Athletes will go through a series of tests to see where their speed, strength, and athleticsm stands as they head into any summer beach/court seasons. We will then help create a training approach, if interested, that we feel would benefit them greatly in improving their on the court metrics for the season(s). The 5 Biomotor abilities, or physical capacities every athlete needs are ✅ Mobility - the ability to move body parts through large ranges of motion ✅ Strength - the ability to generate force ✅ Speed - the ability to move an object or body fast ✅ Endurance - the ability to sustain a workload ✅ Skill/coordination - the ability to accomplish a task efficiently The type of sport an athlete competes in will dictate the level of requirement of each and how you address them in training. But you MUST always address them. Some VERY important considerations: ♦️ Each one of these physical capacities means something different to each individual athlete. When we say to address endurance, we don’t mean that a 100m sprinter needs to also be able to run a marathon. Likewise when we say to address strength, we don’t mean a distance runner needs to bench press 400lbs. ♦️ When we say to address all 5 physical capacities in training, we don’t mean creating a pairing conflict and sacrificing session objectives. For example, if the session theme is speed/power, the other biomotor abilities can be addressed to a MUCH lesser degree (or indirectly) during other components in the session, such as the warm-up, or cool down. ♦️Power, though arguably the most important quality during competition is not one of the 5 biomotor abilities but a combination of strength and speed. My man @austinbelaire3 making great progress in the past 8 Weeks! Austin is an entrepreneur and business owner (@abfilms3 )who is on the road a TON. Normally working 60+ hours plus traveling all over the Southern US for work. That makes progressing difficult at times, BUT he’s been able to focus in on what’s in his control. The biggest negative we usually have is SLEEP: ➡️ As much as he travels, his schedule can be all over the place, so this is one area we know we may fall short on. So we prioritize the things we CAN CONTROL: ➡️ Meals - even if he’s on the road, he makes smart choices. ➡️ Training - He’s training 3-4x week, trains hard with intense workouts and makes the most of his time in the gym. ➡️ Activity/Cardio - Even when busy he prioritizes getting some sort of cardio in; whether that’s walking or HIIT style cardio, at least 4-5x week You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to go to extreme measures or take a ton of supplements. Al you have to do is take control of what you can control, and give it your best effort. Comparison I like to surround myself with people who inspire me either by their actions, teachings, or perspectives. I look to them as role models for the life I want to live. These people are doing what I want to be doing so I model myself after them. I see my coaches working EVERYDAY, I see my mentors reflecting and teaching consistently, I see my colleagues accomplishing great things. And then there is me. I push. I grind. I look to improve. I need to catch up. I need to catch up. I need to catch up. When life forces me to stop, I’m left with my thoughts. The loudest is, you need to keep pushing, you are already behind. My journey has not been linear. I didn’t know what I wanted until I was 40. Now, 2 years in, I am comparing myself with other people who have had more time working toward what they want.
