Right after the last @photopills Lofoten workshop this winter I was lucky to be able to spend another six days up north and (re-)visited some (un-)known locations. Even though spring was right around the corner, the weather went straight back to winter on the first day of the trip. I knew this place from before when I was road tripping in the area in summer 2019, but I imagined it would be magical in winter as well. So I had to go back there on the first evening of the winter trip this March. The image was taken shortly after sunset when the sky showed some pink afterglow colours. Since I wasn’t done with scouting the location yet and the pinkish clouds kinda surprised me, I had to run back to where I left my camera bag. Luckily the colours weren’t gone completely, but I had to hurry with the composition and definitely wanted a reflection of the mountain in it. So this is the result, hope you enjoy it! Definitely one of my favorite pictures of the nightsky that I have worked on. It was a long night…spent at least 5-6 hours in the field. All sky photos are tracked at ~75mm and then stacked like the foreground photos. That has resulted in more details than usual. It was a memorable night. ⠀ Frühlingserwachen... .................................................⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Seit einigen Tagen strecken die Leberblümchen ihre zarten Blüten zum Himmel empor. Sie nutzen die Gunst der Stunde bevor die umliegenden Bäume und Sträucher ihre Blätter austreiben. Sobald das passiert, wird es auf dem Waldboden wieder dunkel. Mir gefällt diese Zeit im Wald besonders gut, denn die braunen Farbtöne harmonieren fantastisch mit dem zarten Lila der Leberblümchen. Es ist ein grosses Privileg ein solches Waldstück mit Blick zum Sonnenuntergang keine 10 Minuten vor der Haustüre zu haben. 📸🇨🇭🌺 #lukasmoeschphotography

Finally, here’s the first image from my recent trip to the Lofoten Islands! Together with @marcograssiphotography and @jessica.lancia I was guiding the @photopills February workshop there and we were blessed with some beautiful winter days up north! This shot was taken on the very last day of the tour, right before heading back to the airport. These tiny little ice bubbles immediately caught my attention so I came reeeaaally close and went for a handheld focus stack of six images to capture all the details of my foreground. Easily one of the best light situations I’ve ever had, taken in summer 2019 after driving all the way back from the North Cape to Trondheim. These were insanely good times and a great summer, both for experience and photography. Also, this place is among my favourite locations in entire Norway, it’s a pretty place in summer and in winter. After seven days and six nights our very first @photopills Lofoten expedition ended last friday. And what trip it was! @albertdrosphotography and I guided our group to several locations per day and were blessed with northern lights in two nights. We experienced tough winter conditions and beautiful light in between the snowstorms and foggy hours. Really proud of the group as facing these circumstances wasn’t easy.
