Our last night at Give Kids the World. This place is seriously so amazing and they really spoil the Make A Wish Kids. Tonight happened to be Winter Wonderland. We got to ride a horse drawn carriage, Kaden got some cotton candy, Haylee got to see Santa from a distance and got a Moana toy from him. Haylee got to ride the turtle on the carousel. Last night of all you can eat ice cream! They even will pick us up and drive us to our room! One thing that really clicked with me today. This adorable village is proof of how easy it is to make EVERYTHING accessible. If somewhere or something is not accessible to wheelchairs, it’s a choice. There are 1,800 volunteers that come through here a week and 200 employees. Every one is incredibly kind and go out of their way to help us. Wish Trip 💫Day 1 - travel: 4:45am pick up! Make a wish partners with Southwest Airlines & let me tell you they were so great. Found us when we got to the gates had gifts for the kids, walked us on the plane first & even carried our bags 😅 With all the medical equipment and trauma from past flights lugging everything by myself with one adult this was a dream! We arrived to the village around 1:30pm and went to lunch. The dining hall is great with small chairs (everything centers around the wish kid!) and the volunteers are wonderful offering to carry my tray when I push Levi 🥰 Our villa is in Banyan Park which is the newest apartment like style building. We saw the playground & pool for a bit and called it a night after some ice cream 🍦A 17 hour day meant we all were so tired and off to sleep 😴 Cannot wait to share more about GKTW village and how great it all is…. Dreaming of castles, princesses and mouse ears. @makeawishmetrony and @gktwvillage made Alessia’s trip to Disney World in December a reality. There really is something about Disney that makes life just seem so magical but adding the touches these two agencies did, made a magical experience and truly unforgettable one for all of us. Since this trip, Alessia has had 2 admissions, both of them pretty serious ones. This last admission was the hardest by far. For a moment, we really thought we were losing our little girl. Having these pictures, videos and memories to look back to, really brightened some of the darkest days we have ever experienced. Some things, give unending joy… this is one of them. Of course, we are only waiting for her doctor’s clearance in order to go back to both Disney and the @gktwvillage. Just FYI, I did that whole 1 week trip 3 weeks before having Vida! Day 6, part 2: In the afternoon we headed out to our last park, Epcot. The weather changed quickly and we finally got to break out our rain gear! We visited Nemo and friends and the kids loved Crush Talks. We enjoyed our stroll through beautiful, rainy Epcot with some yummy snacks and drinks. It's quite a different experience from the other parks. Berkley got to say hi to Minnie Mouse one last time. She also enjoyed the wildlife she saw. I got to pose with my girl, Luisa!! We missed meeting any princesses but did get to ride on Frozen which was so fun! Then we just barely made it back to the village in time for Mayor Clayton's surprise birthday party! 🎂 I have to say that meeting him and watching Berkley go in for that big double hug with Mayor Clayton and Miss Merri was one of the big highlights of the trip for me. I know there are a lot of people that made this trip possible but for me it really felt as if Mayor Clayton really was the magic maker behind it all. Day 6, part 1: This was one of my favorite mornings. I stayed at the village with Berkley and Sam while Sawyer and Chris went to Hollywood Studios to build a light saber and a Droid. Give Kids the World village is one of the most amazing places I've ever visited. We would have had a great time even if we had never stepped foot out of the village. They have thought of everything to make the weeklong stay for families with critically ill children a welcome safe haven amidst the storms they face. You'll be hearing more about it from me in the future. It amazes me how many people volunteer their time to help families staying there. Everyone we passed by gave us a smile and a 'welcome home'. Many people were there from out of state with the sole purpose of volunteering at GKTW. On this morning, we loved strolling through the butterfly garden and watching the koi. Amberville within the village had fun rides and games. We had one last stop at Henry's Starlite Scoops for Ice-cream and one last spin on the most whimsical toadstool carousel 🎠 that brought us so much joy throughout our stay. Day 3: Easter Sunday. Our long travel day, lack of sleep, and the 3 hour time change caught up with us. We didn't wake up in time for church or for Easter festivities at Give Kids the World. We originally hadn't planned to go to Seaworld at all, but we thought it might be a good use of our short day. Seaworld was, unfortunately, one of our least favorite experiences. It was really hot and very busy. There were no perks for Wish families, so we spent a lot of time waiting in lines. Everything was spread far out and not easily accessible. We did get to see some dolphins, alligators, and manatees. Day 2: Ice-cream for breakfast at Henry's Starlite Scoops at Give Kids the World, then off to Magic Kingdom. This was truly a magical day at the happiest place on earth. Warm, beautiful weather but not too hot for Berkley. We did break out the cooling vest and misting fans. We rode the fairy both ways. Kids loved The Jungle Cruise. I was totally not expecting to get a walk-in appointment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but they had space for both girls! Our first pixie dust. 🌟 Berkley fell asleep in the middle of the process and didn't get the hair and makeup done, so they refunded the cost. Sawyer enjoyed the special treatment and getting all fancy. Day 1: travel and arrival at Give Kids the World. Make-A-Wish put us up in an airport hotel because we had to be up at 2 am for our 5 am flight. Our wish volunteer, Gretchen, met us at the airport and helped us get on the first plane. In Seattle we were greeted getting off the plane and treated like royalty. They carried all of our luggage into cars and drove us to the Delta Sky Lounge for breakfast. 5 star. Totally recommend. Going to join that club. We were so in awe and we barely had time to enjoy it before they whisked us off to our second long flight to Orlando. Each airport gave Berkley a little airplane backpack loaded with snacks and toys. (We sadly lost the blue one somewhere along the way). We arrived at Give Kids the World in time for dinner and a pirates and princesses party before orientation and settling into our apartment villa. A message from Hope’s mom: “Hope is a former 23 weeker who was born at 1 pound. Hope has pulmonary hypertension, cerebral palsy, and hypertension, which have required her to have over a dozen surgeries and procedures. She is a true fighter! Hope requires a feeding tube and often oxygen but none of that slow her down. She has a positive attitude and outlook on life even while spending so much time in the hospital and at doctors appointments. We started the day by going to see Tenley’s star that was put up in the castle at Give Kids The World. A little background…Give Kids the World is the resort we are staying at and it is specifically built for and around Wish families of all types and sizes. It’s been around since 1989 and has helped make wishes come true for terminally ill children and/or children and families who deal with the diagnosis of a life-threatening or shortening disease. This resort is incredible and is a place of refuge for these kids and their families. We have been just so blessed by the kindness shown to us and our kids from the moment we stepped foot on property. They make everything so fun, easy and special for every child in the family. It’s amazing! So, they have what they call The Castle of Miracles and when you walk in immediately you see little gold stars all over the walls and ceiling. Every inch of the walls are covered with these stars. These stars represent Wish kids. Every wish kid, like our Tenley, that has come to stay at Give Kids the World resort gets a star to put their name on and it gets displayed in the castle of miracles. 😭♥️😭 They currently have displayed the names of 190,000 beautiful kids who have stayed here since 1995 in that castle. 190,000…not a typo. I mean…it was intense and tear-filled. Beautiful. Amazing. Sobering. Jesus. They make it so special and have a star signing ceremony one day and then they have you come back another day to see where the fairies have decided is the perfect spot for your star. ♥️ It was just incredible. Our Tenley Nicole. The most beautiful little miracle. ♥️♥️♥️ We are just so thankful and tears have come several times this week as Jesus has used the kindness and love of other humans to show us just how much he loves us. This day held SO MUCH! It’s 1:24am and we just got into bed after closing the park. 😆😆😆 I may not recover! Tomorrow is rest day. Much needed!!! ♥️😂 We just had the most ridiculous day. Hollywood Studios which included Star Wars everything and it was INCREDIBLE! Nothing like it! Totally insane and amazing! Best rides…I mean…BEST RIDES! Ten got to ride Rise of the Resistance. It was hilarious and totally crazy and she loved every second. So, Star Wars and Frozen and Toy Story and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! We LOVED it all! These are just a TINY SNIPPET of pics. 💜Mission to Spread Smiles💜 Hi! It’s Abigail, Daisy’s Momma. I wanted to share about the absolutely amazing morning I had on Tuesday! I got the wonderful opportunity to go to Give Kids the World and volunteer with @elliegoldenlife, her sister Emma, and parents Kevin and Katie. Give Kids The World Village is an 89-acre, nonprofit “storybook” resort in Central Florida. Here, children with critical illnesses and their families are treated to weeklong, cost-free vacations. While we were there we played carnival games with kids and their families as they headed to breakfast. We also got a tour of their amazing property and got to visit the star tower. Each star in that room has the name of a child that has visited. There is THOUSANDS of stars, it leaves you speechless. All the amazing wishes granted.
