- The famous "peeking Buddha" at Wat Si Chum - Wat Si Chum is located in the Northern Zone, about 800 metres from Wat Phra Phai Luang. To enter this complex, you have to pay an entrance fee again (THB100 for foreigners). That giant "peeking" Buddha statue is Phra Atchana, a 15-metre high and 11-metre wide stucco Buddha image in the subduing Mara position. There is a legend about this Buddha statue. In the 16th century (late 1500s) when Sukhothai was the battle site between Burma and Ayutthaya, King Naresuan ordered one of his soldiers to give a speech from the top of Phra Atchana. The roof of the mondop was still intact at that time. The acoustics were really good. พระอจนะ หรือ พระพูดได้แห่งวัดศรีชุม เหตุเกิดจากเมื่อครั้งที่พระนเรศวรยกกองทัพไปปราบกฎที่เมืองเชลียง (สวรรคโลก) ได้มีการเรียกชุมนุมเหล่าแม่ทัพนายกองและทหารที่วัดศรีชุมก่อน แต่การทำศึกสงครามในครั้งนี้เหล่าทหารทั้งหลายไม่ค่อยมีกำลังใจในการสู้รบ เพราะเป็นการที่คนไทยต้องฆ่าฟันกันเอง ด้วยปฏิภาณไหวพริบของสมเด็จพระนเรศวรที่ต้องการสร้างขวัญและกำลังใจในการรบให้แก่เหล่าทหารของพระองค์ จึงได้จัดให้มีพิธีเสี่ยงทายกับพระพุทธรูป โดยพระองค์ได้เสี่ยงทายว่า หากการรบครั้งนี้หาจะมีชัยชนะกลับมาก็ขอให้พระพุทธอจนะจงกล่าวตอบ แต่ถ้าหากการรบในครั้งนี้ไม่ชนะก็ไม่ต้องตอบสิ่งใด ซึ่งผลของการเสี่ยงทายก็คือ พระพุทธอจนะก็ได้กล่าวตอบกลับมา ทำให้กองทัพของสมเด็จพระนเรศวรมีขวัญกำลังใจในการทำศึกสงครามเพื่อบ้านเมืองเพิ่มขึ้นเป็นอันมาก แต่ในความเป็นจริงแล้ว เสียงที่หลายคนเข้าใจว่าเป็นเสียงของพระพทุธรูปนั้น เป็นกุศโลบายพระนเรศวร ที่ได้มีรับสั่งให้คนปีนขึ้นไปซ่อนตัวอยู่ในช่องอุโมงค์เล็กๆ ด้านหลังพระเศียรของพระพุทธอจนะและให้ส่งเสียงตอบองค์พระนเรศวร เพื่อเป็นการปลุกขวัญทหารกำลังใจเหล่าทหารให้ฮึกเหิมมากขึ้น นี่จึงเป็นที่มาของตำนานพระพุทธรูปพูดได้นั่นเอง #เที่ยวเก่งจัง #เที่ยวเมืองไทย #เที่ยวเมืองสุโขทัย #พระอจนะ #พระอจนะวัดศรีชุม #วัดศรีชุม #พระพุทธรูปพูดได้ #พระพูดได้ #อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์สุโขทัย #สุโขทัย #มรดกโลก #ยูเนสโก้ #ประเทศไทย #PhraAjana #SpeakingBuddhaImage #SpeakingBuddha #WatSrichum #SrichumTemple #SukhothaiHistoricalpark #Sukhothai #Unesco #Historicalpark #Ancient #Thailand
