My biggest sunflower stalk was snapped and blown to the ground in a storm the other night. When I went outside to check on it today, the sunflowers were still trying to grow and bloom! Ya know, even if you feel defeated and beat down that can’t stop you from finding the sun and growing. Yesterday was pretty crummy for me but today I got a lot done. I walked 2 miles. I closed all my rings which I haven’t done since August 15, 2020. I might feel a little broken but I won’t let that stop me. Take Me To Church: Pt. 1 Another day, another mile. I slowed down today to look at the trees and flowers around me. I used to do that a lot when I first started running but haven’t in a long time. It’s easy to be focused on “what needs to be done” and forget everything else around you. I was drawn to this mimosa bloom, one of this tree’s last but I wouldn’t have noticed it if I hadn’t been walking. I don’t want to lose sight of the small blessings in life, especially the things I prayed for. Sometimes those small things can grow and become a big part of your picture. It feels like a renewed beginning and I’m okay with it. I ran in the full sun (hardly any shade in my neighborhood) and I can’t remember the last time it felt good to do that. I imagined it was a warm, early October day and tried to forget that it’s still summer. I changed up my diet a lot and I’m proud of what I’ve been eating and how I’ve been hydrating. Blurry, but I’ll take it. Tonight was a raw and healing run, the kind I haven’t had in a long time. I love how running can bring out so many emotions. Most often for me it’s happiness, strength, determination but sometimes there is sadness, hurt, and anger in there too.
