šŸŒ± Embracing Growth šŸŒ± In the journey of life, mistakes are not stumbling blocks but stepping stones to growth. Just as a seed must break through its shell to reach the sunlight, we, too, must navigate through challenges to flourish. As parents and therapists, we play pivotal roles in nurturing this growth, not only for our children but also for ourselves. By reframing mistakes as opportunities for learning and development, we create a culture of resilience and progress. Let's hold space for these opportunities, allowing the magic of growth to unfold, enriching our lives and the lives of those we support. Together, let's embrace the journey of learning and celebrate the beauty of growth. #connectedparenting #consciousparenting #raisegood #lethemplay #neurodiversity #nuturingchildren #selfregulation #ot #occupationaltherapy #autism #asd #adhd #aspergers #t21 #downsyndrome #cp #cerebralpalsy #learningdifficulties #bornstostandout #thrivenotsurvive #socialthinking #socialinclusion #letkidsbekids #playislearning #playisimportant #movetolearn #learningthroughmovement

If youā€™re experiencing any one of these, you most likely have a MESSAGING problem. The problem isnā€™t that you need to create better hooks, juicer captions or catchier reelsā€¦ NOPE. Decoding Emotions: A better way to understand why you feel what you feel Give yourself permission to feel. Before we can shift anything, we first have to understand what itā€™s asking of us. What it needs from us. This information is a critical piece of the puzzle. It starts with giving yourself permission to feel, then making space for the possibility of you feeling something different. Thatā€™s how we start creating a shift. This permission can only come from within. This is the catalyst to creating a clearer relationship with yourself and the world around you. This is how you reclaim your agency and take accountability for how you decide to face your challenges. One of the reasons it can be difficult to fully commit to shifting your emotional patterns is because the emotions themselves are repeatedly telling you a story about you and your life. This lens which you see yourself, your relationships and the world around you. It becomes very familiar. And that familiarity provides a safety in its predictability. Even if itā€™s not serving you. This familiarity creates a sense of ownership and that can prove difficult to release. It creates the fabric that you believe is your identity. Even if you know better, the emotional hold of that belief system has a gravitational pull. The only way to untangle it and create space for a new more empowering narrative and identity is through listening to it. Donā€™t run or hide. Give yourself the chance to feel something different. It's the end of the day, and you're ruminating on mom-guilt. We've all been there. No matter how many times you asked your children to do something nicely, you end up being short with them after so many times. The house is a mess, you didn't get anything done on your to-do list, and you barely ate. You feel overwhelmed to the highest degree, and that one last trigger finally pushes you into full on overstimulation. I was NOT prepared for how hard it can be to self-regulate when everything feels like it is falling apart. My children 100% feed off of my energy. So, if I'm starting to get grumpy, my children are usually less regulated. I assume that I struggle to regulate because I was never really taught the proper skills to do so. If you're like me and try your best to be a calm, regulated parent but fall short at times, I see you. A lot of today's parents are working on parenting themselves as well. Take it one day at a time and remember - you are building skills for yourself and your children that will last a lifetime. Self-regulation takes practical skill application to build a foundation that holds strong in the hard moments. 1. Slow deep breathes help our bodies go from the ā€œflight or fightā€ state which is the sympathetic nervous system. To the ā€œrest and digestā€ or the ā€œrest and receiveā€ state which is our parasympathetic nervous system. 2. Smiling sends a signal to our nervous system that we are ā€œsafeā€ and when our bodies feel safe we begin to relax and soften. This help to come back to the ā€œrest and receiveā€ state. 3. Humming not only boosts your cardiovascular system. when we have better blood flow within our body, you have lowered blood pressure and because of this it allows for the nervous to regulate. The vibration from humming signals the vagus nerve to relax the body. I have always done slow deep breathing but learning about the simple things of smiling and humming, especially when the house is very loud with kids running around and playing in the house. Itā€™s helps me so much to become highly strung out. #breath #breathwork #smile #hum #nervoussystem #selfregulation

šŸ§ āœØ "Knowing is half the battle" doesn't quite capture the whole picture when it comes to changing behaviors. Here's why knowledge isn't enough: 1. The Comfort Zone Conundrum: Knowing what to do and actually doing it are worlds apart. Our brains prefer the familiar, even if it's not what's best for us. Breaking that cycle means stepping out of our comfort zones, and our brains would rather binge-watch Netflix (or binge-read more Sarah J Mass books). 2. The Strategy Gap: Itā€™s one thing to know you need to step back from constant hustle; itā€™s another to master the strategic planning and boundary setting that actually make it feasible. Knowing you should work smarter, not harder, doesn't help much without the tools to effectively implement it. 3. Habit Autopilot: Ever driven home and realized you donā€™t remember the drive? That's your habit autopilot. We don't think; we just do. Breaking these automatic cycles requires more than information; it requires practical application and repetition. šŸ”§ What truly leads to behavior change? My coaching approach bridges the gap between knowing and doing. We focus on one manageable change at a time, creating new neural pathways that make new behaviors feel not just possible but natural. My techniques ensures that changes are not only adopted short-term but become sustainable within your ever evolving life and business. Ready to turn knowledge into action? 'You teach your child to express their emotions by skillfully expressing yours.' Permission to Feel Marc Brackett Emotion-processing habits are passed down to our children, intentionally or otherwise. With some self-awareness and intention we can assure that we are modeling positive emotional regulation skills. How do you cope with lost keys, a computer glitch, changed plans or any number of annoyances? What coping skills are you modeling for your children? Being aware of and working on your own emotional regulation is a gift for your child-and for you! A dysregulated person cannot help another person regulate. Acting like you never feel angry, disappointed, frustrated etc. is not the answer. Children need to see that you have a range of feelings and strategies for regulating. What is your process for regulation? Saying the process out loud can be an effective way to model emotional regulation for your child. ā€œI am feeling frustrated, I am going to take some breaths and calm down before I talk to you about this.ā€ In those moments where you react from a dysregulated state and yell or respond in a way that doesnā€™t feel good, you can model repair. ā€œI am sorry I yelled. I am trying to calm down before I respond but I didnā€™t this time. I shouldnā€™t have yelled and I am going to keep working on that. I love you.ā€ The apology can be a powerful lesson. www.rmcouse.ca #wellbeing #mindset #selfregulation #parentmentalhealth #resilience #family #parenting #confidentparent #RMCOUSE #coregulation #earlychildhood #parentingblog #childandparentresilience #parentingbloggers #evidencebasedparenting #resiliencebuilding #childdevelopmentblogger #emotionalwellbeing #childandparentresilienceblog #emotionalregulation #familywellbeing #socialemotionallearning #earlychildhooddevelopment #SEL #permissiontofeel #nervoussystemreguation #nurturingresilience #coregulationparenting

The quintessential question of self-compassion is ā€œWhat do I need right now?ā€ Sometimes we need to nurture and comfort ourselves, while other times we need to take action. Imagine tender self-compassion as a nurturing parent comforting their child, and fierce self-compassion as a protective momma bear who is guarding her cub. When these two facets of self-compassion are balanced and integrated, they contribute to a sense of wholeness and wellbeing. . . . #teacherwellbeing #socialemotionallearning #mindfulselfcompassionforteachers #selfregulation #coregulation #mindfulselfcompassion

Every day our brains are either wiring in new pathways or reinforcing old ones. They are constantly adapting to our environment, our thoughts, and our actions. Our brains are plastic throughout all life stages. One key thing that that determines how we exercise that plasticity is our attitude, alongside a belief that we can change! When our brain, and by extension our nervous system, gets stuck in a chronic stress response it begins to bring up stressful thoughts and rehearse those same thoughts over and over - creating stress biochemistry which impacts us physically and then our brains (rightfully) worry about that and create more stress biochemistry which further impacts us physically and so on it goes. We go from healthy and living our lives to someone diagnosed with multiple chronic illnesses and wonder how we got there. Well, our brain rewired itself through that cycle of stress. And you can rewire it back. You can use your brain as a tool to work towards wellness by leveraging the brainā€™s natural plasticity to break the cycle of the stress response. With brain retraining the first step seems both simple and outlandish at the same time - you need to consciously change your thoughts. This takes consistent practice, and at Primal Trust our Level 1 program, Regulate, will guide you through the process. #nervoussystemregulation #nervoussystemhealing #traumarelease #stressrelease #chronicstress #somatichealing #somatics #somatic #traumahealing #traumarecovery #emotionaltrauma #anxietytips #stressmanagement #bodyhealing #selfregulation #selfregulationskills #brainfog #chronicillnessawareness #chronicpain #chronicfatigue #traumahealingjourney #invisibleillness #storedtrauma

Fear!.. Anger!.. Hurt!.. Hatred!.. All of it!ā€¦ All swirling around their hearts and minds to the point it consumes them entirely. Breaking their grip on reality itself and sending them spiralling into a vengeful mania! But while the trigger may well have been external, the complete loss of control that followed, and which continues to shake the foundations of their inner peace, is mostly the result of a complete lack of self awareness! This lack of emotional self awareness (and the lack of any want to become emotionally self aware) sees people blaming everyone else for why they suffer this internal chaos. All their unhealthy reactions conveniently tied up in a neat little bow and placed at the feet of someone else, saying: ā€œItā€™s your fault I feel the way I do, so itā€™s your responsibility to deal with it!ā€ But truth is that when we lose ourselves down our own emotional rabbit hole, itā€™s up to us to find our way back. Sure others can help us in their own way, but itā€™s ultimately our duty in the end to make the effort for ourselves. What other people did (or are doing) is their responsibility. If their actions were taken specifically to upset or enrage us, then yes they can be held to account. But how we respond to any external action remains completely within our own purview. We might be justified in our anger, but it doesnā€™t mean we can take unjustified action against someone just because that anger is justified. No more than weā€™re allowed to punch someone in the face simply because weā€™re mad at them! For if we allow our internal emotional experience to be governed entirely by people outside of us, then we are condemning ourselves to a deeply troubled life. Especially when we consider that our very perception of the world itself is so largely influenced by our emotions, then we are essentially handing our ability to perceive reality over to them too! #thoughtsofsteel

Many people feel that their thoughts are beyond their control, but here are things we can do to direct our thoughts and emotions. Learn to cultivate mental flexibility. You can do this by not being too rigid in your habits and being open to new experiences. A negative mentality makes it difficult to bloom. Instead of wishing for ideal circumstances, look for things you can appreciate right now. Turn taking is an example of Self Regulation. When children share, listen to others, or wait their turn, they are practicing self-control. Self-regulation is a foundational skill of early childhood development. It is that planted seed that allows children to grow into adults who can manage their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. #EarlyON #ChildDevelopment #SelfRegulation #TurnTaking #Pedagogy #HowDoesLearningHappen #LearningThroughPlay #MyDbnc

I'm not saying that you shouldn't be pursuing your purpose and providing for you family. BUT it shouldn't stop there... I know countless women that would trade it all the house, the cars, the vacations, the fancy dinners etc for a deep connection with their husband. If this is you, all that you're missing is a skill they never taught you in school... That's self control & nervous system regulation. It's the one thing keeping you from being able to access your woman's heart and finally allow you all to truly enjoy the life that you've worked so hard to build. Guess what? It's never too late to learn it. I liked this as a way to explain what therapy looks like for those that might be feeling hesitant. A large amount of time is spent between the two bottom parts of the pyramid. Building safety includes understanding the fear centres of the brain, how the autonomic nervous system works and building trust along with learning how to relax the muscles and body and to regulate the self. *Mental Health Awareness Month* Honestly, thankful for Gen Z today. Iā€™m feeling like that generation has truly helped in opening up more conversations about mental illness, being in therapy, being medicated, and mostly not being ashamed of any of it. Life is BEAUTIFUL and it can also be HARD. And you shouldnā€™t have to hide your truth or your struggles for any reason. We truly need each otherā€” itā€™s science yā€™all. Yes, we need to self-regulate, and yet we also need healthy connection and relationships too, we need healthy practices to calm the waves of emotion when triggered, we need rest and time to live, we need more grace and self-love, always. We need to stop shaming each other for being human. LOVE is always the answer. Friends, if you or someone who know has been diagnosed with PTSD and/or CPTSD, me tooā€” please reach out! Iā€™m launching a new healing offering that fuses somatic exercises, NS regulating tools and Reiki energy healing to assist in moving through life FULLY with more compassion, ease and grounding. It's no secret that the things we take in have a huge impact on how our body feels. Eating processed foods that are loaded with sugar, preservatives, and pumped with hormones has a direct correlation to our chemical and hormonal systems. Our gut is home to the vagus nerve and when it is engulfed in inflammation and bloating, it becomes harder for the body to regulate the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. What does this mean for you? Anxiety, depression, mood swings, difficulty controlling negative emotions, and a harder time coming back to the present moment from disassociation. Fuel your body with simple, healthy foods from the earth that have little to no preservatives or processed sugars and hormones like hormone free protein sources, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains that are not GMO. And be sure to get plenty of the most vital ingredient, the liquid of life: water. Spring water, filtered water and sourses that are known to be cleaner than tap. Food for tonight. The joy of joy :) In general, it seems that we pay less attention to our positive emotions. Maybe itā€™s because the more difficult ones (like sadness, fear, or anger) are uncomfortable, disturbing, and then we often stop and try to understand whatā€™s going on. But joy? How often do we consciously experience joy and seize this feeling? Even though itā€™s such a pleasant, energising emotion. The function of joy is to reward us and to inform that something is good and important. It also serves as a vital signal for the body: when we feel joy, a lot of good processes happen in our organisms that prevent diseases. Itā€™s also an essential self-regulation skillā€”to be able to engage in activities that improve our mood. Understanding what brings us joy and consciously creating more of it in our lives is really important. For myself, I know that being in nature always makes me a little bit happier. A good idea is to create a list of things that bring us joy so that we can reach for them in difficult moments. Do you know what activity always brings you joy? . . . #functionsofemotions #psychoeducation #joyofjoy #psychotherapy #selfregulation #emotions

Are you Vata Pitta or Kapha ? What is your ayurvedic inner Body-Mind constitution and inner inteligencešŸ’« ? As you are mix of all three ayurvedic "doshas", the post is for you. If you are Vata, you tend become easely anxious. Without the regular relax and breaks, you create the explosive cocktail for your Body-Mind health and youĀ  become even more worried, not focused, exhausted. If you are Pitta, you will apply every self care ā¤ļø advice with a lot of difficulties. You are born to spend a lot of energie (and the money šŸ™‚), you burn easily your (and others) limits (and your Body-Mind). If you are Kapha, your challenge will be different as you love to go slowly abd to relax often. Sometimes so often that you can't move ahead anymore. Who knows if we are taking the right steps in the right direction? What is the right direction anyway? 1. A slide with some of my affirmations for today (New moon day) and this week. 2. How I deal with messy days/ not knowing. 3. Life has so many nuances (here represented by colors) and experiences, all valid. And all experiences make us become who we are, itā€™s all part of the process. Be aware of the subtle nuances. 4. Movement and stillness: these are my ā€œto goā€ practices to find clarity, that help me observe with equanimity and, with discernment, to make a choice. The choices we make should always honor our values. Not our parents, not our friends, not our family, not our boss, but our values. This is what keeps us on track. Values are our North Star. Some days (like my last few weeks) when everything seems to be moving too fast, new things happen, surprises happen, and taking a few moments to reflect, to come back to our center and back to our values can be extremely effective in helping us not only to regulate our nervous system but also to move forward with confidence and hope. ***5 Reasons why you should care about your Heart-Brain Connection*** #2 - The stress hormones that can make you overweight, sick or diabetic The intricate interplay between our heart and brain plays a pivotal role in regulating our body's hormonal balance, a factor that is often overlooked when it comes to managing weight and overall health. This heart-brain connection, this complexly and directly influences the secretion and regulation of hormones responsible for controlling appetite, metabolism, and stress responses. When this communication is disrupted, it can lead to an imbalance in key hormones such as cortisol and insulin, potentially triggering an increase in fat storage, elevating the risk of obesity, and exacerbating the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes. Understanding and nurturing this connection is therefore not just a matter of emotional well-being but is intimately tied to our physical health, affecting our body's capability to maintain a healthy weight and fend off chronic diseases. For anyone at risk, or who is pre-diabetic or diabeticā€¦ and critically anyone carrying excess belly fat, this is a must-know! "How many sessions will I need?" AKA: "When will I see results?" It is only natural to want to know how long it will take until you see results when working with a coach.Ā  A first and crucially important step is to find out what results you want to achieve. What does "result" actually mean to you? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to have more energy? Do you want to stop binge or emotional eating? Do you want to put an end to your obsessive food and eating worries? Do you want to be healthier and feel better in your skin?Ā  Depending on your answer, we can work on getting there.Ā  Most of my clients already notice a difference after the first session. I deeply listen to your story, and from there already start to connect the dots. You will begin to see how your behaviour is not weird, but a clever response from your nervous system and body. This first session is often healing in itself, since most people I see have never told their food, eating and body image story to anyone else. The relief that comes when they feel that nothing is actually wrong with them is tangible. šŸ’— How many sessions exactly are needed cannot be said beforehand. But I have seen noticeable changes after the first two or three with all my clients. šŸ’„ If you want to find out more, contact me for a first free discovery call!Ā  Kathrin #eatingpsychology #holisticeating #overeating #bingeeating #emotionaleating #comforteating #stresseating #chronicdieting #dietculture #mindbodyeatingcoach #holisticcoaching #healthcoach #somaticeating #foodfreedom #foodpeace #nervoussystemregulation #selfregulation #nervoussystemhealing #somaticnutritioncoaching #selfacceptance #selflove #metabolism #innerwork #bodywisdom #awareness

Posted @withregram ā€¢ @responsive_parenting What looks like disrespectful behaviour, may actually be your childā€™s way of trying to show you how they feel. We keep trying to ā€œfixā€ our childā€™s behaviour, before we ā€œfixā€ our connection with them. The more we help children THROUGH their feelings, the more capacity they (and we!)gain in navigating through them on their own and into adulthood, without denying, deflecting, blaming, shutting down, internalising or projecting and inflicting on others. The way you navigate your child's feelings or other children's feelings reflects how you navigate these feelings within yourself. What do you need to be able to stay with your feelings and not be taken over by them, or find ways to regulate and build capacity to stay in or widen your window of tolerance ...? Losing your shit with children is in fact a tantrum. It means you are dysregulated, outside of your body, in a threatened state of flight/fight/freeze/shut down/fawn, and have not found ways to stay connected with yourself aka regulated through difficult feelings. Maybe feelings you yourself were not allowed to express as a child and hence internalised as still not allowed. When you take out your dysregulation on a child, you are eflecting and blaming something that is YOUR responsibility and yours alone. We wouldn't throw this kind of tantrum and treat our friends the way we treat our children when we are upset with them. Thinking of it this way helps bring a new perspective. As an art psychotherapist, this is my work with parents and children. Self-Regulate is our ability to calm and manage your own emotions. Co-Regulate is the ability to be present in loving, healing and empowering ways with others. Learning to Co-Regulate empowers you to effectively ā€˜hold a loving spaceā€™ for others during Breathwork sessions (and also with your family and friends). We raise Self-Awareness, Presence and Heart Intelligence in ourselves first. Then we can extend our practice to being a calming, healing and empowering influence on others. Co-Regulation is facilitated by creating safe, non-judgmental, open and welcoming relationships. Would you like to know more about how to be a loving, healing presence for yourself and others? I'm presenting a workshop on Self Regulation and Co-Regulation. Wednesday 22nd May 2024 7:00pm DST (Melbourne Daylight Savings Time) I'd like to invite you to join me - it's free and online plus you'll receive a FREE copy of the Self &Co-regulation E-book For Mums, Dads, Healers, Coaches and Health Professionals Don't miss this opportunity to learn and connect with like-minded individuals. click the link below šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡šŸ‘‡ http://eepurl.com/drBLF5 #selfregulation #coregulation #FREEWEBINAR #onlinebreathwork #breathwork #breathworkhealing #BreathworkExperience #AustralianBreathworkCollege #HeartCentered

Self-reflection is something we all need but often forget to prioritize, especially when the chaos of life and business overwhelm us. When you're in the middle of a busy workday with emails flooding your inbox, meetings piling up, and deadlines looming over your head like storm clouds... You might feel like self-reflection is a luxury. But the truth is, it's an essential practice that can reward you in many ways. Self-reflection is nothing fancy. It's actually carving out intentional time in your day to check in with yourself, ask those tough questions and really listen to the answers. It could be journaling about your wins and challenges, meditating to clear your mind, or simply taking a walk outside to let your thoughts wander. But self-reflection isn't just about introspection. It's also about action. After you reflect on your thoughts, you can take the insights you gain from that inner exploration and apply them to your daily life. You may want to tweak your approach to a project based on what you've learned about your strengths and weaknesses. Or perhaps you want to set boundaries to protect your time and energy after realizing you've been spreading yourself too thin. And here's the beauty of self-reflection: it's a journey, not a destination. It's an ongoing practice that evolves and grows with you. So, whether you're navigating the ups and downs of business or simply trying to find your footing in life, remember to pause, breathe, and reflect. You might just be surprised by what you discover along the way. šŸ«¶ . . . #nadiyamanjiofficial #lifeandbusinesscoach #transformationallifecoach #selfreflection #growthmindset #personaldevelopment #businessgrowth #selfregulation #instrospection #thoughtstoponder #personalgrowth #successmind #thoughtsforlife #getclarity #refocus
