M O V E M E N T| Movement give me life. It energizes me to them be more productive throughout the day. If i don’t start my day off with a nice sweat it’s difficult for me to be as impactful as I’d like in other aspects of my life. Thankful for 6.6 miles today which is my longest run in about 6 months. Started with a 30 minute run and then like Forrest Gump I just kept kept running. Lol Warmup 3 Rounds ▪️10 Lunges ▪️10 DB Thrusters ▪️10 Dips Set my watch for 30 minutes and ran as far as i could. It often leads to a less than stellar workout which causes me to dread wasting my time going to the gym while on the road. I didn’t make it to the gym today but i found a way. Needed that extra half hour of 😴. But it felt great to get some foam roller work in (Self Myofacial Release/ SMR). Also tried a 5 minute kettlebell flow I “borrowed” from @steph.rose.phase6 . A lot to clean up with that but loved it. Finished up with a 1 1/2 mile run. I lose motivation which trickles over into my exercise and diet honestly. Lack of sunlight coupled with feeling low energy probably directly correlates to that Seasonal Affective Disorder(SAD) I hear about every year around this time. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) 14 percent of people in the United experience this. I’m definitely one of them. Although I have been working out i haven’t been feeling as “locked in” as i normally am. And to be honest there are some mornings I’ve opted to sleep in and when i have gone my efforts have been lackluster at best. I’ve decided not to let this year get the best of me. I’m hoping if you know this holds true for you - you become proactive and get ahead of it. I do this because I’m trying to improve the quality of life of the version of me 10 years a way. We know ailments come with age. Some genetic and some for lack of taking care of your body. It’s a blessing to move and have control of your limbs. Many people would swap places with you just to be able to move the way we do. Walking up steps or carrying groceries are taken for granted but you’d yearn to do those things if somehow you weren’t able to. But understanding why someone who has a 9-5, and takes care of family would want to challenge themselves to physically do things that they may not have even done in their 20s. You’re now running 10 milers and half marathons because you adapted a mindset. You’ve fell in love with what your body can actually do. Yes you lost inches and lbs in the process but look at you go. Form Follows Function = @3ftraining ... It’s an architectural term that has stuck with me for years. It says the shape of a building or object (in this case your body) should primarily relate to its intended function. The intended “form” we aim for as a result of living a Fit lifestyle is to live well and be healthy. To be able to live and function properly even if the task is carrying groceries, playing with your kids, or walking a flight of steps. That’s life and that’s why functional training is important. Core strength and stability is important. Quality of life is paramount. Form Follows Function so however you “function” on the daily the form is sure to come out of it. So if you function like a couch potato the results will be lengthened muscles or atrophy and combined with poor nutrition the form will be that of a couch potato. But if you live an active lifestyle and are consistent 30-45 minutes of moderate exercise with a balanced diet the form will surely come out of the work you put into your body. It’s a mind state. R/p: @3ftraining “When we starving we eat whatever’s there.” ____________________________________________ I roughly weigh between 185-193 lbs. this workout is done as a circuit (one after another) and is a descending ⬇️ ladder starting at 10 reps all the way down to 1. I set the barbells all at 185 and started working. This is a taxing and full body workout that i found in Men’s Health years ago and i like to go back to it to see where I’m at.
