Kewash Day! My favorite race! 😀 @kewashhalfmarathon_ I seriously love this race so much! It’s in small town Washington, Iowa but it’s well organized and well supported with a beautiful route. It was the first race I did after returning to running in 2019 and I’ve loved it every year since then. My youngest daughter ran the 5K for the second year in a row. I’m glad she’s joining the Kewash tradition. 🙌🏻 I ran the half marathon with two of my running buddies— so fun! 🏃♀️➡️🏃♀️➡️🏃♀️➡️ It was unseasonably warm and ended up being our first short sleeved run of the season. ☀️😎 For a variety of reasons my training wasn’t as stellar this year so I didn’t have a time goal or any expectations other than to have a good time… which I did! 🤗 I always feel buzzed for the rest of the weekend after Kewash. 🥳 The whole event has such feel-good vibe and I’m already looking forward to next year. It pained me to see how things in our country and around the world were going with the unwarranted devastation of Gaza and the ongoing protests for a much-needed ceasefire there, so naturally, some of us would need to be reminded of simpler and happier times to help us cope with the drama happening around us and provide happiness for all. One such way that I found was to join a special teamwork effort such as the #gingerbreadrun5k by @gktwvillage I took part in two months ago. There are many friendly faces that pop in and out of @gktwvillage for many Make-A-Wish families, their Wish Children who suffer from life-threatening, volunteers, and guests of all sorts had the pleasure and honor of meeting. From the kindly and bouncy Mayor Clayton and Ms. Merry to Twinkle Hope, the sole ambassador of My Little Pony, from Kailey the Penguin to my personal favorite #givekidstheworld residents, @rugbyandreme, you are never more than a few minutes or feet away from being greeted by and playing with so many wonderful friends for life that make an irreplaceable part of your life. With the #gingerbreadrun the previous Saturday, that's what happened with my fellow runners and I when #reme, #rugby, and their friends cheered us on while we completed the #5k and congratulated us on a job well done after reaching the finish line and rested up in the #afterparty. If there's one thing that I was astonished to find at @gktwvillage and the #gingerbreadrun, it's the amount of support and love shown by the volunteers and the #characters that are scattered across different parts of the resort along the two-loop route making up the full 3.1 miles in the entire village. Can you imagine yourself in a fantasyland of sorts away from the likes of the Disney parks and Universal that's for everyone to enjoy no matter what age or who they are? #characters, characters, characters galore is what was registered into my brain when I did and completed @gktwvillage's complete #gingerbreadrun5k while experiencing the whimsical and bright atmosphere and warm heartwarming essence of the entire village in the early morning. Courtesy of @duffyshelliemae (whom I had no idea was attending the #gingerbreadrun throughout the entire early morning at @gktwvillage), this is one of the photos detailing the loving hug I got from @rugbyandreme when I reunited with them after completing the entire #5k. It was such a wonderful event and the fun I had with them and their friends was the best I ever had. They and the volunteers along with the other faces and donors that dotted the course through the entire village were wonderful and very accommodating as well as extremely supportive to my fellow runners and I. They felt their mission to help Wish Children suffering from critical medical conditions and their Make-A-Wish families deeply and there was a lot of care, attention, and heart put into the #5krun and what I've witnessed. While it is a race, it's all done for the sake of fun, everyone is contributing to a heartwarming cause, and #everyoneisawinner in one way or another. The #GingerbreadRun of @gktwvillage has been a phenomenal experience and it was a true first for me as it's marked as my first-ever #5krun as well as the first time I ever went to #givekidstheworld and met the crackerjack and diligent team of volunteers and cast of lovable characters including #mayorclayton, #missmerry/ #msmerry, and my personal favorites: @rugbyandreme. Of course, the village is a breathtaking place to see and after getting to experience the entire village through this #5k as well as meet some of the Wish Families attending the place as part of their vacations provided by the village's team and volunteers while my fellow runners and I were greeted and encouraged by them to complete the run while seeing all of the villas and buildings that make up the entire place spanning 89 acres of land, I'm now in love with the place. If you missed your chance to participate in the run this morning, you have another chance since the Gingerbread Run returns in November nine months from now. @seaworldorlando's #justforkidsweekend was something of a spectacle for me to witness while spending a day in the park given that this is the time when Sesame Street Land is celebrating its 5th birthday/anniversary since it opened in May 2019 (yeah, they've gotten a headstart on that but, really, there's no harm in that since it's a big deal for many Sesame Street fans, young and old). BUT, if I can be brutally honest, #coral, #puck, #sydney, and Shivers were the reason why I decided to go to the park earlier (especially when I found out they appeared together during the day before yesterday for Just For Kids Weekend). Wanting to meet the #seaworldcharacters i.e. #shamuandcrew/ #shamuandhiscrew has been on my bucket list for years since I first got into depth about them while growing up in the late 2010s since they're really, in my mind, the true flagship #mascots of the #seaworldparks. They were all such a joy when I finally met them (especially Coral), and every chance I got, I would see them time and time again throughout the day until they had to turn in for the evening (makes sense given they probably traveled a long way while returning to Orlando). They're my main highlight from yesterday, and to the SeaWorld Orlando team, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for bringing them home. It's always going to be a bummer with the #holidays over for now (AGAIN) but there were some things from last year's #holidayseason like #glisten from @buildabear's #glistenandthemerrymission that made my day each Saturday I was able to meet her at a #buildabearworkshop (first at @thefloridamall and later at Icon Park). And, after finally getting to see her movie, despite whatever snags it may have, I can say that she rightly deserved the 2023 holiday season as her year with how much she inspired faith and hope during the most wonderful time of the year, how much she makes people such as myself smile whenever we get to meet her, and showing how much of a charming dear and wonderful mystery she is.
