Finally got my wish and saw an elderly hawthorn shieldbug❣️This creature survived childhood and ravenous small birds last summer and autumn. I could see and hear the birds hunting…It also managed to survive winter too and now after dealing with family “duties” (sadly can’t use the “r” word or my post might get banned again-pity that science is being censored) it is having a relaxing break or possibly this was its wake? It never moved whilst I took so many photos. It was laying on its side hanging on to the leaf. If you look at photo 4 you can see that it is missing its 2 back legs. Black stump visible. <<< SWIPE TO ZOOM. The first shieldbug of the year for me. I couldn't have found a better individual. I found him in a sucky position wedged into a cow parsley flower. I picked him up, and he crawled directly onto my hand. Sat there while I transported him to a flat log. Then he crawled off my hand with a small nudge and sat perfectly posed for 5 minutes while I set everything up and took 2 stacks. One front view and one top view. What a legend! This is the red form but they can be found with pale white or orange markings also! However yesterday morning close by the banks of the Rio Serpis river, found a single adult shieldbug on an isolated plant. Parent bug (Elasmucha grisea). ~ It’s certainly been a bit of a poor start to my macro season, but it looks like things are starting to turn around. Though the weather has continued to be abysmal, I’ve been able to get out and dodge the rain showers and put up with the wind. ~ I know they’re common, but I was still pleased to find this female Parent bug on the fresh birch leaves. The females of this species are pretty special mothers, as they stay with their eggs and young nymphs. Warzywnica (Eurydema) to rodzaj pluskwiaków z podrzędu różnoskrzydłych i rodziny tarczówkowatych. Mają owalne lub jajowate ciało, z kontrastowym, jaskrawym ubarwieniem, często z czarnym wzorem o metalicznym połysku. W Polsce występują od 5 do 12 mm długości. Są fitofagami, ssącymi soki roślin, głównie kapustowatych i selerowatych. W Europie reprezentowane są przez 16 gatunków, z których w Polsce stwierdzono 5, m.in. warzywnicę kapustną i ozdobną. Shield bugs, also known as stink bugs, are a genus of bugs belonging to the suborder Heteroptera and the family Pentatomidae. They have an oval or egg-shaped body with a contrasting, vivid coloration, often with a black metallic-patterned sheen. In Poland, they range from 5 to 12 mm in length. They are phytophagous, sucking plant juices, mainly from cruciferous and Apiaceae plants. Fyrrebredtæge Denne flotte fyr mødte jeg i Grene Sande den anden dag. Det er første gang jeg ser denne tæge - som da også kategoriseres som Relativt sjælden i Danmark. Den måler 11 til 14 mm i længden og er nærmest olivenfarvet. Og så kan man kende den på den lyse plet aller yderst på scutellum. Og så har den flotte lyse siderande. Antennerne er sorte, men inderst ved basen er de olivenfarvede. Hvis man vil finde den, så elsker den sandede egne med fyrretræer. Den lever nemlig af saften på Skovfyr, især fra umodne kogler.
