Bardzo lubię mówić o sobie, że jestem „self made man” albo „mężczyzną z odzysku” 😅 Może nie brzmi to najpiękniej, ani cudownie poetycko, ale realia takie właśnie dla mnie są. Ja po rozpoczęciu tranzycji odzyskiwałem chłopięce dorastanie, pierwsze golenie zarostu, pierwsze wypowiadanie na głos „miło mi cię poznać mam na imię Gabryś”. Dzisiaj będąc już w tranzycji kupę czasu zdaję sobie sprawę, że chyba nigdy nie przestanę tego odzyskiwać. Tylko, że chyba przeszedłem do etapu kiedy nie mam już wrażenia, patrząc na swój dowód osobisty z deadnamem, że kłamie. Długi czas mówiąc „siema jestem Gabryś” miałem wrażenie, że kłamie. Celebrując swoje codzienne czynności życiowe miałem wrażenie, że wyolbrzymiam. Teraz wiem, że to po prostu jest wdziecznosc, że dobrnąłem do tego miejsca. Otwierając kolejną paczkę z pakerem czuję się jak chłopiec który właśnie dostał samochód na sterowanie. Kupując ubrania na męskim dziale nie czuję już niczyich spojrzeń pogardy - a tak - takie się zdarzały. I każdy inaczej podchodzi do tranzycji. Jedni o tym nie mówią, inni wspominają to codziennie. Jestem bardzo wdzięczny że mam dookoła siebie ludzi, którzy śmieją się razem ze mną z moich transowych żartów i dają mi na to przestrzeń. Transplciowosc mnie nie definiuje. Bo przecież biegam, bawię się w muzyka i mam naprawdę wiele innych też dziwacznych pasji 😅. Ale tak jak wiele osób podkreśla swoją kobiecość czy męskość tak ja podkreślam swoją transplciowosc i to jest ok. Bo mówiąc tylko „jestem mężczyzną” wymazał bym lata innych doświadczeń, a po prostu nie chce. Teraz się czuję najbardziej sobą 🏳️⚧️ #ftm #transman #transition

Unlike most #queer and #trans people, my "prom" back in December 2009 (known in school as a 'before party') is one of my most treasured memories. Yes, I didn't get to go as the #boy I always was. I went as the awkward misplaced "girl", in a black dress and the long frizzy hair I never wanted. But I went with someone I love to this day, who also eventually came out years later. On April 27, 2024, 14 years later, I went to Prom again, on my own with my chosen fam, as the #man I always wanted to be. Results of Top Surgery Officially fully healed now!! - I’m very happy with my results thusfar and the healing wasn’t too difficult. I haven’t doubted this necessary change in the 6 years I’ve been out, and now that it has finally come to fruition I have never been happier or more confident in my body. Top Surgery Update I am going to explain the process here to give anyone else out there who is going through the process a chance to relate, anyone who is anticipating the process a chance to learn, and anyone who is curious about the process a chance to understand. My insurance just started covering top surgery in network last year. I have a $3,200 yearly deductible and the rest of my medical expenses within the same calendar year will be covered. I had my first consult in January at UW Health in Madison, WI. They would not give me an anticipated surgery date without coming in for an appointment. At the consult, I learned that he was booking into 2025, so I made another appointment at Froedtert in Milwaukee, WI. The first available consult was in April. I learned at the consult that this surgeon was booking into December of 2024 and still I had to get my insurance to approve the surgery. Insurance approval took two weeks to come back, and when it did, I was denied. Contrary to what I was told when I had initially spoke with my insurance about requirements, I was denied due to not taking testosterone for more than six months. After many phone calls, I was able to find someone at my insurance company to advocate for me with the hospital and reassure them that I would be approved when I reapply in July. This was enough to convince the hospital to tentatively give me the next available surgery date: December 30, 2024. Since I have had all of my preliminary gender affirming care appointments this year, I am easily meeting my $3,200/year deductible. I am feeling overall grateful and fortunate that I should be able to make it in this year. I have grown increasingly uncomfortable with my chest as I am more often being perceived as a male. Most of the time, I am happy to talk openly about my gender. Other times, due to lack of safety or discomfort, I don’t want to disclose. I am noticing fear that if someone notices my chest or my binder, that I will be outed. I’m continuing to find my way back to self love. One big shift I’m noticing since starting T is in my appetite.
