The Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is spectacular right now! This stroller-friendly walk takes you through the most beautiful gardens and along lakes. In addition to flowers of all colors, we saw nutria (invasive but fun to watch nonetheless), geese sitting on eggs, a broken goose egg, gnarly trees, fountains, and small waterfalls. The highlight of our walk, however, was the stroller packed with 4 bunnies…I can’t guarantee those when you visit 🤣🐰 $5 for people over 11 years a old and free for younger. Today, we hiked around Reed Lake. It is such a fun little loop, and we even saw some geese eggs in a nest! I imagine the area will only get more wonderful as spring progresses. I haven’t hiked this loop since we scouted it in fall 2022. Since then, gates have been installed on the recommended parking area. One of the cool things about being local to the area is that I can revise my hiking guides as needed. We recently completed a project for a local family where we organized and digitized their family photos from 1970-2000. The albums had put together by various themes but they wanted to reorganize them chronologically, digitize them and then move the originals into archival storage containers. We sorted photos out of 15 photo albums and a large bag of loose photos. We edited out over 1000 images for them (duplicates, blurry photos, backs of heads, severely under or over exposed images) and then digitized over 2000 images, sorted them into years and moved them into archival storage. We often get asked how we date photos that aren’t from our families. We use a lot of methods: dates on back of photos, time stamps printed on photos, signage in the photos (we often use a magnifying glass to look at things like t-shirts, trophies and signs for dates) and well as clothing and hairstyles.
