And quick note, this prompt was based on the only geek culture thing I had not at least heard of in this challenge. I am completely clueless about Portal. Okay so moving on.⠀ ⠀ 💫⠀ ⠀ The Cake is a lie. As a player in Portal, you are guided through a scientific research facility by a computer named GlaDOS and asked to perform various tasks. GlaDOS continuously promises you cake at the end of the experiment, but as you progress it becomes increasingly suspicious that the research lab has no intent on letting you leave at all.⠀ ⠀ 🖥️⠀ ⠀ Card 1: What ways do you need to stop wasting your time and energy (for there is no 'cake' at the end of this path)? ⠀ Card 2: What will put you on a path to ward your highest good (better chance of cake)?⠀ When I pulled Bright Spark, as what I'm wasting time and energy on, I was perplexed. Not so much when, I pulled the Star Faerie as the path to my highest good. Just looking at them next to each other. Its like why waste time being this small when you can be this big. If I tie this to my adventure card from day 10, it works nicely. A journey through faery to gain wisdom would benefit from these gifts. And I can find them with the Captive Man apparently. Adventure Time stars fiery Finn, the human, a happy and confident boy with strong morals, and laid back Jake the Dog who counsels Finn when he needs it. For my adventure I drew the Gift. It implies wisdom gathered from traveling or from your adventures. So I guess the journey to getting that wisdom is the adventure. Because of course nothing from faery is ever straight forward this makes perfect sense. My companion or source of wisdom card is the Lady of Unicorns. Myth and magic are definitely appropriate companions and resources when traveling on an adventure. I've been working on a couple of new things. Recipe/BoS pages that I will eventually digitize. And new mixes. Here's a glimpse at an Attraction Bath Soak recipe. I based the layout off of the one I've seen in the Moleskine recipe journal. And I like this, however the directions are very basic and wouldn't change really from bath to bath if I left them like this. I also somehow forgot to include ingredient purposes. We have now reached the culmination of the #Wands for the #2019minorarcana study. Here we have the 5 Kings and 1 Prince. All powerfully arrayed, they all emote creative force. The #RWS, #Llewellyntarot and #Universalgoddesstarot Kings sit comfortably on their thrones holding wands and surrounded by either symbols of or literal fire, the element of the wands. Strong, sure and magnetic. 🔥 The #deviantmoontarot King takes the last one step farther by being out among the people. Children, the future, have flocked to him as he lights the way. There's a cyclical pattern of inspiration here. Where he leads, they follow; sparks of light which in turn empower him. ♣️ The #Linestridertarot and #thothtarot cards have the leonine symbolism in common. Indeed Leo fits all the cards. Strength, energy, power, initiative, and vision are all great leadership qualities. There can, of course, be some negative as well. Continuing with the #2019minorarcana tarot study, we are now looking at the Knight of Wands. As a court card all of the cards I have here are similar at first glance. And even when you delve deeper into the symbolic meaning that all cards in each deck have, you see the similarities. These guys are going places; literally and figuratively. They've all been captured in movement. They are action-oriented, passionate and enthusiastic. Doing this next card study for the #2019minorarcana, as I have to figure out the differences and similarities in the #Thothtarot for the other two. The Queen of Wands is one of my favorites, which I've said before in my IGtv video for this year's 31 Days of Tarot. Visually, she has a very powerful aesthetic. Starting with the #Riderwaitesmithtarot in the middle, as usual the #Llewellyntarot most closely matches it. But even the Thoth card shows a similar look. The Queen's are all sitting or standing in authoritative ways. Sure of themselves with a wand in one hand. 🔥 Despite the strong, independent woman vibe of these cards, they all have an earthy quality. The colors of the #deviantmoontarot, #linestridertarot and #universalgoddesstarot cards. The sunflowers in the #RWS, Llewellyn and Linestrider cards. The cats big and small. Wands are of the fire element for sure. However, the above mentioned symbols make each Queen seem down to earth, close with nature including the darker sides and the animalistic sides of it. This all makes the Queen approachable. Like she knows human nature as well, the every man. I’ve decided over the couple of years of being into witchcraft that I’ve switched over what kind of witch I am to be. Looking at all the 10 of Wands from my various decks for the #2019minorarcana study. Starting with the #RWS card in the top middle we see a person carrying 10 wands larger than themselves, inefficiently I might add, in their arms towards home or a town. They can't even see where they are going. 🃏 The visual theme is basically the same throughout all the other cards but one. In the #llewellyntarot card the person has 9 wands tied to their back and uses 1 as a walking stick. The #deviantmoontarot card shows the same as the RWS but from another angle. This guy can see ahead of him at least somewhat. The #linestridertarot card shows a child slumped on the ground under the burden of her 10 wands. While the #Universalgoddesstarot card has pictured a figure trapped under 10 logs, injured and almost defeated. ♣️ The #thothtarot is of course different and is called oppression. Saturn and Sagittarius energies going in opposite directions and 8 balanced and barbed wands blocked by 2 larger ones. Continuing with the #2019minorarcana study we have the 9 of Wands cards. Starting with the #RWS we see a guy standing in front of 8 growing wands while he leans, injured, on the 9th. He seems wary since he is looking back with a concerned face. The #llewellyntarot card has a similar layout though the guys has more injuries but seems more trusting or maybe just more confident. Maybe because he is actually on a field instead of separate from them. 🔥 The #deviantmoontarot is moodier (as usual with this deck tbh). IT shows a figure sitting despairingly on some steps with 8 wands on 8 steps going up and out. And a 9th wand lit beside them to show them the way out. The fox man in the #linestridertarot card is standing similarly to the Llewellyn, injured but sure. ♣️ Then the #thothtarot card is back to recognizable (thoth) themes and named strength. Actually, its physical set up is similar to several of the others. An almost protective stance by 1 larger wand in front of 8 others, in this case arrows. Strong and sure though not perfect. Enduring. Lastly, there is the #UniversalGoddesstarot shows a goddess silently checking on her growing wands in the winter. Supposedly she is helping them endure the winter. Next for @3am.tarot's #2019minorarcana study is the 7 of Wands. Pictured are those cards from each of my tarot decks. Now that we are back with and odd number they are not so happy. The #Riderwaitesmithtarot card shows a man standing large over land seemingly trying to defend it. The #llewellyntarot card is more focused on trying to keep balance against the odds. Maybe not knowing what step or direction to take next. ♣️ The #devianmoontarot card shows a girl lost, afraid but on a path lit by the wands. There there is the #linestridertarot card. 3 animals at different hierarchies but the one precariously on top is not the one you would expect. And the goat is ever vigilant. The #Universalgoddesstarot here is also defending her home similarly to the Rider Waite Smith card. And Valour is the name of the #thothtarot card. The club in the middle is disrupting the previous harmony. Fighting or standing for something with no guarantees of success is what it represents. Here are my 6 of Wands tarot cards for the #2019minorarcana study. These cards give the same feelinf of celebration, veneration and, as the #thothtarot card outright states, victory. The #Riderwaitesmithtarot and #llewellyntarot show a victory oarade. The followers feting a triumphant leader. The #deviantmoontarot shows followers celebrating a newly majestic leader emerging from a chrysalis. ♣ The #linestridertarot card shiws a more modern form of hiniring wjth a statue. With the #universalgoddesstarot card we go back to an ancient goddess worship type of ritual. Similar to the Llewellyn card, the honored one is armored though more so. So certain traits good for battle are more in focus here. 🔥 And lastly, the #thothtarot card, which seems mire metaphorical or general. Still success, especially after the 5. Now we have the 5 of Wands from my various tarot decks for the #2019minorarcana study. Starting with the #riderwaitesmithtarot card in the top middle, the #llewellyntarot card looks almost identical as usual. Just looking at these two I often think of either an argument or general disorganization. Nothing major. 🔥 But then looking at the #deviantmoontarot and the #linestridertarot cards things are more obviously violent. The first almost gleefully so and the latter showing animalistic rage. The Goddess Pele represents this card in the #universalgoddesstarot deck which makes sense. A natural explosive power. But then we come back around to the #thothtarot which takes a more civilized approach. Simply showing a clash or discord. Now we have the 4 of Wands cards to look at for @3am.tarot's #2019minorarcana study. Now there is more overall similarities from each card. Happiness, stability or balance. The next phase in life. Celebration, marriage or handfasting, partnerships and security. Its interesting that some cards show this using the wands in a square while others a circle. 🔥 In each card the 4 of Wands hold up or hold together. But its always decorative. Not to say frivolous but it indicates to me time and energy for more than just survival. Also a rest from work to celebrate what's already been done. Last month, I started doing the #plantallyproject by @wortsandcunning. One of my depth year objectives was to continue creating my herbal grimoire/materia medica by doing a more in depth study of the herbs and other plant materials I work with. Common Sage was the first. 🌿 What I love about the plant ally project is its combination of herbal, scientific and magical prompts. So you can connect with each plant in many ways. Its been fun, if difficult. This bundle of sage was a bit old when I took the picture. But I bought it fresh for the sensual part of the project which asks you to smell, taste and touch your ally. Its a good contrast to the dried sage I already owned. Watching ships leaving on trips out into the world. Looking ahead and from above is stronger here than in the the 2 of Wands. So a progression is seen. 🔥 The #deviantmoontarot takes a different approach by feeding and empowering 3 plant stalks. The 2 of Wands starts making things a bit more work when comparing. Each of the decks I have seem to focus on something different. Once again the #llewellyntarot is the most similar to the (not pictured) RWS bit even those are different from each other. The original seems more travel focused and decisive. While Llewellyn's has a more balanced and almost fortune telling feel. Another book I read during the Yule #witchathon. The Bear and the Nightingale by @arden_katherine. It was very atmospheric and pagan. I could feel the deep winter in my bones while reading this. ❄ I found it had a lot of elements that I often find in folk tales. Also, the Russian spirits vs the Orthodox Church plot line was a good background. I love that the book doesn't try to make you as the reader choose a side. You are just very aware of the pros and cons of each. And Vasillia's village does an okay job of balancing both before the new priest comes. ⛄ Vasillia's growing up as a girl of power is very much the focus of the book but its shown a lot through her family and the country's politics as well as the above mentioned spiritual practices. It was an enjoyable read.
