An unrealistic ideal of physical beauty combined with the latest fashion standards continues - despite movements to the contrary in recent years - to be often portrayed in popular media and advertising which creates pressure on individuals to conform to a certain body type or fashion standards. The series addresses these absurd ideals of beauty by showing creatures made of flowers - a classical symbol of beauty - that pose like models in front of the camera. The obviously not naturally grown „superflowers“ represent an unattainable beauty that has been artificially created. All of the „flower models“ have been assembled by hand from different cut flowers and potted plants and were photographed in the studio using flashlight. Some of the plants and flowers were sewn or pinned together using pins, which were later retouched.
