The @rhizome_dc benefit show yesterday was amazing!! I had so much fun meeting so many people in the dmv music scene. My highlight was definitely the crossover set with @benjaminmauch_ which was super smooth. I’m finding that my live performance is certainly moving towards the use of sax more than anything, backed by simple field recordings and granular noise clips, as opposed to the synth based performances that have defined this project until this year. Thanks again to everyone who performed and came out and to @risersfest for supporting us. 🍋 Artist Spotlight: Zteca B2B Fløralis Mario Hernández-Carrasco, age 30. My curiosity in the electronic music scene dates back to 2010, only to later find myself attending local shows and festivals in 2017. Having dived into the various genres of all things electronic, I found myself to be captivated by the four on the floor style of beat. Ranging from trance, techno, and house I find them all to serve their purpose on the dance floor in creating an atmosphere similar to what our ancestors have practiced for thousands of years. I find the sounds of organic, Afro and down tempo house a great way to get the audience in that rhythmic mindset and I find myself coming back to those sounds whenever I’m needing to stay grounded. A song I find myself often reminiscing to is Ogou (Pran Ka Mwen) by Lakou Mizik remixed by P.O.S. (1/3 of Above & Beyond). • Brenda Hernandez-Carrasco, FLøRALIS Music has always been rooted in my upbringing, stemming from spanish rock, cumbia to 80s music with my family always dancing and blasting the speakers. It’s not till I attended my first music festival that I found myself with electronic dance music.
