It’s Veganuary! I love this month because all of the restaurants and supermarket brands get their sh!t together and start offering more vegan things. It’s almost like I can exist like a normal person 😂 If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know I’m a plant-based Barbie, but I don’t hammer my beliefs on anyone else. I’m just out here trying to find something to eat 🌱 I’m lucky to have been raised vegetarian, and my sister @key_wellness_ is an award-winning nutritionist and personal trainer who I lean on for advice. Also I worked at @edgeofthewoods in New Haven during university and I learned so much about healthy vegetarian and vegan food. It really influenced my cooking and I still make many of those dishes today 🥦 PROs: I get my 5-a-day before most people have their first cup of coffee CONs: Rookies keep trying to feed me substandard falafels. I’m like please, I’ve been to Istanbul SIX times and I live in the most delicious Turkish neighbourhood in London. A massive cheers from the co-captains 🏴☠️… It’s been a funny old year for us two 🫠 Births, deaths, the loss of eye, bonus family’s, bonus cats, and a whole load more that’s meant we’ve sadly been away or out of the business for months at a time and it’s been anything but smooth sailing, physically, emotionally & in a business sense… Having both been back solidly on deck for just over a month now we want to express our enormous and overwhelming gratitude to the current team, all of whom are doing a simply superb job in looking after the place and of course, ALL YOU INCREDIBLE folk that come visit us too! For both personal and financial reasons (let’s not start on food & energy costs) it’s been the hardest, darkest, (and a points brightest) year of our lives. We love this place beyond words, the friendships formed here, the nights we host, the good we do, everything. It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here, and I can think of no better reason to come out of InstaHibernation than to shout about @beatenbyawhisker ! 🌱 Today, a beautiful sunny day in London, sees our third, consecutive weekend visit to this beautiful new venue near St. James Street station in Walthamstow, and I can guarantee that there will be many more mini-excursions to our neighbouring borough in the future! 🌱 Beaten by a Whisker doesn’t shout about being vegan, and we’re convinced that many of their customers have no clue that their baked goods are cruelty free! 🌱 So far, we’ve tried the focaccia, cardamom bun, frangipani tart, sausage role, courgette & pea tart (akin to a quiche), and fried tofu sandwich (like a fishless finger sandwich with salad and tartare sauce). 🌱 EVERYTHING is delicious - very hard to pick a favourite, although the cardamom bun (I’m not even a big fan of cardamom), which is unbelievably light, is definitely going to be a repeat offender! And the focaccia, which is just so full of flavour, is irresistible! 🌱 If you’re in or around London, I cannot recommend this place enough!!! 💥💥💥This is a long overdue review, I visited Plants @deliciouslyella when I was in London last month (hence my winter jacket in photo number 3 ). 🥦🥦🥦It's always a very special place for me, as my entire vegan journey started from @deliciouslyella and her recipes. 🥑🥑🥑Plants restaurant is a reflection on Ella's food from her books and social media - healthy, simple and delicious. ⚡️⚡️⚡️You won't find here fancy, molecular cuisine, dishes prepared with liquid nitrogen or calcium chloride. On the menu, are honest, wholesome ingredients, like kale Caesar salad (photo number 1) with chestnut parmesan and sourdough croutons. 🧀🧀🧀Plants by @deliciouslyella doesn't use processed meats or cheeses, yet all their dishes are packed with flavour - Cacio e Peppe pasta with macadamia parmesan is as rich and sharp as it's dairy equivalent. 🌟🌟🌟Plants by @deliciouslyella can't be found in a Michelin star guide,but I believe it should be on the map for anyone looking for healthy options when eating out . ❤️❤️❤️This restaurant proves that it's possible to 'marry' nutrition and great taste, you don't have to face a choice to go either healthy or enjoyment. A day of eating, playing games and petting animals. I went to electronic jungle near Victoria park. I found this place randomly last year and visited again on Saturday with my friend. Honestly the best atmosphere and the pricing for London are so good and affordable! I got the Brie and caramelised onion toastie with a side of Mac and cheese. Wow the flavours will have your mouth begging for more! My brother was visiting me from the States for 5 days and went to this restaurant twice because he liked the food so much… so that says a lot! 🪩 Everything I ate at @vegannightsldn! Vegan Nights was such a fun event with immaculate vibes and the highest concentration of top tier vegan food I’ve ever seen! I really wish this event was on more often. Here’s what I ate: 🍔 The Hogless Burger from @thehoglessroast was insane! I’ve been wanting to try them for a while now and just couldn’t resist when I saw their stand! It’s juicy, it’s beautiful, and the vegan crackling really elevates it to one of the best vegan burgers around! ⭐️ 🍟 Smoked “Haddock” and chips from @thenocatchco. no Catch are another place I’ve been seeing plastered across my feed but haven’t had the chance to try it yet until yesterday. This might be my new favourite vegan fish and chips and I can’t wait to have it again! It’s super fishy and super tasty! Couldn’t recommend it more! 🌟 🍝 Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese from @feedthevillage.uk. This was a bit of a flop for me. It was tasty and the pasta was cooked perfectly, but the sauce felt a bit watered down so it was a bit bland. The bacon on top definitely salvaged it and gave a bit more oomph!
WHAT A SPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely loved the food @ticcatikkalondon! It is classic Indian food with a modern twist and I was seriously impressed by it all. It definitely is the most creative Indian food I have had and the presentation of it all was impressive and definitely something to talk about. I was invited to try their vegan menu and I thought it was extensive and very well thought out! My stomach was so full by the end of the meal but I did not want the eating experience to end as everything was so tasty! I will definitely be going back here and it will be high on my recommendation list!
PUMPED TO VLOG TODAY!!!!! Very excited to be vlogging @flipside_food. I was in the area on an adobe photoshop course and stumble upon this vegan restaurant and had breakfast and lunch there everyday. Haha so I clearly liked it! This vegan buffalo tenders was so tasty and the chicken tenders really tasted like chicken. BREAK ME OFF A PIECE OF…… That Kit Kat Bar! Wahoooooo I have been wanting to try the vegan @kitkat bar for ages so I was so happy when I did!!! I definitely enjoyed it and it brought back wonderful childhood memories for me as it was a favourite candy bar of mine. I will definitely be breaking into these more often 😊
SUSHI TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so nice to be able to eat exciting vegan sushi that is not just an avocado roll. I love the vegan sushi variety @123vegan_w1. WOW there are numerous rolls to choose from and you can’t go wrong with any of them. @123vegan_w1 they serve Californian vegan food! I love their burgers, quesadillas, caesar salad and of course the sushi!!! Loads of great dishes to choose from 🤩
HAPPINESS IN A BOWL!!!!!!!!!!! WOW this vegan wonton soup brought me so much joy from @veganplanetcamden. Honestly it has been years since I have had wonton soup since becoming vegan and it brought me so much enjoyment. My brother who was in town visiting actually ended up going here twice on his visit to get this soup! That just proves how good it is 🍲

🍛 Finally tried @sagar_restaurant_veg, the vegan and vegetarian South Indian restaurant. They have branches all over London, and I visited their Hammersmith branch, which was very cozy and had a pretty authentic vibe. I obviously needed to try their Dosas, so I went for a Masala Dosa. It was great! The Dosa was beautiful, and the potato and lentil curry inside was really flavourful. Really hits the spot, I’d highly recommend it. Also had a Jaggery Dosa for dessert which was very interesting! I’m not hugely into sweets, so you’d think a dosa filled with chunks of Jaggery would be too much, but the vegan ice cream was just perfect to cut into that sweetness and deliver a very balanced dish and experience. Overall, Sagar has a pretty solid offering of traditional South Indian food that you don’t often find in London. I would highly recommend you give it a try. 🇬🇧 My first dinner out since I came back to London couldn’t have been anywhere other than @unitydiner! Unity Diner is a non-profit restaurant started by @earthlinged, and it’s profit goes directly to help animals in need, including those at @thesurgesanctuary. I got to try their Veganuary special Lobster Mac n’ Cheese, which was absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the best Vegan Mac I’ve ever had. Obviously everything was amazing and the staff is really friendly and helpful, as it always is at Unity Diner. The loaded fries, with @eatplanted pork were insane as well. My friend had the @vfc.food burger, and she said the most wonderful things about it! If you go, another thing I’d definitely recommend is the Tofish and Chips! Overall, Unity Diner is a gem of vegan junky food, and some of the best you’ll find in London. With the profits going towards helping animals in need, you have all the reasons to put this restaurant at the top of your list of places to check out. 🏅 Overall: 9/10 🌱 Fully Vegan!
