Matooke is one the main dishes in Uganda. It is also referred to as "green bananas" or a type of "plantain". Unlike most types of bananas, matooke cannot be eaten raw because they have a high starch content. It is harvested when it is green, cautiously peeled, cooked and mashed into a meal. Traditionally, matooke is steamed in the leaves of its plant, adding to the dish a delicious taste. In Uganda we eat it with G-nut sauce (groundnut sauce) or with a stew made out of meat, fish or vegetables. I present to you plantain fufu & Eforiro (spinach stew) To accomplish plantain fufu I blended two plantains with water, added it to the pot, let it get hot and then added powdered plantain fufu (whisk in it) until it is thick then use a wooden spoon to pound it.... Once pounded it is pretty much cooked but you can give it another 2 or 3mns on the fire...... Today's Efo delicacies are smoked goat, smoked turkey, beef tripe, dried seafood, I'll circle back on how I make Efo 😘.

Over all rating 5/10 *Side note all rice in dinners was not cooked all the way. Crunchy rice others might enjoy but not me. Also all the cabbage in meals was not cooked all the way either. I like a little crunch in my cabbage with a little soft. But this was WAY UNDER COOKED! -Curry Goat (not pictured) 8/10 *Besides the rice and cabbage was good *A little Spicer than other Curry Goat I have had but it was flavored well and tender -Big Man Burrito 7/10 -Stuffed in a beef patty crust and coco bread *inside mac and cheese was a little hard like it had been sitting all day *beef and oxtail were inside also the oxtail was extremely spicy. WORST MISTAKE! *oxtail was tender but again I love jamician food but again soooo spicy I have eaten oxtail too many times to count. I feel like burned my taste buds off than to have undercooked rice and cabbage I threw the entire meal -rasta pasta 5/10 *no flavor but hot! Found 3 sonnet bonet peppers in the pasta *very stiff no creamy smooth texture like I have had with plenty other rasta pastas *hot doesn't make good jamician food people whew!!! -plantains 8/10 *usually when u order an entree at any other jamician restaurant you get ur meat cabbage rice and plantains *well not the case here we had to order the plantains extra as a side. *they were cooked well sweet, no complaints expext having to order and pay extra as a side. Using @bingingwithbabish 's recipe which was inspired by @jonfavreau 's movie "Chef." The pork brined overnight, then marinated for a couple hours today in mojo, then slow roasted for 3 hours.
