๐๐ชถ PERUVIAN SWEAT LODGE ๐ชถ๐ Today we went to take part in a sweat lodge, run by a beautiful spiritual brother @tituamarusalqa . Held at Kari Grande archeological site in Cusco. They run them every month on 21st of each month (I know where iโll be next month on my birthday!!) And they sync up with their brothers who run one at the same time in Costa Rica. This was an amazing experience of cleansing, presence and connection that was profoundly different, as we chanted with each round of hot stones brought in, drummed and rattled and were cleansed with herbs and local plants. It was intensely challenging as the stones were piled higher and the space got hotter each time. My urge was to get out as the steam in there burned my skin and could barely breathe the hot air in, but found a super deep safety in being sat on the earth listening to the songs and rattles as I found my breath, slowing it down and feeling the full presence of myself. I felt like a balloon when we emerged and feel im still integrating this experience. Happy to announce that this year am back with my Content Series "MeTalks" which started off as online conversations with women & moms in the pandemic and focused on pressing issues such as mental health, emotional wellness, getting back to work, taking a sabbatical, postpartum depression, lifestyle conditions and how to manage them, dealing with stress and anxiety, starting your own business, women founders, women leaders, working mom challenges, and everything and anything that matters to women. We took the conversations offline in 2021 and did quite a few independent and collaborative activations across Mumbai and around over the years. But what does gratitude in the mundane look like? It can look like having the authority over your dirty dishes, this means bellies were fully. It can look like picking up toys from all over your living room floor, this means your children had opportunities of play. It can look like recharging your phone, this means you had the chance to connect with loved ones. Sister Saima reminded us while we may get lost in the tasks that leave us feeling tired and our bodies aching, there is goodness is the consistent act of doing. My number one question for educators is, โAre you doing community circles in your class?โ. A quick search of the term โbenefits of community circlesโ will have you convinced you should be! Establishing relationships is the most vital component of a student feeling safe, welcome and as though they belong at school. Community circles are not only an easy way for educators to get to know students, but for students to get to know each other. Providing time and space for student voice will pay dividends in the classroom community. Topics can (and should!) be fun and lighthearted, and take less than 10 minutes. But circles can also be helpful, productive, or a source of information sharing. Then, when things are challenging, a class with established community circle norms can use circles to problem solve and also restoratively. When I do events and speaking gigs, this is the first question I always ask - and if I'm feeling spicy I'll only let you use one word ๐ Why do I do this? Firstly, I find Mums are so quick to say Motherhood is going great, it's amazing, best thing in the world... and if that's your experience - amazing - however, is that your HONEST experience? When I ask Mums to dig a little deeper, that's when the vulnerability comes out. The tears usually start welling up and that's when I see the protective armour crack open a little bit and witness their true Motherhood experience. When you have that safe space to to be vulnerable and completely raw and honest, that's where the magic happens. I am committed to holding space for you and providing that safe space for you to be held and supported as you drop that armour - so tell me (either here or in the DM's) what your parenting experience has been like in three words or less. I am curious to see if you can let down your guard and be vulnerable for a moment.
