Ladybirds can usually be seen in April, although they may have emerged from hibernation in March if the weather is mild enough. During this time, they will be looking for food and then searching for a place to hide and nest. Ladybirds typically mate in May. They feed on small insects and aphids, so having a garden that supports a complete ecosystem will help attract more ladybirds. Spent an hour before work this morning, looking for Yellow Wagtails on local farmland (as I have done in this area for the past couple of years) And once again, it delivered! Today was especially cool, because I was joined by the person who originally brought this area to my attention as it's also a good place to see Yellowhammers; but I've since discovered that it's a pretty reliable place to see Yellow Wags, and it was great to be able to share this back 🙂 Another surprise along the way was a female Wheatear, which is my first seen in Nottinghamshire and a year tick for 2024 🙂 One negative thing to end on, though..
