This key date 1952 20 Centavos coin features a stunning design by Manuel Luna Negrete and is not only one of my favorite 20th century mexican coin designs, but across the board, it tends to consistently be a collector-favorite among mexican numismatic lovers. On the reverse we find the same two volcanoes featured on the mexican Libertad; Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl, which create an beautiful backdrop to the impressive Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan. I was lucky enough to visit the pyramids nearly 20 years ago, back when you could still climb them! On the obverse we find the first of three different coat of arms issued on this series. This one is often referred to as the "small eagle" design which was issued from 1943 to 1955. On October 19, 1951, on the same day when he did his last commercial recording session of the month, an episode of the new Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis Show aired on NBC - Bing was the guest star (slides 19-20). This marked Bing's first collaboration with Dean Martin, who would become a very good friend in the future. After some comic dialogue, the two duetted on "Sam's Song", with an excited Dean having some trouble with the fast patter. Bing wqs his idol since he'd been a teenager. Dean said in 1977: "Through his recordings and his movies I became a singer. I copied his style of singing. I tried to copy his acting. In fact, about everything he did I tried to do." On October 22, Bing started shooting "Just for You". Although he had suggested, among others, Rosemary Clooney for the role of his leading lady, he was reunited with Jane Wyman because of the popularity of their pairing with audiences who had seen "Here Comes the Groom". It was shot in color and featured Robert Arthur and 13-year-old Natalie Wood as his children. As an adult, Natalie recalled: "I was very nervous acting with him and he was sort of retiring. He didn’t say very much and I was so nervous. He kept to himself between scenes. I don’t remember him singing at all, which would have been nice. But he was real kind to me, relaxed, did everything pretty much on one take. I wish I would have gotten to know him, but I was so scared and he was such a big, big star that I didn’t have much to say." On another occasion, Natalie said that she was "surprised" that "he really was a very, very, bright man. He knew everybody’s lines and knew everything about the camera." The great Ethel Barrymore also played a supporting role. Bing had worked with her on radio and knew her siblings casually, and was thrilled to get to know her better. Bing was absolutely enthralled by her personality and how seriously she took sports. Between takes, Bing and Ethel would listen to various sports matches on the radio. He marveled how she performed the best in each first take. Part of the movie was filmed on location at Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake. Harry Warren and Leo Robin wrote the songs.

I think they lived in or near New Delhi, if memory serves. I have never been to India, but I remember the wonderful stories and fond memories my Grandmother shared with me when I was little. Vallein Tercinier - L’Attente 52 and Vallein Tercinier - Rencontre 62 by Jack Tar & Lux Coin My last tasting video (full video on YouTube, URL in profile or copy/paste: https://youtu.be/vHwacZYjeK0) was dedicated to the sensatoinal "L'Attente 52" Cognac from Vallein Tercinier bottled by @jack_tar_spirits. The Cognacs were distilled in 1952 / 1962 and bottled in 2022. Both editions are limited to 100 bottles! The very special thing: Each of the 100 (200) bottles contains a small amount of a Gautier Cognac from 1762 which is one of the oldest known Cognacs in history with a Guinness World Records book entry. Along with the bottle comes a certified letter from the founder of Jack Tar and Lux Coin. Vallein Tercinier's home is in the Domaine des Forges. From there, they have been pursuing their passion for exclusive Cognac since the 18th century. I already have several of these bottles in my collection, but decided to increase my stock. Now I own a "significant" part of the limited 100 (200) bottles. The rest should come with time. This is a picture from 1952 of two best friends in Chicago who got caught by the police at night. They used to sneak out at night to ride the L train. The boys were James Davis, age 5, who was black, and Ronald Sullivan, age 8, who was white. At the train station, James fell asleep on a chair while Ronald watched over him. They seemed like brothers who cared for each other, even though they lived in a bad environment full of hateness and racism. Part One: Pan Am’s Boeing 377 N1039V Flight 202 had completed the first leg of its El Presidente tour before taking off in the early morning hours of April 29, 1952. The Stratocruiser was a luxurious double-decker aircraft that served cocktails in the spacious lounge. Having already flown to Rio de Janeiro from Buenos Aires, Argentina, the airliner was on its way to New York with its next stop in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Captain Albert Grossarth transmitted an "all is well" communication some 900 miles from Rio. "Clipper Good Hope" went down in an unexplored, unmapped, unreachable, part of the Brazilian Amazon jungle. The story continues when another Pan American World Airways pilot spots the aircraft, two days later, May 1, 1952. Part Two and Part Three plus epilogue posts will continue the story...
