I am amateur at learning how to be dj, but I am raver for 20 years. And what I realized during this process is, you don’t need to know every second of the track, you don’t have to play popular tracks, but play the ones you personally like. Find your own people, although in music there is only one nation. But what you read, how are you raised will influence your music taste. I’m a Balkan person. My fav writer is R. Kipling and this is one of my favorite poems. I believe in reincarnation and through music you reincarnate every time. You are never the same after good quality party. Teacher of the Year moment: For our novel studies, we reached a major part where the actions of the main character are quite wild, nay, “Ohio”. When I picked up M from school, he told me he was not happy with his behavior in school, so I asked him to share. He did. I listened. We discussed. He listened, understood why it was really silly to react equal to the common triggers and accepted that he will not repeat that again. We had a family meeting and everyone participated in addressing this situation from their pov and we could see M was regretting very clearly his poor choice. I asked him what else should I do to deal with this as it was just a conversation so far. I asked him should I withhold any privileges!?! He was serious and said be strict with me amma. I was happy to hear that. I asked. What does he think will happen in him that’s dependent on whether I am strict and consequential or let go and lenient!?! I asked him what if I made most of my good choices only because I am scared of ppl being strict and punishing towards me?! I shared that if we can use our inner wisdom to guide our actions and take responsibility of the consequences, then our choices will not be based on fear or anger or punishments from others. Why would we give control of us to others? Our choices including our mistakes are part of our experiments with the truth aka Growth opportunities! I trust that he learnt the lesson to make choices for what’s good for him and not because he thinks someone will be strict. At least that’s what I learnt from the parenting lessons from my nature walks. This morning after dropping Thap off at school, I went back home & listened to the song that he was singing as we were getting ready & I CRIED 😭🥹, I CRIED OKAY. Bathong this boy was singing one of my favourite songs and acknowledged that it’s a song about God. When your coach says NO EXCUSES‼️ So my tall girls always complain about not having room to roll in formations. They would mock rolling so much that at one comp they actually mocked it vs rolling for real! This practice I wasn’t having it!! I said I DON’T CARE IF YOU GOTTA ROLL INTO THE BATHROOM!! 🚫 Enough with the talk about “kids being kids” or “boys will be boys”! It’s time for us parents to step up and do better. 😤 Whether it’s daycare, extended family, or home life, our children are sponges, absorbing everything around them – including negative behaviors. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents, let’s stop the cycle. It might seem harmless to tease or pick on our kids, but they don’t always understand when they’ve crossed the line and hurt someone’s feelings when they go to do it to someone else. 🤔 And let’s not forget about those family members who think they’re just being “fun.” Being fun doesn’t mean being unkind. I’ve been meditating on what would help the world feel a little less intense? “humble pie is an acquired taste for many” are the words I heard in a thick Irish accent.” I knew that voice. Those words. The memory came flooding in. I was just starting my career (little did I know) as a teller. 2 months in. I had been a cashier previously at a grocery store. My ego was saying I know this. It’s the same. But here I was. It was 5pm (we closed at 3pm) still trying to find the $800 that I was missing. I had my entire till out on the counter in stacks. My manager sat there quietly doing paperwork in the corner. But I could tell, her patience was running out. I didn’t want to ask for help, but my head was spiralling. She slowly got up from her desk and walked slowly over. I swear she was going to yell at me. She stood tall, short curly hair, glasses, and a stern look that she could see right through my skin. Right into my soul. The first words that broke the silence “ oh bloody hell. Woman. Stop your tears. You look like a 5 year old with her tail caught between your legs.” I felt like a sham & I didn’t want to admit it. “If you think I’m going to fire you after two months, I’m not letting you off that easy. Though you think from a cashier to teller is the same, it’s not. You are a smart cookie but you and your youth needs to learn some humble pie.” She rolled up her sleeves & started to go through all my papers of work. She started to teach me tips & tricks. Back then I was always afraid to ask for help. I will admit I have a stubborn streak, to figure it out. Clearly it wasn’t working. And yet, I was still afraid to ask. I needed to be perfect. I needed to do a good job, not realizing THAT was what hindered me. She called out my bullshit direct every time: “A slice of humble pie. Stop getting in your own bloody way. “ and every time… She was right. We all need help. Life is a never ending learning session. We all need to ask, we all need to listen, we all can help each other. Ah, Friends, the lead up to opening night is no joke. Orchestra rehearsals one on top of the next, and run throughs without much time to recover. If we’re not careful we arrive at opening night out of steam—the worst feeling. I was reminded recently that no one knows our needs, our capacity, and our vocalism better than us.
