Dopo averlo cercato per anni ho trovato su Prime il film del 2007 di Susanne Bier con Mads Mikkelsen che mi mancava: "Dopo il matrimonio". Ecco, se qualcuno avesse ancora dei dubbi sulla grandezza attoriale ed espressiva di Mikkelsen, dovrebbe guardare questo film (e Il sospetto, altro capolavoro). Tutte le emozioni di un essere umano in una certa delicata situazione vengono espresse dal viso di Mikkelsen, che è uno dei grandi punti di forza di questo film. 🫠 Legami, segreti, sentimenti forti, rivelazioni che possono stravolgere una vita. Materiale che in mano ad un Muccino darebbero come risultato film dozzinali e urlati. Qui invece il tutto viene affrontato con una delicatezza e uno scavo psicologico eccezionali. Ok, è cinema nordeuropeo, e loro sono bravi a non scomporsi, ma qui c'è tutto nelle espressioni e nei dettagli. Non a caso le inquadrature sui particolari (le labbra, un gesto, un movimento della mano) sono indicative. È un film di quasi vent'anni fa ma è sempre attuale. Sulla trama dico poco: un uomo che lavora in un'organizzazione umanitaria in India per dare un futuro ai bambini più poveri è costretto a tornare in Danimarca per parlare con un magnate che potrebbe finanziare lautamente l'assicurazione. Va in Danimarca, incontra il magnate che lo invita al matrimonio della figlia, e in quell' occasione cambieranno le vite di tutti... 𝗛ä𝗺𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻 (𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟬) Gillat allt det danska jag har sett av Susanne Bier - ”Älskar dig för evigt”, ”Bröder”, ”En andra chans” och kanske främst ”Efter Bröllopet” men har trots det aldrig haft något intresse för ”Hämnden” vilket beror att jag alltid tyckt omslaget sett lamt ut och att jag har fått för mig att det utspelar sig i trista Afrika-miljöer där Persbrandt gör NÅGOT. Det stämde till 20% då Micke P är läkare i Sudan men det var inte alls så tråkigt som jag trodde. Resterande delar av filmen fokuserar mest på två otroligt välspelade kids som tampas med mobbing och en död förälder. Things We Lost in the Fire (2007) - Dir. Susanne Bier Despite being directed by a talented Dane, who has won rafts of awards throughout her career, including an Emmy and Golden Globe, TWLITF bombed at the box office, making back only 50% of its $16 million budget. It received polarized reviews and has largely been forgotten, which is a shame, as it’s a really really good film. Halle Berry, in a career-high performance, stars as Audrey Burke, an upper middle class mom to two kids and wife to loving husband Brian (David Duchovny). Her world comes crashing down when Brian suddenly dies. On the day of the funeral she remembers she hasn’t told Brian’s best friend since childhood, Jerry Sunborne (Benicio del Toro). Her brother Neal (Omar Benson Miller) delivers the news and takes Jerry to the funeral. Despite Jerry being a recovering heroin addict, Audrey invites him to stay in her house to help with the kids and to aid her with her grief. Del Toro plays Jerry with a sensitivity and fragility that is truly touching. His sobriety is constantly teetering on a knife edge and he is often at risk of relapsing. While Jerry tries to do the right thing, Audrey is suspicious and frustrated, and regularly lashes out at Jerry. Their dependence on each other as anchors amid their sea of grief, becomes increasingly heart-wrenching, as they struggle with Brian’s legacy, what he meant to them and their feelings for each other. How they both fit in a post-Brian world is painful for them, and leads to scenes of personal growth and destruction. One of the criticisms levelled at the movie was that it seemed written to win awards. I’m not sure how this is negative though, as Berry and Del Toro’s performances are powerful and engrossing to watch.
