Lastnight we read about Deborah who was used mightily by God. She was a judge and a prophetess who led all of Israel. In this time a judge or shaphat was not someone who sat in the courts as we know today, but was a heroic even military leader. The book of Judges can be looked at as a dark even kinda gory book at first glance, but if you pay attention you’ll see it’s a book of love, mercy and hope. The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and done what is right in THEIR eyes. They could’ve been mistaken for a Canaanites as they forgot who their God was and what He had done for them. And no one was there to remind them either. So in attempts to save them from themselves and our eternity Papa had to raise up judges to protect them and the future arrival of our Messiah. See He loved us so much He refused to leave us where we were and sent help. After20 years of bondage the Israelites cried out for help and Deborah was said help. She in her position as a judge respected Barak, even in his moment of his shaken faith she became what he needed and confirmed the word God had spoken to him and reminded him of God’s faithfulness. Because of her encouragement Barak went down the mountain and gained victory! We like Deborah need to be encouragers and remind each other of Papa’s faithfulness and goodness. As humans we fail and fight for things that are right in our eyes or feel right to us instead of standing for what’s right and Who’s right. The only time that women in my program DON’T reach their goals is when they QUIT ON THEMSELVES!! Which I don’t let them do. No babe. Last week in my ohana group we began our Women Like Me studies. Starting with Abigail and it was so good. She was kind, beautiful, full of wisdom, courageous and loved God. She saved the lives of her husband and every male who belonged to him! In my walk I would struggle with being a woman believing that there’s no place for me. That women still belong in the back of the church silenced. That Papa used men mightily but not women. Yes, I know that there was a few cool women that Papa highlighted and used for the kingdom but still they wasn’t me. Can you relate? Beloved, I’m here to tell you that struggle I had is sure fading as I encounter each woman and see how much we are alike and how Papa is speaking through them straight to me!!
