Good vibes brings good luck…. Currently I’m running my third group here in Bandhavgarh and we are having a blast, from the minute we meet in the morning till the time we drag our weary bodies off to bed, it is fun and giggles, and of course plenty of tigers in between to keep us occupied. This morning was no exception, with some expert tracking from @1neerajt and @praveenbandhavgarh we were able to steal a few minutes alone with Chota Bheem as he walked down a dry river bed in this beautifil morning light. Vietnam's Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc today issued a new directive with urgent and powerful measures to restrict #wildlifetrade and consumption, and reduce further pandemic risk. With immediate effect, the directive (29/CT-TTg) bans imports of live wild #animals and wildlife products, strictly eliminates any wildlife markets, and prohibits any hunting, transporting, slaughtering, selling, buying, storing, consuming, or advertising of wildlife, including online sales. "Vietnam's government shows strong leadership with this comprehensive action and focus on stopping imports, closing all wildlife markets and prohibiting any consumption, buying, and advertising. These actions will help save many species while also protecting global health. We will work with our partners to help make this a success," said John Baker, Chief Program Officer at WildAid. "This provides a great example to other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on how to address the threat of the wildlife trade to economic security and public health." In the next few weeks, CHANGE, WildAid, the Pangolin Crisis Fund, and other partner organizations will continue to carry out a series of activities that will promote the Prime Minister's instructions, raise awareness, and ultimately change wildlife consumption behavior, especially around wildlife sold in markets and restaurants. Activities will include: producina videos and media messages. mobilizinabusiness leaders, organizing wildlife journalism awards, training journalists in wildlife trade and consumption hot spots, and campaigning to remove wild meat from restaurant menus. Some of the corals are bright colours which although very pretty, is actually a sign of stress, so we will continue to monitor and collect data. However, we are really happy to see how much the corals have grown and also the amount of fish using the restoration area as a new habitat. The lush green jungle of Bandhavgarh comprises mostly of evergreen Sal forests, mixed forests and grasslands, with more than 500 species of plants being identified. Thresher sharks are highly migratory pelagic predators, with a circumglobal distribution in tropical and temperate oceanic and coastal seas. Their main threats? Fishery-related mortality as target or bycatch species, taken for their fins which are valuable in international markets. Threshers are are at the highest risk of extinction among all pelagic sharks and are described as vulnerable by the IUCN. Fortunately in 2017 all three species of thresher sharks were listed in @CITES Appendix II and are now regulated through strict trade controls. As such, any trade in these species requires a science-backed finding that the levels of trade will not jeopardize their survival in the wild, and confirmation that they have been legally taken. CITES also regulates “introduction from the sea”, and as such, the same requirements also apply for thresher sharks when taken in areas outside of national jurisdiction, often called the “high seas.” If governments worldwide properly implement and enforce the new CITES measures, they can play a central role in reducing the mortality of these shark species, which have suffered drastic declines due to unsustainable trade. Only then will these imperiled animals have a chance for survival and recovery. We must never let up in our quest to END the WAR on SHARKS! #worthmorealive @threshershark.id

Tigers can be incredibly difficult to photograph due to their elusive native and preferred habitat of dense forest but when you get moments like this with a bold individual, soft light, a relatively clean background, and eye to eye contact from a low level angle, it is simply magic. I received COUNTLESS inquiries for this September course and spoke in length to many of you on the phone here in the UK and around the globe. I didn't hide a thing I told it as it is, this is a bushcamp experience not a 5* Safari holiday. I guess that may have put some people off, and that's absolutely OK this isn't for everyone. However it's very much as chance of a lifetime, let alone the learning experience and exposure. After a few days filled with tiger sightings my group joked last night at dinner that we would not stop for another tiger, but would focus on birding instead today (which is amazing here by the way).
