolia, aka rattlesnake, is ironically one of the hardiest and most resilient of my Calathea clan (you should see the sorry state of the setosas!!). They get regular room temperature with no added humidity- and tap water. I’m ok with it. As is Minnie. The Philodendron 69686 This mysterious lil guy found its way into my collection over a year ago as a tiny baby with shapeless leaves and shoots. Since then its developed the longer leaves and shape of the mature form. This species was originally named by Dr. Croat, an American botanist. The plant was given the accession number 69686 since little information was known about about its origin, and hence kept the name as the accession number. She likes to stay moist and only slightly dry out in between watering. She likes bright indirect light but no direct sunlight or else the pink color may bleach into a whiter color.
