#FBF to the 2019 Continental Cup of #Curling in celebration of taking the first step to my birthday trip to the 2022 World Men’s Curling Championship in Las Vegas. This morning tickets for the event went on presale for folks like me who’ve purchased tickets before (I also had full week tickets to the GSOC event originally scheduled for Vegas that got cancelled due to C19). . . There are 197 days until April 2nd, the day after my birthday (4/1), and the start of Worlds. My friends and I have about 6 months to finalize travel plans (e.g., drive vs fly), but I really need to start mentally preparing myself for the possibility that @svenskcurling may send another team to Worlds to gain experience especially if 🐐 @niklasedin & @teamniklasedin win gold at the Olympics (which I’m really hoping they do). I still have fangirl PTSD from #ContCup2019 & while we only get one shot at a first time (no do overs), I am hoping this next trip will erase most of the heartache that lingers. Hopefully my expectations are more realistic now after hearing about other fans’ bad experience at Worlds in the past. Also, I’m such a big curling fan now that Team Edin are not the end all be all, there are lots of other athletes I want to meet/see again. But let’s be real, no Team Edin for a birthday trip that took so much time, money, and effort would be devastating. So I’ll be manifesting gold for my #Icevengers in China at the Olympics and in Vegas at Worlds 🙏🤞 . . One of my friends & I originally planned to go to Beijing for the Olympics since the curling venue used to be the Water Cube (where Nathan Adrian won his first Olympic gold in swimming), but C19 and my mom becoming disabled last year killed that plan. Hopefully all the preparations I’m already doing will ensure I get to go to Las Vegas as planned for my 28th birthday 😉 Most people go to San Diego for Spring Break & I’m leaving to go to Vegas and sit in a cold arena. #WBW to the #ContCup2019 I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I met 🐐 @niklasedin and all the talented curlers who competed at the Continental Cup in #LasVegas Excited for the upcoming match between @teamniklasedin and @teamhasselborg it’s been awhile since I’ve seen either of these teams in action and your girl is thirsty AF! . . Not gonna lie, I’m not confident that the international aspects (Men’s Worlds and GSOC) of the Calgary #curling bubble will happen as planned due to current rates of both the virus transmission and vaccine rollout across the world. I just don’t see pandemic policies and travel restrictions for all the countries involved changing any time soon, which is why I’ve been on the fence about buying a fan cutout from Curling Canada since it’s nonrefundable (plus I haven’t been anywhere near photo ready these past few months). The Edin vs Hasselborg Battle of the Sexes match might be the only time I get to see Team Edin and Team Hasselborg in action until next season so I’m extra excited. As disappointing overall as the #ContCup2019 was for me thanks to my own naiveté and mismanagement of expectations, I have to keep reminding myself of the positive things associated w/ the trip. Not many #curling fans are lucky enough to watch their favorite teams compete in person, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching @teamniklasedin help Team World end the drought in #LasVegas I’m still torn between wanting to cry and laugh over this picture, but I’m hoping in due time I’ll learn to laugh more about it, starting w/ the very realistic possibility I will post it again on 11/15 w/ a smaller blue box 😂 I will never forget watching @niklasedin and my #SwedishVikings defeat Team Shuster and getting a 👍 from Nik on his way out as I pointed to the shirt I was wearing. I will forever be grateful that #BenHebert wore the Hawaiian ribbon lei and #crochet curling stone I made for him and that I got photographic proof. I spent a lot of time making leis and crochet stones for the athletes competing and it was nice to know Benny’s cool enough to rock it, even if I was sporting @teamniklasedin gear all tournament long because we all know by now I’m @niklasedin ‘s biggest fangirl 😬 It’s funny because personality wise and because I played #lead for both winter and spring leagues, I’m probably most like Benny when it comes to curling. If I can channel even 10% of his talent and flair on the ice, I think I’ll be set. I know hockey is huge in #Canada but when I think of Canada now, my mind immediately goes to #curling ❤️🥌 I really hope I can save up enough to go to the Players Championship for my birthday next year. #FBF to my #running days. Completing the #SanDiego #RockNRoll #halfmarathon while my dad was dying of cancer was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. By the time I attempted the half marathon I had lots of 5Ks, 10Ks, & 15Ks under my belt. I was consistently #jogging 6.5 miles without stopping or needing water, but I underestimated the toll 13.1 miles would have on me. I really should’ve trained more for longer runs (11 miles or so) because I had to visit the medical tent after mile marker 10 & basically walked the rest of the way after I got stretched out. At this point, I thought I had gotten a good handle on my pronation & blistering issues and if anything it was my knees I was concerned about. Joke’s on me, it was my right hip that essentially gave out. My poor right hip has never been the same since then. I finished the half marathon & earned my medal, but it came w/ the price. I continued to dance through pain for several months instead of going to the doctor immediately. I had an x-ray done and ended up in PT for 4 months but was never whole again. To this day I deal w/ #chronicpain I admit I was bad about doing PT exercises at home every day multiple times a day like I should’ve been but I also should’ve gone to the doctor sooner instead of trying to work through the pain. I’ve lost a lot of weight since then, but I can’t run/jog/walk long distances anymore. My bum right hip definitely makes dancing, swimming, and curling a lot more challenging despite having lost a significant amount of weight. Similar to how I feel when I look back at the #disappointing and #heartbreaking experience of the #contcup2019 I wonder if it was all worth it just to be able to cross off a goal from my list? Years later I’m still paying for the half marathon I completed and months later I’m still suffering from the aftermath of my Vegas trip. I can’t go back in time & fix my mistakes or shake myself to make different decisions. My hip will always be messed up & keep getting worse as I get older, and I can’t ever get back what I lost in January. #teamfatass #loseanolsentwin #sdccstarvationdiet

Glad I’m finally back on the whole #reading thing especially since I’m usually in double digits by this time of the year, but I haven’t had the #motivation #patience or even #interest to #read lately. The first book I read for the #19booksin2019challenge was a curling book I got autographed at #ContCup2019 and I’ve been trying to crawl my way out of the #heartbreak and #disappointment and #weightgain from that trip to Las Vegas. Things continue to get worse as work stress has me eating my feelings some more. I’ve been dealing w/ other health issues too and have a doctor’s appointment this morning. Trying to take lots of deep breaths, channel my brave woman warrior, and not worry until I know more information. I almost showed up to league wearing this tonight in honor of @teamhasselborg ‘s win, but it’s signed and I don’t want to damage it in any way. It’s precious just like my Edin jersey. Plus it’s snug. I tried it on in Vegas when I first got it and I can get it on my body, but I look like a sausage in a casing that’s about to explode. And I’ve gained 10lbs back since #ContCup2019 from stress and emotional eating so it’s probably worse now. #FBF to #ContCup2019 in #LasVegas The first time I wore my #IBELIEVEEDINWILLWIN #shirt was to the draw #TeamEdin had against Team Shuster. It was the first time that #NiklasEdin had defeated John Shuster in about a year after losing to him at the Olympics, a GSOC event, and the Curling World Cup Omaha final. That is, until today *spoiler alert* Team Edin won against Team Shuster in their RR match earlier today at #wmcc2019 💃🏻🕺 Nik’s not allowed to lose to Shuster anymore and I hope he got the memo 👊💪 I will always have a love-hate relationship w/ how my first Continental Cup experience went. As time goes on, I hope I can learn to embrace the bright moments instead of remembering the heartbreak and disappointments. There are no do overs. What’s done is done, and I can’t unring the bell. Most of the toothpaste has been squeezed out of the tube and there’s no putting that minty freshness back in. But what a treat it was to see Niklas lead Team Edin to a win against Team Shuster on American soil, er ice. I of course got a couple of snide comments about my shirt from a couple of men (likely drunk Canadians because apparently #curling tournaments are all about drinking and partying). I’m petty and hella vengeful AF I wish I could’ve found them after the game just to remind them what my shirt looked like 😂 Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned; and I like being right and wish I could rub people’s noses at things when they’ve wronged me. Though I guess I am big about redemption... #provemewrong The day before I went on my #baecation was the lowest I had ever weighed in my adult life. It was lower than what I weighed in high school. And then shit happened and I ate my feelings and gained 10lbs back 🤬 I’ve hit plateau and still struggling to get back on track. I’m trying to be good w/ nutrition but still mourning not having had cake on Monday on my birthday. Yes, I purposely used mourning because that’s what it feels like. I was told that they don’t have the rights to them YET. Now how can I order one? I really loved the #TeamWorld clothes too but was bummed by the “no personalization” rule. I would’ve order a shirt & a jacket in a heartbeat had I been able to add 4 letters to the back. How much would it cost me to order an Edin Team World jersey & jacket now that the selling period is over? . It’s no secret at all how much I love @niklasedin and the #SwedishVikings I finally met them at the heartbreaking disappointment of a Vegas trip called #ContCup2019 where someone asked me how much Nik was paying me to promote him so much & I literally laughed out loud. My supervisor surprised us all with a #springtime pick me up because it’s been hella #stressful at work. Earlier this year I decided I would try this idea I saw on IG of writing down something good that happened to me at least once a week on a piece of paper, folding it up, and storing them in a jar of some sort. Well, I didn’t have a mason jar or colored pieces of paper that were not sticky notes, so I planned on just writing it down on my journal in the mean time. Well, I think I had one maybe two happy thoughts in January before the Las Vegas #baecation #heartbreak of #contcup2019 sent me down a very dark road. It took several weeks before I stopped crying myself to sleep every night. The #disappointment #regret and yearning for a do-over may fade in time, but I’m never going to forget the pain... especially because I only have myself to blame. The last photo is of a quote I often see on IG. The past couple of months I’ve been feeling #buried and with all the rain going on right now, I’m reminded that #spring will come soon enough so I need to start thinking I’ve been planted so I can one day bloom. The colorful squares of paper I ordered from Amazon in January disappeared in the mail and never arrived, but I finally got cute notepads ($0.99 each) and a pretty glass jar ($2.99) this weekend to get the project back on track. I only have to come up with 7 or 8 positive things/happy memory so not too much to catch up on. The #flower and #butterfly designs are also appropriate, don’t you think? I need to #prioritize my #mentalhealth I can’t let #depression and #anxiety win over me, I’ll end up #eatingmyfeelings again and undoing all the hard work I’ve done these past 7 months. #TransformationTuesday Part 3. Thanks in advance for continuing on this journey with me. As you may recall, I came back from the #contcup2019 w/ a broken heart & resorted to #eatingmyfeelings because I’m not strong enough yet to avoid old habits & demons from my past. I knew what I was doing was wrong, but I just couldn’t shake it off. Around the same time, I started seeing posts on IG promoting the upcoming auditions for a special #dancetroupe for #dancers ages 25 and up. Last year I made callbacks, but ultimately didn’t make it into the team. The competition was just too much for me to overcome... 💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺 I decided to give it another go to test myself both in terms of what my body can do, but also to see if #positivethinking will come through for me. For the past few months since deciding to fully commit to the #teamfatass #loseanolsentwin #sdccstarvation project, I’ve been reading a lot of posts on IG about speaking things into existence, manifesting things you want, believing it is already so to make it so, etc. Well, as someone who’s always been a glass half-empty kind of person and someone who’s been disappointed a lot in the past, it’s a challenge for me to visualize things coming to fruition and thinking positively, especially since I spent so much time, effort, and money for the Vegas trip so I could cross off a goal from my list. You’re supposed to be happy you realized a dream, right? Not suffering from buyer’s remorse and wishing you could go back in time and maybe do things over? 💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺 At any rate, some of you may know of my obsession over the new Miss Universe Catriona Gray from the Philippines. Maybe one day I’ll learn how to walk in heels and do her lava walk, but that’s another thing for another time. Well, Catriona had done an interview in the Philippines w/ Boy Abunda a few months back where she was asked to complete a sentence. What a world of difference in the year between these two #selfies Candidate 41 looked very much deer in the headlights, swollen, and already exhausted and #dancetryouts hadn’t even started. Candidate 55 took a hella #sweaty #selfie or #swelfie AFTER she had finished auditioning and still managed a dorky smile on her face. A good redemption for her #TeamEdin shirt since the last time she wore it she experienced heartbreak at #contcup2019 What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas. Some things stay w/ you and drag you down... 💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺 IDK if numerology had any role in the outcomes, but 4 is considered unlucky in Chinese numerology, whereas 5 is luckier. Not as lucky as 8, but luckier than 4 for sure, hence why a company of canned sardines is called 555 in Asia... 41 had never NOT passed dance tryouts since first semester freshman year of college for The Movement so it was devastating. Although I don’t think she could’ve handled being in a dance troupe last year... 💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺 Being significantly skinnier at tryouts this year made a big difference, but so did pacing myself so I still had something left in the tank for the two passes when my actual audition came. Another year older and hopefully wiser. I actually started visualizing getting down on the floor & letting my hair down literally for auditions, but when the time came, I was on auto-pilot and forgot OOPS! 💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺💃🏻🕺 After the challenging 5 years I’ve had, things actually started looking up towards the end of 2018. I thought 2019 was going to be the best year yet in comparison, but it started off rough and I’m still trying to recover. January was a trial period! It’s #ChineseNewYear so here’s to new beginnings! On Friday I brought the remaining unopened giant jar of #Nutella to work with me, not to continue #eatingmyfeelings but in an attempt to #breakthecycle of #emotionaleating and #bingeeating I’ve been doing since #contcup2019 broke my heart... I actually brought this to the office for my supervisor’s daughter, who at a very young age (7?) decided she would stop eating animals. She’s 11 now and growing like a weed. Her mom told me she’s burning her calories faster than she can eat them (she’s a soccer player), and that she has at least one friend who is already struggling w/ an #eatingdisorder - the opposite side of what I’ve been dealing w/ for years though it was not disclosed to me whether it was anorexia or bulimia. My boss was WFH on Friday so she didn’t get it til today. I was still at work when she texted me the cutest pic of her daughter hugging the jar of Nutella. Oh sweetie, I know exactly how you feel, #ILOVENUTELLA too, too much actually. I lost one of my cheerleading sisters Brooke to #melanoma We spent many years performing & raising money for people w/ life-threatening illnesses, mainly HIV and cancer. I never expected she would be one of the more than 9,000 people in the US who die from melanoma annually. But Brooke’s memory lives on. Check out #teambpw on Instagram for the nearly 1,400 posts devoted to her. #Skincancer is by far the most common type of cancer in the US. Most skin cancers are caused by too much exposure to the sun, but use of indoor tanning beds and sun lamps also contribute to the problem. The American Cancer Society estimates that one person dies of melanoma every hour. On average, a person’s risk for melanoma doubles if he/she has had five or more sunburns. Fortunately, regular daily use of an SPF 15 or higher sunscreen reduces the risk of developing melanoma by 50%. People who have fair skin, blue or green eyes, or blond, red, or light brown hair need to be especially careful in the sun. This is part of the reason I included #sunscreen in the bag of presents I gave @teamniklasedin at #contcup2019 The last thing I need is for @niklasedin @oggelit @rasmuswrana or @cr1ppa to be diagnosed w/ skin cancer. Luckily it was cold and gloomy in Vegas in January unlike Worlds last year when the Swedish Vikings clearly looked #sunburned during the meet and greet... I met Kristen through our involvement w/ #RelayForLife She is one of the most active #melanomasurvivors I know. Her cancer diagnosis actually came after her mom urged her to get a mole on her leg checked out. Having many moles, irregular moles, or large moles can be a risk factor for melanoma. She’s since moved away from San Diego but remains active when it comes to raising awareness about melanoma. She recently got married, is expecting her first child, and always keeps us updated on her #cancerjourney Having had skin cancer before or a family history of skin cancer puts you at higher risk for it so she’s always getting checked. #Confession I’m in a really bad place right now and have been #eatingmyfeelings ☹️ I was doing so well w/ the #teamfatass #loseanolsentwin #sdccstarvationdiet project for several months, even surviving the #holidays and managing to continue to lose weight. Unfortunately #heartbreaks and #disappointments during my #lasvegas #baecation at #contcup2019 (I only have myself to blame), trigger-filled bad news, and work #stresses have me doing a lot of #emotionaleating and #bingeeating again, including mindlessly eating spoonfuls of Nutella and devouring #chocolate (resulting in a gain of 2lbs, the first time I’ve gained weight since I started seriously losing it in September). I’m a #chocoholic #sugaraddict I’ve had a LONG relationship w/ chocolate as a #comfortfood and I’m #struggling to #breakthecycle I’m subscribing to the idea that January’s a trial month and doesn’t count. I’m ready to get back on track w/ my #diet and try to make 2019 the best year yet. I’m hoping the tide’s already turning and that I’m on my way to something better. Crying yourself to sleep every night & constantly feeling like the slightest trigger would cause you to burst into tears is #exhausting I got a break at work. We found out today we have 2 more weeks aka 10 more business days to finish a behemoth of a project I’ve been referring to as my $2 million baby - because it could be worth that much (if not more) once we’re done. The stakes are high and the timeline is super tight, hence the work stress *cough* #underpressure but at least the accountant I’m working w/ has a great sense of humor. One of the many casualties of #contcup2019 besides my heart and my bank account was my #screenaccurate #JessicaJones #messengerbag 😭😭😭 It broke somehow before one of the afternoon #curling matches. I probably should’ve thrown it away in #LasVegas like many special and sentimental things that were most likely discarded that week, but I didn’t have the heart to part w/ it yet. I’m fairly certain it broke in such a way that it can’t be put together again... maybe in a similar fashion as my heart? I haven’t even tried checking my camera and its lens... because that got banged around too, although I didn’t even use it at the arena itself - I only bought it for my Jessica Jones #cosplay Is this going to be one of those cosplays that never see the light of day? Doomed? Unlucky? We’ll see come SDCC 🤔

Bruce Mouat is a Scottish curler who currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Mouat has had a very successful junior career, winning two Scottish junior championships in 2015 and 2016. He skipped the Scottish team at the 2015 World Junior #Curling Championships, where he led his team to a bronze medal. @BruceMouat would again skip #Scotland at the 2016 World Junior Curling Championships, beating the United States to claim the gold medal. Mouat would skip the British team at the 2017 Winter Universiade leading the team to an undefeated record en route to claiming the gold medal. Check out who I met last night. Niklas Edin. @NiklasEdin is a two-time medal winner in his three Olympics, with a silver at the 2018 Winter Olympics and the bronze in 2014. He is a three-time World #curling champion (2013, 2015, 2018), six-time European champion (2009, 2012, 2014-2017), and has won three Grand Slam events.
