⏱ 21 April 2024, Goeree-Overflakkee 🇳🇱 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ An orange tulip for the king, happy King’s Day to everyone celebrating today! 🧡 These photos were taken at my go-to area for tulip fields last week, and we picked the orange tulip up from the ground because farmers had already started cutting them down due to the unusually early blooming season this year (FYI: don’t pick the tulips when they are still attached to the stem, that’s not allowed!). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Normally, the end of April is the prime time to see tulips, but most tulips have been cut down by now. If you’re in The Netherlands now or visiting soon and still want to see them, then I recommend going to the Kop van Noord-Holland region where the tulips bloom a little later, or to the Keukenhof Gardens where they also plant late bloomers. "It is worth the 36 hours to arrive in Namibia! I’ve never been to Africa and when I saw Girls' Guide to the World had a new tour to Namibia, I knew this was my chance to travel to the continent where I had dreamed of going my entire life . From semi arid to desert to the Southern Atlantic coast - Namibia has it all. It is still somewhat undiscovered compared to other countries so less crowded and more reasonable. Of course, having been on 2 prior trips (Crete and Egypt) I already knew the accommodations would be top notch, and the tour activities would be amazing, and they were. Three lodges in particular were absolutely stunning . The people were lovely and happy to talk about their home and all it has to offer. I love traveling solo yet being part of a small group of women who are as excited to be there as I am. Our guide Raymond, was wonderful . Those roads can be rough and it was his first all woman tour. He took everything in stride and most importantly got us to where we need to go with excellent commentary. Of course, Doni, the Girls' Guide to the World founder, was on this inaugural trip to ensure everything went smoothly. To be able to see endangered animals in the wild and visit a village that has lived the same way for 200 years was privilege I will never forget."
