Carpets of bluebells soak up the warm spring sunshine ☀️ Over the last few years I’ve heard so much about the beauty this particular woodland can offer in spring, so I finally decided to make the 2 hour journey to see it for myself. Getting there for sunrise, meant I had to leave the house at 3am so, the alarm was set and bags were packed. When I arrived, I couldn’t believe how big the woodland was. The bluebells stretched out for miles! So I had to find my bearings and pick a composition fast, as the sunrise was nearly upon me. Finally I settled upon this scene, as it showed off the wonderful carpet of bluebells and fresh lime green leaves of spring. Let me know what you think. Woodland photography is definitely my favourite type of photography but it can be extremely difficult to find compositions, especially since I had never scouted out the location before. Spent majority of yesterday morning walking around a new woodland mixed with beautiful carpets of bluebells and birdsong, shame to return to an older one in the afternoon to find that the owners have stopped access which I fully get! (My shot was from the perimeter of the field on the public footpath) Was lush to finally be out of the search for some colour and just unwind in nature with not a soul in sight 🌿 Now I’m no woodland photographer and struggle like mad when it comes to finding compositions… After sifting through the finals selection last night, I managed to edit two shots from two different woodlands, one with some mighty oak trees and the other with luscious beeches, I’m not sure what I prefer to shoot, which is your favourite? Over all the years and seasons that I have walked and photographed Shipley park it always has something different to offer. The bluebell season has always attracted me more than the snowdrop and daffodil times. Since lockdown I have not been in the park with the camera as often as I have prior to lockdown. So today I grabbed the camera and took it for a walk in the park. True to form, the park’s display of bluebells was fantastic, anyone with a camera/phone could be spoiled for choice. There were masses of blue with the occasional white bell standing out in the crowd. I'm not interested in photographing the carpet, I prefer the patience of the search in order to find something different from the rest. After a while I came across an area with potential. It was tricky isolating this shot without leaving the path, not wanting to tread on any bells. I did manage to find an angle in order to generate the image that I had in mind, which is what you see here.
