Comes in a jacket w/ artwork in the style of a kaiju film poster, and a bonus sticker inside. Contains the complete soundtrack to Super Mario 3D World's bonus spin-off title, Bowser's Fury, including all cutscene music and Fury Bowser battle phases. I had almost forgotten what an absolute gem this soundtrack is. Capturing the same spirit as 3D World, it's fully performed by a professional big band with live instruments, which really makes it all feel alive and pack a strong punch. Lots of sax, violins, trumpets, and guitars throughout. Similarly to the game, it's short but sweet. The handful of area themes are fun, bouncy, catchy, and very fitting for Mario. That Pounce Bounce Isle theme in particular--what an ear worm. What's not fitting for a typical Mario game, though, are the Fury Bowser battle themes. This soundtrack decides to tackle heavy metal, complete with snarling growl vocals. It kind of reminds me of the selection screen music from F-Zero X. It's an awesome change of pace, and these tracks undoubtedly stand out the most among everything else. P.S. After piloting your lone spacecraft, the 'Einhänder', through cites, deserts, misty lakes, underground caverns, and secret factories, you're betrayed by the moon colony and decide to get revenge. All of this action is set to one amazing soundtrack, packed with techno, electronic, and progressive house, and is a hidden gem worth listening to at least once. 🚧 The tape itself is housed in a clear glitter shell with accent marks and logo. My favourite aspect of this cassette is the uv printed shell, which looks amazing while playing. The jcard is based off of the 1997 CD album artwork, following a simple and clean design which attracts the eye. This is another tape I would recommend picking up if you get the chance! The first of two volumes that has 18 selections; this one is comprised only of main and sidequest mission/stage themes. The content here is identical to the digital versions, including the cover art. Being a fan of Machine Girl already, I was absolutely ecstatic when I learned he would be contributing the soundtrack to this game. Turns out, it was a match made in Heaven (pun not intended). Not only was this one of my favorite games of 2022, it's one of my favorite video game soundtracks period. Inspired by breakbeat/drum 'n' bass video game soundtracks from the late '90s/early 2000s, while also adding the signature flavor Machine Girl is known for. This first volume is essentially the cream of the crop, presenting all mission themes in a row. The fast-paced breakcore beats weaved with chill, melodic techno melodies are the perfect combination for Neon White's speedrun-style gameplay, making the overall motion of everything feel so satisfying, especially when your run is successful. The theming of each track also fits super well with the Heaven setting and anime art style, creating a truly unique aesthetic. Tracks like "Virtual Paradise" and "Cloud Nine"...just pure bliss. "X-Men: The Arcade Game" on red vinyl; composed by Seiichi Fukami, Yuji Takenouchi, Junya Nakano, & Ayako Nishigaki; released in 2024. Comes with a custom inner sleeve and sticker. Contains the complete soundtrack to X-Men, plus various bonus materials such as the speaker test and the arrangement version of "Dance with a Crocodile" from the CD set Konami All-Stars 1993. Various sound effects and voice clips from the game are mixed in throughout during the appropriate moments to simulate a playthrough of the game. I've been waiting for this one for years! Not only has this always been one of my favorite arcade beat-em-ups ever, the soundtrack is just completely off-the-wall and bonkers, though totally fitting. That signature Konami sound is certainly there throughout and many tracks are almost like sensory overload. My personal favorite track, Junk Factory, for example, is a barrage of madness. You got constant voice samples yelling "Eh-eh-eh-X-Men!", "C'mon!, "Do it!", and "Get it!", synth keyboards, disc scratches, horns, electric guitar, and fast drumming. It all comes together into a satisfying bop that really pumps you up. This vinyl release version has a lot of fun with the mixing and sequencing. I was really impressed with how good it sounds and my copy was dead quiet as far as noise or pops. My one nitpick is, similarly to The Simpsons arcade soundtrack release, the sound effects and voices are a bit overbearing at times when they interrupt the music. "Dance Like a Crocodile," for example, is another one of my favorite tracks and I felt as though it didn't really get time to shine much, possibly because of the arrangement version later in the album. 『Where's my samurai? 🦋』 ⬆️ “Dance Dance Revolution 2nd Mix" on transparent dark purple type 1 cassette tape; composed by the BEMANI sound team and various artists; released in 2021 by @radishtapes ; artwork by @gazpins . Features the full DDR2 soundtrack plus some extra remixes. ⬇️ While a little before my time, the DDR series is very iconic and probably the series most associated with arcade rhythm games. Since I've got two left feet im not so good at DDR 😔, tho I am much better with my hands so playing rhythm games like Chunithm and Wacca is super fun! The music on this tape ranges from rock to house, techno, and even some eurobeat, basically every song is a banger. ⬅️ ➡️ The jcard artwork is a parody of the cover for The Who's album "Who's Next". Much like the last tape my favourite aspect is the cassette labels. The front shows a classic blank tape label with the title written in sharpie and several in-game sprites and icons placed as stickers around it. The back makes use of the iconic floor control panels. Final Fantasy X 🗡🌊 - Composed by Nobuo Uematsu, Junya Nakano, and Masashi Hamauzu - Released in 2023 on Fuschia w/ Smoke & Translucent Turquoise w/ Smoke vinyl (2xLP). Comes in a double-wide jacket w/ silver foil highlights on the center labels. Featured tracks are: "Zanarkand", "Battle Theme", "Luca", "Thunder Plains", and "Enemy Attack". . . . Man oh man, another absolutely gorgeous FF release! I absolutely love the soundtrack to FFX & I would even go on to say it's one of the best in the series. Although I didn't have a PS2 at the time when it dropped, I did pick it up shortly after getting Kingdom Hearts (in which Tidus & Wakka make an appearance). I was absolutely blown away the first time I ever played it back in the day. It was amazing to see just how far the series had come (in terms of graphics that is) compared to when FFIX released on the PS1. Imo, this is the last great entry in the series as pretty much everything after has been kind of a let down for me (I really do enjoy & miss the turn-based aspect of this & earlier FF entries). The sphere grid leveling system was a really cool mechanic for leveling up your party. My only complaint about the game itself is trying to dodge those acursed lightning strikes in the Thunder Plains for Lulu's ultimate weapon (wasn't until the remaster on the PS3 I was able to do it along with the cursed jump roping mini-game in FFIX. "Pikuniku" on red vinyl; composed by Calum Bowen (A.K.A. bo en); released in 2019 by Ghost Ramp. Limited to 1000 copies. Comes with a download code insert in a jacket w/ painted artwork by Charlotte Mei. Contains 24 selections from the soundtrack's full 45 songs, including two unlisted bonus tracks. This was an album I truly regretted passing up when it released, so I was super thankful when more copies suddenly popped up. What an absolute gem of a soundtrack and game. Everything about Pikuniku, from the charming humor to the simple, yet endearing and colorful art design, it all just radiates with cozy, warm energy and you can't help but smile. Using mostly simple and old school video game sound fonts, this sounds exactly like something that came straight out of the late nineties to early 2000s. If you dig stuff like the original Animal Crossing music, this is sure to be right up your alley. Bowen did such an amazing job capturing the style and overall aesthetic of this game with the music. Between all of the familiar sound fonts you'll hear (like the Super Mario World piano or Super Mario Kart's synths), it's extremely obvious that Bowen loves and embraces classic video game music; this kind of comes across as a love letter of sorts to a type of VGM you just don't hear anymore. Pokémon Snap (1999) Ikuko Mimori More childhood nostalgia. On my somewhat recent Pokémon Pinball post I mentioned my Poké enthusiasm during the first gen was at a fever pitch. Everyone in my school was obsessed. I couldn't stop thinking about the Red/Blue Game Boy games (my first RPG! Eventually I will track down that vinyl.) For my birthday that year, the only thing I wanted were Pokémon cards. So when this came out, it almost didn't even matter what the actual game was. It was Pokémon related and that was enough. Turns out though, the game was actually pretty fun. The gameplay is unusual, you sit in an automatically moving vehicle and take pictures of Pokémon in various environments. There is some opportunity for interaction, but that's just about it. The goal is to snap photos of them all. Professor Oak then scores your pictures based on the quality and framing of your shots. It's entirely possible this game spawned my love of photography. Or maybe my innate love of photography is why I enjoyed the game so much. Hard to tell when you're 10. I also must have had patience for repeating the levels as there isn't actually very much content. Because it takes place on a tropical island, the soundtrack is quite pleasant. This is a really fun one to throw on and I'm glad it exists. Each copy of the soundtrack comes with spot gloss that features a hidden Pokémon. Mine has Kingler. Not sure why the record is yellow, but maybe it's to match the vehicle. For whatever reason, I kind of fell off with the series after the first gen (except for Pokémon Go, which I recently got back into thanks to someone very sweet.) Never really had the Nintendo handhelds, so I never played any future entries or the new Snap game. I never got to own it as a kid, so any time I was at a friend’s that had it, I would be suggesting we play . You race each other and get power-up’s to attack, I believe it was more similar to Diddy Kong Racing in feel than Mario Kart. And while I believe Snowboard Kids 2 fixed many of the issues I had with the original Snowboard Kids, I believe the original title holds up as a fun title. More so, the soundtrack is extremely fun and has needed a proper vinyl treatment for a long while. "Symphonic Suite Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age" on 3xLP vinyl; composed and arranged by Koichi Sugiyama; released in 2019 by SUGI LABEL. Comes in a triple gatefold vinyl w/ a music sheet booklet and an obi. Contains the complete Symphonic Suite album for Dragon Quest XI, which is 34 songs divided into 19 tracks. Another repost because my initial photos were terrible. Dragon Quest XI is easily one of the best JRPGs to be released in the last decade and potentially the strongest entry in the whole series. It took what DQVIII built and expanded upon it, creating the ultimate fusion of a modern presentation and traditional turn-based RPG, featuring a rich cast of characters, an amazing world to explore, and of course, Sugiyama's fantastic score. It's unfortunate that we had to initially deal with MIDI versions of the music here in the US, but this version here, as the name implies, is the full live orchestra performances of all the music. If you love Dragon Quest music, you certainly won't be let down--lots of wonderful new compositions mixed in with a handful of classic ones series veterans will recognize. Hurry and get back here right now before the island blows up with you on it!! 🔵 - bLOWS UP!?!?!! ⚫️ - Hmph! 』 🌠 “Chaos Adventure 2: Battle” remix album on transparent blue type 1 cassette tape; composed by various artists under Virtua94; released on the Virtua94 bandcamp in 2022. So, here we are. I told you I'd be posting two sonic tapes this week, and I did not lie. 🌠 SA2:B was oddly enough, not my first official sonic game! That spot is reserved for SA:DX (which i hope one day gets a tape release 🙏). I only learned about the sequel much later after playing Heroes and ShTH. At that point the game had become scarse and the only way to play it was through emulation. Nowadays, Ive got the steam port with a ton of select mods from the sonic modding community that allow me to experience what I regard as one of the best sonic games (next to SA1 and 06) of all time! 🌠 While the original tape release contained the entire remix album, plus bonus tracks exclusive to the tape version, my personal copy has been redubbed on a swapped 100min type 2 tape reel and a few extra tracks from the original SA2:B OST added in. This tape has such a cool jcard design, parodying the gamecube box-art, and the selection of remixed tracks is peak! My favourite remixed tracks have to be Dive into the Mellow and Rhythm & Balance. It has been on repeat for a few weeks now. 7/7 chaos emeralds.
