Just two small words were uttered and a day out was immediately planned... Lego Dinosaurs... I mean - you had me at Lego, but add the dinos part and it was just a case of where and when?? 🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕 The answer is Southport over the Easter holiday period 2024. Starting on Good Friday, the 29th March and continuing until 14th April 2024, 12 large scale Lego Dinosaur creations are dotted around Southport town centre, five of them being situated outside in Lord Street Gardens and therefore accessible at all times of day. The rest are on display in various high street stores and half of these you have to go scout out. A few are plain to see in shop entrances, like at the British Heart Foundation and Boots. Others like those in Sports Direct and M&S, you have to go searching! They are SO COOL!!! 💜💜💜 So, if you're a Lego fan, you've just got this weekend to go see them before they vamoose! 🤩 Download the map online to see their locations (they are all pretty close together) and this doubles as an activity leaflet with other Dino related things to see while you're in Southport. 🩶 Spring Tide was fierce in Southport this lunch time. Absolutely battered the pier and I too got an absolute soaking. 10m high tides raged over the promenade with the 58mph winds adding even more anger to the weather picture. I don’t usually do black and white. 🌊 High tides 🌊 Over the coming week we’re expecting high spring tides at NT Formby in the middle of the day. 🌊 There'll be very little beach for you to enjoy for an hour or so either side of high tide, with the sea reaching right up to the dunes. 🅿️ The NT Formby car parks are likely to be very busy on sunny days, as the beach car parks at Ainsdale and Southport will closed due to the high tides. 🧐 Don't forget to check tide times before you visit search “Formby tide times” 🐦 High tides also leave little space for migrating shoreline birds to rest and feed. 👀 You're welcome to watch from a far but please don't disturb them. Many are taking a break in the middle of long migratory journeys. 🙏 You can help them rest and conserve their energy by not walking towards or through them and keeping dogs and horses away from flocks. 🐴 The #SeftonCoast Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) states that horses must not be ridden on the beach within two hours either side of high tide. The sand dunes in #crosbybeach are reclaiming the promenade between the marine lake park and leisure centre, turning it into a strange, tourist filled, dog walker friendly, post-apocalyptic 'dunescape.' And some pics of God rays reflecting off the choppy waters of the Marine Lake, while a couple of wind surfers take advantage of the favourable conditions.
