I’m currently partway through a train-train-bus replacement-train-train journey home. 3 hour delay from Liverpool Lime Street and all told to make our way to South Parkway instead due to emergency services dealing with an incident at Liverpool Lime Street. In hindsight, I’m not sure whether I should have just gone to the beach for a few hours and got the direct National Express to Birmingham instead as originally planned. Just back from visiting Crosby, one of my favourite beaches not least because it’s home to Antony Gormley’s iconic Iron Men. As it was a receding high tide when I visited this time, most of the statues were wholly or partially immersed in the sea. However, it did mean that the strandline was littered with a variety of shells and sea life that could have come straight from the pages of any guide to things to be found at the coast! Crosby Beach - Another Place Anthony Gormley Statues So yesterday was my fourth time visiting Crosby and Crosby Beach, I was working in Liverpool so it was lass than 20 minutes away on the train and the weather was nice for a change. “You may leave the Lake District, but once you’ve been, it’ll never leave you…” 💚🐑 Jag är nu hemma igen efter en helt underbar resa i Lake District. Jag kommer aldrig glömma mina vackra dagar här. De gröna landskapen, sjöarna, de oändligt många fårhagarna, de gulliga små byarna med gamla stenhus. Rykande skorstenar och sprakande brasor. Det är så jag kommer minnas Lake District. Jag har tagit mig fram genom de olika byarna och städerna med buss och båt och jag har verkligen hunnit med att se och göra otroligt mycket under mina dagar här. Jag har bott på unika boenden, ätit närproducerad mat och promenat och besökt platser i både Beatrix Potters och William Wordsworth fotsteg. Platser som fört mig tillbaka i historien och fått mig att komma närmare naturen och hur jag vill behandla den, mer än någonsin.
