**UPDATE: ADOPTED!** Adopt Tommy! Poor Tommy has been waiting for his forever home for quite a while, and honestly, we aren't sure why. Tommy's foster mom says he is a Very Sweet Boy. He loves being petted and even loves belly rubs. He will reward you for being his friend with lots of purrs and head butts. Tommy likes to play and sit in laps, but he isn't overly needy. We think Tommy would likely do great in a variety of homes - he's cat-friendly (although we suspect he would do best with a more mellow kitty friend), and he would probably be fine with kiddos, as long as they're respectful of him, of course! Tommy is FIV+, but that's really not a big deal! He just needs regular vet visits (like any cat should get), and may need to go a little more often if anything seems to be troubling him. But FIV+ kitties can live long and happy lives, even coexisting safely in homes with FIV- kitties. The main source of transmission of FIV from one cat to another is through a deep bite wound during a fight with another cat. FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs. PS - Tommy says “I am still looking for a home!” Tommy used to get a little overstimulated when he first came here, but recently he’s been doing much, much better. I initially had him listed as should go to an adult-only home, but now I think he’d probably be fine with older, respectful children as well! Tommy is so, so affectionate and really just wants to be loved on! He will park himself in my lap and just purr, purr, purr! Tommy is FIV+ but could still live in a home with FIV- kitties as long as they all got along well (no serious fighting/deep bite wounds). He seems to like other cats so far in foster. Aside from that, an adopter would just need to stay on top of regular vet visits, just like with any pet. Poor Tommy hasn’t had ANY interest yet, but he’s SO friendly, and SO personable, and such a sweet guy! He looks a little rough around the edges, and he has had a pretty tough life outdoors so far. He does have some lingering issues because of this that his new adopter will have to be aware of (most notably, his FIV+ status), but he truly deserves the best life! Right off the bat he was seriously one of the nicest cats in my house (I know that isn’t saying much, but I’m including my own cats in that, lol!) ADOPTED*** Tommy (Tommy Turtle Creek) ~4-5 years old Neutered & microchipped UTD on vaccines Dewormed/flea treated FIV+/FeLV- Tommy was rescued from a place where he lived outside with many other cats. Although there was a very nice person caring for Tommy and his friends, they lived next to a neighbor who unfortunately had been known to harm the kitties. Despite living outside his whole life, Tommy is a SUPER sweet guy! He’s very talkative and loves to purr and head butt you. He’s still a little uncomfortable with some aspects of handling, such as being picked up, and he can get just a bit overstimulated at times. At these times, he might reach out toward you with his claws out, or he will put his mouth on you. He hasn’t ever actually bitten down though. Tommy seems to like other cats (he approaches the other crates with a welcoming trill), but I think small kids could be a bit overstimulating for him. Tommy appears to be healthy, but is FIV+. His ideal home would be with someone who is a bit cat-savvy and can recognize possible signs of overstimulation, but who is also prepared to stay on top of regular vet visits even a bit more than normal due to his FIV+ status. Aside from that, Tommy will make a great pet! He’s an affectionate companion with an exuberant personality, and he definitely has a lot of love to give. Tommy is neutered, UTD on vaccines, dewormed/flea treated, microchipped, and FIV+/FeLV-.
